Pretty good price for Samsung SSD. Hold it for a couple months and enjoy the price increase.

Bugger I got excited as wanted to get 2…. One for PS5 and one for PC
What’s the difference between the LNM790X002T-RNNNG linked here and the NM790?
@flagsarefun: that's the product number of the nm790 2tb
@follow: Ah, well is there any difference between the NM790 and the ‘Ares’ that you linked?
@flagsarefun: same product just different names for different markets
@follow: Cheers!
Cancelled Samsung & ordered this instead. Thx. :)
Is it good for PC gaming? (Games such as Control, RDR2, Alan Wake 2, GTA 5, The Finals, Witcher 3, Civ 6 etc)
I currently have 1tb SSD which has Windows installed on it. I want to buy a separate 2tb SSD and transfer all non-OS files to the new SSD.
Yes I've had a 1TB for years on my PC, recently upgraded to a 990 Pro
There is no performance increase in any game other than ones using direct storage from a pci gen 4 to a pvigen 3 nvme
Most games wont even load any faster from a big stanrd satabssd to a nvme
I have had games on a 970 evo
And a 850x there is no load increase to any reao degree.Get this its good value..has dram
Can u keep it simple for no tech ppl…
Will it work in Ps5 fine?
And will it work in Pc fine?
@ozsingh83: Will it work in Ps5 fine? NO
And will it work in Pc fine? YES
@Solrak: Perfect, thank you
Even a sata SSD is fine for pc gaming. I have nvme and sata ssds with games installed on both. Cant tell any difference
Excellent for PC gaming. I can't tell the difference between this and my 980 Pro and SN850X when it comes to game loading and file transfers.
Yep there is none.
Hardware unboxed tested 56 games
The only one that saw any load time over a sata ssd to an nvme drove was rathet and clank and resident evil
Its mostly all marketing bullshit.
More improtant is the tbw and the iops
Why is the price set to increase?
Covid 2.0
Oh that sounds like an awesome squeal
Actually incorrect, it's Covid NVMe M.2
the nand flash oversupply of yesteryear is dwindling up. demand is reasonable right now and flash manufacturers want to make money so prices are going up, which in turn affects consumer ssd pricing.
this is utter BS.
The ramping up of manufacture is going to decrease $, the affect of C19 on factories was immense.
It affected all parts of consumer products.i mean, yeah, sure, if that's how you feel. covid did affect manufacturing capacity, but the ending oversupply + recovering demand situation is very widely reported and documented. see here
@lachlantula: thought the ssd price drop was due to chinese manufacturer figuring out the nand chips
@lachlantula: same random citing 4th quarter price rises which never happened?
OK!!!
Holy (profanity) this is a bargain
Crucial T500 2TB for $153 was actually a bargain. T500 is Gen4 Vs Samsung PCIe Gen3 is much faster.
That was a very good deal, especially since the T500 also has DRAM.
T500 suitable for PS5?
Yeah I’m still waiting for 2 T500s to be shipped (next few weeks). Half thought to cancel the order and buy these. I using for a NAS so no need for mega speed.
It shows 229.97 for me
I think it's gone already
Price seems to be USD
Added to cart then the price changed as I was checking out. Must be over already.
Damn, ordered at $149.95 10 mins ago, order just got cancelled.
Pricing error?
Order got cancelled :(
Pricing error?
They did not say, only explanation was this: We're writing to inform you that your order has been cancelled by Amazon US. We' re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. If you used a Credit or Debit card for payment, rest assured that you are only charged when items are shipped. Should you notice pending charges on your bank statement, these are authorisations that may last for up to 7 business days. If you observe charges on your bank statement, please be advised that you will receive a refund within 3-5 business days.
I thouhgt I missed out.
I've read all the cancellations but it's available again.
Just ordered…fingers crossedIts only 8% claimed, nvme prices are going to go through the roof in the not so distant future, so this is a great deal.
Back in stock, folks! Just pulled the trigger.
same
finally something for my legion i7
Same here just pulled trigger!
Does anyone know of any good deals on the 970 1TB or 980 1TB versions?
I can split a disk with yoi
Back in stock, it seems. Just pulled the trigger.
Recommend me a NVME enclosure for this please?
or educate me on what speed/spec I should be looking for. Ideally usb C for Macbook Pro storage.
