  • Would it be better to deal with Shopback or buy the 20x points for Apple Giftcards and purchase the devices from there.

    • +6

      Why not both?

Add those gift cards to your Apple wallet balance and based on previous deals from Cashrewards, it stacks

They’re not considered as using gift cards at checkout as you’re using the previously loaded balance by paying with Apple wallet

      • How do you know this? Surely the "store credit" exemption applies

  • Apple has back-to-school promotion of $240 gift cards when purchasing Mac at education prices.

  • +3

    Lots of exclusions :(

    • Clearly, they want us to buy iPads :(

      • Will consider ipad Air 12.9 if they release at a reasonable price

  • +2

Surprised that the MacBook Pro M3 are not excluded.

    • They are excluded on CashRewards, wonder if it's just they haven't added it to the listing?

  • +1

Just FYI, the Woolies promo doesn't start until tomorrow, so you can only use the Coles 20x points deal before this cashback expires

  • +1

They've just updated their exclusion list:

These items are not eligible for Cashback:

AirPods Pro (1st Gen) iMac (Retina 5k 27-inch), Apple Pro Display XDR, BOSE products, iTunes, Trade-in-parts, Gift Cards, Gift Wrap, Apple Developer Programs, Shipping and AppleCare products purchased.
MacBook 14-inch & 16-inch featuring M2 Pro and M2 Max, Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro Max/ 13 Pro (incl Green finishes), iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 11.
Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch SE (Previous Model), Apple Watch Series 3, Mac Studio.
Purchase items using Employee Purchase Program.

    • So 14” M3/M3Pro are fine?

    • and Apple Series 9 is eligible?

  • +3

Sorry this is a dumb question. But I have a question about the following

“This Cashback deal is not valid together with:

Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption
Vouchers or Promo codes not featured on our platform”

How are we able to redeem/use the Coles and Woolies Apple gift cards if it says it’s not valid? Sorry for the dumb question, just want to jump on it and buy a Mac!

  • So is there a cap on the amount of cashback and will it work with 14” m3 MacBook Pro?

    AOC store ok?

  • +1

Any cap on the amount? Any cap on the amount of purchases per account? Missing important info

  • Wondering if the Mac Mini with M3 will be announced this month. If so, will it be eligible for the higher education promotion in 2024?

  • +2

Can someone point to me where are the exclusions and what the limit is? I understand they might change the conditions by 5pm.

I just want to know if the MacBook Pro m3 is eligible if I purchase with Apple Gift Cards

  • Rather than put a sh!t ton of exclusions, they should just list what this offer DOES include…

    • there are less products excluded than included

  • I am wanting to get the M3 Max… It isn't listed on the exclusions… it does say:

"These items are not eligible for Cashback:
AirPods Pro (1st Gen) iMac (Retina 5k 27-inch), Apple Pro Display XDR, BOSE products, iTunes, Trade-in-parts, Gift Cards, Gift Wrap, Apple Developer Programs, Shipping and AppleCare products purchased.
MacBook 14-inch & 16-inch featuring M2 Pro and M2 Max, Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro Max/ 13 Pro (incl Green finishes), iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 11.
Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch SE (Previous Model), Apple Watch Series 3, Mac Studio.
Purchase items using Employee Purchase Program.
We calculate Cashback based on the purchase price, excluding:
    Fees
    Taxes
    Service charges
    Shipping and delivery fees
ThisCashback deal is not valid together with:
Promos or Vouchers not featured on ShopBack
Any exceptions will be at the store's discretion."

No mention of MacBook Pro 16" with m3 max… Just go ahead and try? See what happens? They don't have an online chat to confirm

Is this just a case of them not updating their terms or pasting the wrong ones?

Cashrewards is clearer - they state no MacBook Pro 16"

    • So is using gift cards towards the purchase ineligible for cashback?

      • Shopback t&c's from their website -

This Cashback deal is not valid together with:

Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption
Vouchers or Promo codes not featured on our platform
Any exceptions will be at the store's discretion

      • I would try adding the gift cards to your Apple ID first. Maybe that works?

That is assuming of course that they accept MacBook m3 purchases (my case)

        • +1

But isn’t the maximum amount one can load to their Apple balance is $4999? Not enough to buy the Mac that I want…

          • @FrugalNotStingy: yes but when you purchase I have been told you can use the Apple balance plus up to 8 gift cards … if you have $500 loaded on each that will make $4999 + $4000 = a beast of a machine

  • Terms still don’t mention m3 MBPs or a $ cap. So assuming uncapped 8% and placed a couple of orders :)

You get 20% off AppleCare too

    • +1

      don't need student id

      • +1

        thanks mate!

  • I can't see anything on Shopback Apple Education referring to purchase with gift cards being invalid.

    • It's listed in the exclusions for the cashback info

    • +1

Won't see it on the app but you will see it on the website version.

      • Thanks for clarifying

      • I clicked on the link from the offer email and this is the exclusion list.

        Cashback exclusions
These items are not eligible for Cashback:
        * iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max.
        * iTunes, iMac (Retina 5k 27-inch), Apple Pro Display XDR, and BOSE products.
        * Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch Series 3
        * Apple refurbished products, Trade-in-parts, Gift Cards, Gift Wrap, and Apple Developer Programs.
We calculate Cashback based on the purchase price, excluding:
        * Fees
        * Taxes
        * Shipping and delivery fees
        * Credit card charges
This Cashback deal is not valid together with:
        * Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
        * Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption
        * Vouchers or Promo codes not featured on our platform
        * Any exceptions will be at the store's discretion

It did not mention MBP 14 or 16 inch and yes, using gift cards or balance should be ineligible for cashback.

