IIRC, the .5 is meant to be for automatic tailrotor trim information; but from what I recall it's actually pretty meaningless marketing hype.

what's the different between v911 and s107?
S107 is a great 3 channel rc helicopter,nice for the beginners,the v911 is one of the best 4 CH helicopters for the beginners and the intermediate.
A 4-channel helicopter is able to roll / bank sideways (aileron control), allowing it to perform banked turns. Banked turns are how proper helicopters turn. If aileron control, you can execute slick banked turn, figure-8s, and even funnels.
Trust me, a 4-CH helicopter is a different beast. It got me started with my RC addiction, but that is not to say the S107 is worthless. With this helicopter, you could get yourself familiar with tail-in and nose-in orientation, before moving on to a 4-CH helicopter.