TIA
Best I could find for a reasonable price. Note I believe it only works on TB 3/4, not USB 3 / 4. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08FT59SB6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_p…
if nvme going up in future, wont they also come down in future? as tech improves?
Don't think it's that good of a price, the much faster 990 Pro was $173 just a few weeks ago. And that one can be used in a PS5 too.
I think that deal was an exception…. I haven’t seen it many times
not sure why this is popular when the mp44 beats this
9% off for 2 qualifying items, this works for me:
Kool-Aid Cherry Drink Mix (0.13 oz Packet) https://amzn.asia/d/1fTv3vG
Wow - great find! I didn't think the 2 item discount would apply for a different product!
Thanks for that. Managed to get the price down to $139 :)
Hi, just wondered how you found a cheap 2nd item?
I am looking at another product that has a discount for buying with something else byt it is a massive list & you can only sort by featured or user review so it is impossible to find the cheapest item to get the multi-product discount.Yeah absolutely and you conspicuously can’t sort by price for that list.
I simply reused an item from the recent Crucial T500 deal and luckily it was still eligible.
Just one thing to mention in regards to the 970 Evo Plus', I recall reading an article saying that newer models of this drive have a fault in them that causes rapid failures. Can't find the article right now but yeah, something to keep in mind.
That issue is on 980 and 990 pro
@s20525xxx, no, there was also an issue affecting new batches of the 970 Evo Plus'
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34648149
This post also quotes it's an issue with newer versions of the 970 Evo Plus that utilise the "Elpis" controller.
I’m guessing as it’s Amazon US there’s no local warranty?
Back to normal price now.
I can still see the discounted price with 41% claimed.
Hmmm… yes, its back now.
How long until we see 4tb's for about ~$200?
About 25cm.
Rumor is NAND manufacturers are limiting new supply because of the current saturation of the market. We are likely at the bottom of the dip in terms of pricing.
Would this be good to put in an enclosure as a external HD?
As good as caged chicken… or you can let it free roam.
Gorn
I urge people if Samsung Australia really don’t want anything to do with these imported grey market products, just do a warranty return or a product return for credit with Amazon and see how long it takes you. Then do the same with Samsung Australia.
I have a faulty P110 I sent on the 3/1 - it shows arrival at their logiistics facility on the 5/1 but as of the 12/1 it still does not show as received by Amazon Australia.
You get a cartoon style timeline and mine stretches all the way to the end of January.
Prime doesn’t seem make a difference here
Just saying Samsung should get on board as what they are doing might be against ACL but technically Amazon are bringing in Samsung’s products that were destined for different market to Australia.
Samsung should be happy if more of their produce are being sold, but Samsung seems to have a far ferment attitude to what Samsung is doing.
I’ve gone out of my way to try to NOT buy Samsung International product that doesn’t come through AU distribution channels. It shouldn’t make a difference, but apparently it does.
I’d be interested to get one that came through the “proper” Samsung Distribution channel for AU and see how long it takes for a return or a repair with Samsung’s AU actual warranty and returns process.
Just a thought.
Thanks
Have you contacted Amazon?
Usually if i have this type of drama a phone call or an online chat usually rectifies it within a few minutes
Just wondering if anyone actually snapped up one of these at $149.95? I managed to go through the process and all has been comfirmed via email but my money never left my account and I have had not comunication since.
mine is still waiting to be fulfilled.
Arriving 29 January - 11 Februaryjust wait if you can
Mine was showing as finally dispatched…today it says :
"Problem occurred
Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping.
If you have not received your package by 26 January, please come back here for an update.
We are sorry for the inconvenience"Yikes,
Never had one like this beforeMine is still showing status Ordered - Arriving 29 Jan - 13 Feb. Hasn't progressed to shipping yet and no money has come out of bank yet.
Has anyone had theirs shipped yet?
Received mine yesterday.
Thanks OP, that's good to hear, hopefully will just need to keep wait a bit longer. Would you know roughly how long it took in the shipping process?
I picked up the 2 x 2TB for $267.91 as was great deal for 4tb of storage, especially as my Mobo is only Gen 3.
Solved a few issues for me too, as will be able to put my 500gb m.2 into my ROG enclosure from a previous deal and my 3TB HDD into my old NAS to replace a failed 3TB drive.. =DThursday, 25 January

For those curious, it's not suitable for use in a PS5. This is PCIe Gen3; read/write speeds up to 3,500/3,300 MB/s only.
