FYI the Deco S7 3 pack is $148 at good guys commercial and has:

    Faster speeds
    WiFi Speeds

    5 GHz: 1300 Mbps (802.11ac)
    2.4 GHz: 600 Mbps (802.11n)
    VS
    AC1200
    5 GHz: 867 Mbps (802.11ac)
    2.4 GHz: 300 Mbps (802.11n)

    More antennae

Well worth the extra few dollars imo

    • I'm seeing $157 on my account. But good advice! Thank you

      • same

Are you looking at good guys commercial site?

          • @Jenbrook: Of course, because the normal TGG site has it for $199

            • @BlitzR: Can anyone help with ordering through TGG Commercial? I don't have an account

              • @doddsyv1: Would have helped if I lived in Geelong, sorry mate!

                • +1

@Ibz: All good thanks mate, worked out I could get it through my workplace

      • That's strange. I'm definitely getting 148, checked right before posting

    • Thanks for this, my eBay order just shipped today for the M4, might just refund it and order this instead.

But getting good guys commercial access is not the easiest:

    • I currently have the Tenda Nova MW3 setup with a NBN 1000/50 fttp plan.
Would Deco S7 be a huge improvement? Or not worth the upgrade?

      • Tenda Nova MW3 isn't suitable for Gigabit. Purchase a router with Wi-Fi 6 or better.

        • My router is Xiaomi Ax6000 wi-fi 6

        • +1

I have the nova 3 as well and get dog speeds on a gigabit plan. I've now cabled through the house instead.

    • What would be the one up to Deco S7 for TP link? Would that have a Wifi 6?

      • Deco X20 or Deco X68.

        • Wow the price difference is steep for Wifi6. Might stick with Wifi5 for the next several years.

    • I recently bought this and it works really well. Strong connection and speeds throughout the whole house.

I had bought a tp-link wifi extender as a temporary measure and it didn’t work well. Weak signals and my devices had to switch between connections when I moved to a different area.

  • We have a Deco that is running WiFi 6 - TP-LINK DECO X60 3-PACK AX5400. Will this work to enhance the network?

    • +2

stick to wifi6, this one is wifi5

      • Yeah - but I was thinking if I put in in any dead pockets.

        • good idea, great for areas with low usage.

    • +2

X60 is way better than S4.

    The XE75 deal is back.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/791584

    $345/503 for 2/3 pack Wifi 6E Mesh.

  • If you can get a 2.5gb port wifi mesh like X90, that would be better choice that these. Pair it up with 2.5gb capable router/ switch, you can achieve gigabits wifi speed easily.

  • Is this worth getting for my new house? I will only have wireless NBN available. It’s a decent size house but wondering if I should wait til I have a connection set up. I’m a bit of a novice with this stuff too

  • got this set on a deal and its been rock solid

  • Novice here. I've got FTTC connected to an Optus Gateway F@ST 5366 LTE Sagemcom modem. We have a double storey home but this connection is on ground floor front corner, and we often have issues getting good speeds on the top floor and back of the house. Any tips please to improve my current noob setup?

      Purchase a mesh system like this Deco S7 or a Deco with Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E.

      1. Do you use the Optus home phone and Optus 4G failover?
      2. Is FTTP ready at your location? Check here.
      • +1

Thanks @Twix. The current Optus modem is only used for internet.

If I opt for just a Deco s7 mesh system, do i need to change over my current modem?
With our other option of Deco with wifi6/6e, is that also a mesh system?

I should also note that I have Cat 6 direct wired connection points(from the study) to 4 different parts of the house. I have tried using a wifi extender(7 years old), which is semi - effective.

        • +1

The Deco router gets plugged into the nbn box and replaces the Optus modem/router and Wi-Fi extender. All Deco's are a mesh system when purchased in a 2-pack or more.

          Any luck with the FTTP?

          • @Twix: Wait, do we not need modems anymore with the NBN box?

            • @ATangk: No you don't need a second modem if you have an nbn box.

FTTP = nbn NTD (fibre ONT) + router.
FTTC = nbn NCD (VDSL2 modem with reverse power) + router.
HFC = nbn NTD (DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem) + router.
Fixed Wireless = nbn NTD + router.

          • @Twix: Yes, apparently i can get this at my address. Would i still need a mesh connection if I get Fttp?

            • +1

@Dealhunter82: Yeah you need a router with FTTC or FTTP and all mesh systems like the Deco have a router built-in.

The nbn NCD box you have now gets changed to a different nbn fibre NTD box.

      That's E4

  • I have a Google Nest that's pretty slow when sitting right next to one of the access points (e.g. we get ~250mb near the router but only about 90m/s at the AP). Is this better?

  • I have the AXE5400 while connection reliability is good, however the range is disappointing. 1 meter from it I can get 600mbps (1GB wired connection) wireless connection. But when I move to the room next too it, approx 3 meters away separated by a non solid core door, speed drops to around 180mbps.
