iPhone 5 16GB with Vodafone 24 Months @ $35/Month for Existing Customers (Must call Vodafone)

2915

Went to change my post paid to prepaid 2 months left on the contract. Currently on $29pm plan and paying $26 for samsung tab (old one). Upgrades offered iPhone 5 for $6 pm extra and waiving of the remaining 2 months of Hand set instalment. So for me work out to be only an extra $100 over 24 months (6x24 less 2x29). Not sure if it only for existing customers but thought I'd share.

Edit: just called voda, confirmed upgrade to iPhone 5 16gb $35pm ($29+$6). Upgrades closed for the day ill call tomorrow to get a confirmation email and will post for those who needs it. Seems like everyone negging the deal cause they don't like voda. Would be interested to find if anyone else able are to get this deal, otherwise I'm happy to remove this post.

Just called and asked for a copy of the contract o be sent. Service level is within 24hrs.

Received the email however it's xfdf format. Won't work at home, will try tomorrow at work. Failing that ill post it once I get it in the mail.

        • It was offered due to a problem I was having with my account. They described it as exceptional circumstances. It is just to highlight that the deal posted by the OP is plausible, but the final deal one gets will vary depending on circumstances.

EDIT: I am paying $5 per month for an extra 750MB of data, giving me a total of 1.975GB per month. I am not getting everything for free.

vodafail is good for those that dont actually want to use the phone, just walk around listening to music and praying they can get a connection when desperate.

  • Don't do it

This is 840 minimum for a locked handset and you're sure to overspend

    I owned a 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S

The 4S is my last apple phone. The 5 is barely worth 500

I'll move to whatever the next nexus is and leave vodka phone for TPG prepaid

    • +2

U can unlock it from day 1.

    • What took you 4 bloody years to realise you need a Nexus, dude ?

      • Extreme case of iFever

        I owned a 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S

  • This may possibly be a question better directed towards a forum, but I'm hoping for some opinions here:) I'm moving to Sydney next year and am trying to decide which network to go with - I will be working within the CBD. Currently live in Perth and Vodafone coverage has actually been reasonably good here! Sounds like Vodafone is pretty patchy there, and Telstra is always a bit pricy - is Optus a reasonable compromise? Does Optus have good (and reliable!) 3G coverage in the CBD?

    • +1

Don't sign up for anything until you get there and test it out for a bit. Try a $2 sim and see if you like the coverage.

  • please mail me the confirmation too :D hope it works in WA

  • wow really good deal but too bad im not a voda customer. I paid 899 for i5 in app store few weeks ago and I personally think it is better than s3. but still don't get why there are so many negs about its reception coz ~$200 credit = no calls

  • If you're with Vodafone it is always worth it to bargain with them over the phone. Of course the network isn't as good as Tel$tra, but for some it does the job. I connect to 3G (and 3G+) well and can use it in my area. Calls and texts work fine. I'm a student so it's not a big deal if a call drops out every now and again - I just call the person back.

Personally I've been with 3 for 1 year and then switched to Vodafone for another year and was due for an upgrade. After a bit of negotiating I got:

    iPhone 5 16GB
    $11 Handset repayments
$45 Infinite (Infinite calls & texts, 500MB data)
Extra 1GB a month for free

Then because I have another 2 phones on the account I am
    eligeble for a 10% discount on the $45 :-)

    • how did you get the free 1gb? i did get that for my other handset because there was a promotion at that moment.

and also, is that 10% still applicable today?

please pm me if you don't mind :)

  • Anyone know if they are doing the upgrade for 3 customers as well? They sent me a text offering a fantastic upgrade offer but when I called through they said nothing. I think I would have upgraded on the spot for $35 IP5!

i have 4 services with Vodafone (don't ask why… LOL), the network performance of the Vodafone is okay at the moment, but there are still network dark spots in outer suburbs with really slow performance for data. If you need great network performance then Telstra is the way to go.

But at $29+$6 dollars, this service is really cheap.

  • hey this isn't really relevant for this offer but i was wondering if you guys think having a $50 infinte plan on voda (which they dont offer anymore) is worth keeping because my contract expires in a couple of week?

  • i left voda months ago. just called them ask if i can comeback and get this deal they said no, the best is $30/m+$18handset/m=$48
any special number i should call, name of person etc?

    • I just called vodaphone, i got the same response.

  • Hi everyone, I've just called Vodafone and they said they can't do that same deal with me! :'( they could only do $45/m for me.

  • -1

I just can't believe that some people expect to get this deal and are still posting about.

IMO, this was never a deal, and I doubt the OP actually got the deal, unless there are some extreme circumstances we don't know about.