        • Well then I'm going do a refund if that's the case

          • @icemanmelb: What did you order and did you use gift cards/balance?

I have loads of GCs and was planning to get a M3 MPB but I might give it a crack to see if I will get the cashback. Even if we wait for Cashrewards for a new deal, it will most likely be capped (say $150 max) and M3 MPB might be excluded.

            • @FrugalNotStingy: Ordered last night with mixed of Apple Gift Cards and tiny amount of credit card. The terms didn't mention any caps so will find out in 7 days time although I've put in a support help.

  • Looks like the T&C's have been updated

This Cashback deal is not valid together with:

Promos or Vouchers not featured on ShopBack

Is this cashback available with the cashback from Apple Edu store?

    • Im guessing the T&C's you are quoting above are from the app. If you go to the shopback website it shows the current T&C's

This Cashback deal is not valid together with:

Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption
Vouchers or Promo codes not featured on our platform
Any exceptions will be at the store's discretion

      • refresh cache, looks like its been updated

        latest on the website says

ThisCashback deal is not valid together with:

Promos or Vouchers not featured on ShopBack

Think the use of giftcards is ok and shopback promo says save on mac or ipad for uni. Plus get a free giftcard.

It would be good if this was confirmed by shopback

        • +1

I wish a Shopback rep was here to answer our questions. The exclusion list is too ambiguous.
I placed my order as I don’t want to wait till the last minute. Worst case is I’ll cancel my order or request a refund if I don’t get my cashback.

  • +1

Your right, seems like they have updated the terms on the website to match the app. I have asked on the shopback savers community on face book. If i hear back in time i will post here.

    • alot of people including myself have been waiting for this cashback. Just bit the bullet and purchased.

      • Absolutely. Uncapped cashback + bonus Apple GC at the same time is hard to come by.

        • plus coles wollies points equivalent to 10%

          • @keno: I used the gift cards that I hoarded from last year’s 15% off deal. Can’t complain if Shopback does honour the cashback.

      • Yep, as have I. Fingers crossed it all works out.

        • Do report back when you receive a cashback notification email. My order has an ETA of end of Jan/early Feb.

          • +2

@FrugalNotStingy: Just saw that someone else asked the question on Facebook regarding the use of gift cards & it was confirmed that you can stack with gift cards.

            • +1

@PAFC1870: Thanks mate. Good to know!
The only thing that still concerns me is whether the M3 MBP is eligible for cash back.

              • @FrugalNotStingy: My cashback has just shown up in shopback as tracked.

                • @PAFC1870: Did you use gift cards or Apple account balance for your purchase?

                  • @FrugalNotStingy: I used Gift cards for my purchase. Fingers crossed they honour it. The question was asked on facebook shopback savers community if giftcards were ok and it was confirmed by shopback that they were. I clicked through the Apple education store link on shopback which didnt exclude gift cards in their T&C's. Mine has tracked as $102.47 which is under what it should be, hopefully it gets adjusted later.

                    • @PAFC1870: I am quite confident that they will honour it but a bit worried that the order might not get tracked because it will take around 2 weeks to arrive. I am thinking of cancelling my order and reorder via Cashrewards. I had good experience with CW’s Apple cashback in the past but then again, I find CW misses tracking more and more recently and Shopback have upped their game after that data breach incident a few years ago. Shopback never missed a track for me.

The cashback amount for this order is quite high so I don’t want to see it messed up.

I think the lower than expected cashback amount you’ve got has the $240 bonus giftcard taken into account.

      • Yep, just pulled the trigger and fingers crossed.

        • any sign of this being tracked? Mine hasn't yet

          • @slipperypete: Not sure about Shopback but from my experience with Cashrewards, the transaction only gets tracked once the order is shipped or picked up.

          • @slipperypete: Not yet. Still waiting.

            • +3

@vihand: Showed up on my ShopBack account $218.11 but obviously I will have to wait the full 75 days before I can touch it so it's still not 100% but it's show to be confirmed by March 2024. Lets see when march turnsup.

              MacBook Pro 14 M3Pro

              • @icemanmelb: great news. You got the pro too

              • @icemanmelb: Is the MBP 14 BTO? I am asking because mine is BTO and the cashback is not showing on my Shopback account yet.

                • @FrugalNotStingy: I've already collected my macbook pro 14 m3Pro so it's showing up now. Not sure if you have collected your BTO.. though they take a little while?

                  • @icemanmelb: My order (M3 Max) is still processing as it is a BTO configuration. ETA is 24/1-29/1.
I think I will get the cashback and if I don’t, then the only reason is it didn’t track properly.
                    Enjoy your Mac!

  • I can't seem to see this T&C both on shopback website and app:
"This Cashback deal is not valid together with:

Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption"

  • So, based on the above information, using Apple Gift cards should be good to purchase a Macbook pro 14 M3pro?

Or should I load the gift cards onto my Apple account balance?

    • I loaded the Apple Gift Cards into my Apple Account Balance then purchase the Mac Online

      • Thanks mate. Did you purchase via the app on your phone or on a computer?

        • I purchased it via iphone

  • Still 5% cashback today (last day).

  • Re - Applecare+ 20% off included in the promo

I called up Apple support yesterday and spent a while on the phone. At first they told me that you cannot use gift cards to purchase but upon querying this I was told that we can use gift cards in store (I was asked for my location).

Today I went into the Apple Store in Brisbane and they told me:

    1. The 20% off promo can only be purchase IN STORE (I thought this could be done online or via System Preferences)
    2. Gift cards are not allowed even in person.

I just received an email from them to confirm this as well.

Does anyone have recent experience with this? Is it correct that the promo cannot be purchased online or from our devices?
