  • Thanks for sharing! Appears that the $100 for free shipping is being calculated off the pre-discount price, which makes it a bit easier to hit.

Bought a tech kit and shoe bag in "Dark Mode" red to complement the Checked bag I already have in the same colour. Have been a fan of July products and find the quality to be good, but have been a bit disappointed by how expensive some of the newly released accessories such as travel wallets and luggage tags are.

What’s the point of buying a hard case carry-on that weighs 3.9kg when you can only take 7kg on board 🥴 I’ve seen way too many make the mistake of trying to bring hard-cases on but weighed at the gate and hit with massive fines of $70-$100 per kg when they’re over.

yeah, these seem both really overrated and overweight.

First thing I looked at was the weight and 3-4kg just for the bag makes no sense for carry on, it completely misses the mark when 7kg is the carry on limit. I travel heaps doing carry only as a way to save money, it would be impossible with these bags.

These bags are useless for most situations other than an overnight business trip, but hey they look really nice and sleek.

        • yeah, they do look okay. but so do much lighter and cheaper american touristers and samsonites..!

    • Depends. I have a PPL carry on thats in this range. While it's heavy, it's great if you're bringing back valuables/breakables.

Also consider that many top tier carriers are now 10kgs carry on.

Really, I would have one of each or, alternatively, one of those lightweight collapsible duffel carry-ons. Theyre $60 everyday.

These cases are aimed at premium & business travellers, typically will club membership. These customers rarely have their checkin bags weighed.

      • I always have checkin bags weighed. All the time. Every single time in fact, both domestically and overseas in all 4 classes

    • I take one of these for 1-2 night business trips domestically.

They only would check your weight when you go line up for the security check, or at the gate. Either way, have your laptop out of your bag at this time because the laptop adds to your bag weight significantly.

A couple of changes of clothes+toiletries doesn't weigh that much. It's the laptop that does add a good chunk of weight. It also makes sense for you to have your laptop out during security and boarding.

Interestingly enough, the Qantas Business security lane in Sydney gets their bag weight checked more than the standard line

I couldn't find my normal bag so used a supermarket thermo bag last flight. Worked great and the bag weighs sod all.

The 7kg's makes it very difficult to do a short trip just on carry on if you have a laptop. I wish they'd go back to 10kg, or at least let us buy the extra at a reasonable cost.

I posted a $99 Amazon basics carry on wheelie suitcase here. It was 3.3kg and I was crucified by other ozbargainers

The carry on light (+expandable one) are better in weight - about 1.8kg-2.2kg

What a joke, can basically only carry a couple of napkins in this on most flights lol. And what’s the point of having a built power bank? Are you fking serious?

this is the worst idea ever

We have been discussing the pros and cons of the really light ones here:

A wheeled bag will always be heavier so if I am checking in luggage for an overseas trip, I am happy to bring a "heavy" wheeled bag. If you are not checking in luggage, then a soft duffel type bag is probably the best for weight but I get a sore shoulder from carrying it around the airport all day.