Ridiculous, moving on…but I will still come back and check the latest posts :)

  • I'm just out of contract with VF.

They offered me $2 off the repayment for a 64GB phone if I stayed on my current grandfathered $49 plan which has 1.5 GB of data (1GB of normal data, 500 MB of GPRS data) and free social networking (Facebook). Current $50 plan has 750MB of data (but extra 500 MB free for 12 months) and no free social networking.

So nowhere near $12 off like the OP, but a better plan than what is now standard.

If the OP can post a copy of the confirmation or contract (with the first name blocked out and only the last four phone digits of the phone number showing) that might help with a second attempt at negotiation.

    • They don't put the details as such in the contract. They merely show you the standard deal, then they apply the various discounts on your bill to reflect the deal negotiated on the phone. In my case they have applied the discounted amount all in one go as opposed to a month by month discount like they usually do.

  • It's more then $12 off per month. I'm on a $49 plan now as they are paying my $13 phone repayments per month

    • 16, 32 or 64GB iPhone5?

      • I got iPhone 4

  • is it really the $29 plan? checking on the website, there is no $29 plan but the $30. Also please can I get confirmation statement so I can visit or contact 3/vodafone. Thank you in advance.

    • Old $29 plan. No longer available for sale.

  • could anyone provide the name of guys who gave you the deals please?
i've just called them but no luck!

    • They usually have names like Tom, Dick and Harry, but whe you get higher up the chain they seem to use their real names

  • They do deals based on how long you have been with them and what other plans you have. Don't expect much if ur new to them

  • i've treid to get an upgrade and i am with 3 for about 8 yrs. They gave me 45 (30+15) plus 500mb extra data.
i dont' know how did you get that ….anyways..i feel its great deal…(not commenting on network)

  • Can u post the receipt please???

  • i'm in the same position as the OP, and am thinking about converting to prepaid. when i called vodafone about this, they put me through to upgrades, and the rep could only offer $29+$18 for an iphone5 (16gb). this is no different from what you can get online ($30+$18) though it would save me two months of my remaining contract. i'll be keen to see the OP post the receipt and if anyone else has had better luck?

    • i call them many times and no luck
best they can do is what on website…
      even in store the same!

    • Don't go Vodafone Pre-Paid.
Post-paid get first priority with reception, you will get frustrated

  • Called them as well - could not match this deal.

  • Just called VF cause I was lonely and I only managed SGS 3 for $29+7 and the iPhone 5 for $29+15. I am going out of contract soon. It's funny though cause I'm still considering paying $80/month for Telstra, now if they are still offering that 1gb a month deal that ended yesterday…

  • so i guess this thread should be closed now? OP never got back with receipt either. and no one here even got close to what the OP posted.

  • +1

Ok wasn't able to get confirmation, however I now have the 1st bill. Any idea how to upload?

    • Sadly 1st bill doesn't help much, I messaged you via oz bargain can you send me your phone number so i can try to get them to match it.

Since the bill doesn't mention what type of phone it is, so the customer service guy just says "That could be any phone".

I have 3 phones with them, and tried to get them to match it, but the closest they'd go was $30 + $15.

      • the last section of the bill clearly shows iPhone 5 as device.

but are they even obliged to match their own deal? Is there any offiial policy around this?

        • Just went in store.
          They explained why.

They suspect that the person who got the deal satisfied this condition:
          1. Used to have $29 per month plan on a 24 month contract.

So you can choose to stay on the same plan of $29 but the mobile payment is only $10 then they prob saw that he was a loyal customer using some strange algorithm (prob something along the lines of, calculation of how much you usually use over the cap so they can guarantee they will still earn money off you).

They refused to do $29 + $10 on my account because my previous handset was on a $29 plan of 12 months.

        • so, i'm on $29 plan for 24 months, and contract ending end of november. same shoes as OP. but the best iphone 5 deal they offered is extending it by 24 months on $29+$18. and you're telling me that i can't get what the OP got because this "strange algorithm" ruled that i was unprofitable? ok… true that i rarely exceed the cap…

edit: anyway, nice job OP. at least now we know what the lower bound is on the iphone5.

        • Go instore dont call in, tell them you want to keep your current plan but upgrade to iPhone 5. They will then look up their spreadsheet and give you the default which is $29 + $10.

        • really? i never knew stores are better for "retentions" than over the phone. may i ask which store? thanks…

  • The deal looks legit but op is obviously exceeding monthly allowance by paying $50+ on a $29 plan. Still a good deal nonetheless if one can stick to the monthly allowance.

  • Any1 else can get this deal?

  • I called 1555, the guy basically said, there is no way i can get $29 + $6…. Is there anyway i can get this for $35?!
