Oof. I'm on my 3rd pair of Saucony guides. I wanna try a new show but damn these prices are just too good.

    • How do they wear? Are you a runner?

      • +1

Yeah I'm a runner. They wear relatively quickly. I get around 650kms out of a pair before the outside heel wears down too much.
I'd like to try another shoe to see if I can get closer to 1000kms out of it, but this has otherwise been a comfortable shoe for me.

Edit: only started running this time last year so I've only used this shoe so far for road running. So I also have nothing else to compare it to yet, apart from the experience of friends with theirs.

        • Same. The lateral side of my Guide 15 outsole worn out after ~450km. Still using it though for running, probably for another 200km.

          • +1

            @scotty: Impressive supination!

            • -1

              @dtc: I prefer Supermarionation.

          • @scotty: How do you rate the Guides @scotty ?

Recall when you purchased them you had concerns about stack height etc

            • +1

@brawndo: Can't say that I like it as running shoes. At such high stack but it's not "plush" like Triumph.

        • +1

Compared to asaics, on cloud, hoka etc 650km is from my experience both about right from a Saucony and above all of those.

I have some altras for trail running that should crack the 1000 but probably only because pavement wears the others faster.

I'm a big Saucony fan, mostly because they have good midsole flex so my foot can do the impact cushioning as much as my knees/ankles.

I'd like to try barefoot style runners but I have too many shoes to burn through already

At this price is a pretty unbeatable shoe imo

        • To be fair, this is what I get out of my Hokas, so that's not half bad and a fraction of the price.

    • +3

I wanna try a new show

I've read good things about The Bear on Disney+

      • XD. I've also heard good things. It's on the list to watch!
        😅

    • Triumph can be used for 1000 kms.

  • +1

How does the sizing compare to Asics Kayano 30s?

    • +1

Not sure about compared to Asics but I found the Guide 15 half a size larger than previous versions.

    • +1

From the one Saucony I’ve had (Triumph) and the millions of pairs of asics, sizing is the same as asics

      • Same for me. I have purchased an Asics Kayano and a Saucony both over the past 2 years (both OzBargain specials), and they both had a similar fit (the only difference was that the Kayano was slightly tighter in the upper heel). I could finally discard my deprecit Minuzo sneakers (which had been great shoes but eventually started falling apart).

$50 is a superb price for a brand name sneaker in Australia.

  • +1

Is there any difference in how women's shoe is compared to men's? Except the colour?

Mens' Guide are only size 10+. Looking for a US 9

    • +4

Women's shoes are more narrow. Standard width is B whereas men's shoes standard width is D. Also you generally have to add ~1.5 in size when converting. So a men's size 9 standard width would be a women's size 10.5 wide.

  • +1

Just 2 colors in 50 AUD for men :(

    • +6

Does colour matter if you're sweating in them? Never quite understand why people care about colours if wearing purely as a running shoe.

      • Do check the sizing chart as a men's 10 is not the same as a women's 10.

      • +3

Agree. If I'm buying shoes for running colour really doesn't matter.

      • I did a quick google apparently there are some biomechanical difference between the gait and other things, but it's anyone's guess if the the manufacturer actually take that into account.

      • +5

why people care about colours if wearing purely as a running shoe

Because some people don't wear them purely as running shoes. I retire mine as casual sneakers after the outsole is worn out (but the upper and the foam are still great). That's why I stopped buying bright orange or fluorescent green :)

      • +4

Lots of folks care about the looks of their running shoes. It's great that you don't, but surely you can understand that many people choose such items for more than just function.

        • +1

That's why I said 'if wearing purely as a running shoe'.

If wearing for more than just running, then fair enough.

          • +2

@shbshb: I still maintain that many people will appreciate the fashion of it even when only used for runs.

        • Of course, but I've had situations where one colour is heavily discounted over others in the same running shoe ($60 difference in the New Balance 1080s I am currently using and the colour is fine anyway). I only use them for running so its a no brainer for me.

      • +2

it has to match your outfit or else you will get fined by the fashion police. be careful out there.

      • -6

Why do you care what you eat and what it tastes like if you are just going to shit it out?

        • +1

Not quite the same. Runners choose specific shoes for comfort, quality, performance and also to prevent injury. Casual shoes are more about the look because they don't need to support you in the same way.

Actual running shoes are not what I'd expect most people to choose for casual wear, but if you do then yes colour would become important. If you just want a good quality and durable shoe for running it really doesn't matter what colour it is, for me anyway.

  • +1

Great price for an underrated running shoe

  • How do these compare to triumphs.
    Triumphs are so damn comfortable.

    • -1

      Kaise ho bhai saab?

    • -4

Bhai, Triumph ekdum first class comfortable

    • -4

      Kejriwal bura na maan jaaye

      • Hahahhaha

  • +2

The guide is an excellent running shoe, I have 2 pairs

  • thank you OP. Hoka Cliftons are beginning to wear out, looking forward to trying these.

    • +1

you will be disappointed if you want something similar to a hoka. i did the same thing, and went back and bought another pair of hokas

now i have to many shoes, but i love hoka, i also purchased the carbon hoka for race day.

      • What was the disappointment specifically?

        • its not a clifton, lol.

cliftons are a joy to run in at any distance. with the guides, i can't run a long distance, i just keep it short or maybe medium runs.
cliftons are a lightweight neutral shoe with maximum cushioning vs guides heavier stability shoe with low/medium cushioning.
i feel like i can run all day in cliftons, but not with the guide.
my personal experience owning and using both.

          • @Hugh G Rection: I have the Clifton 8's. They're great like you say, great cushioning and ride especially. Except for me they don't fit 100% properly and I get blisters in my arches (probably need some fatter insoles to get it more snug).

The only other problem is a problem with all modern shoes - the soles don't last long enough, so we're constantly buying new shoes that are sometimes still fully good in every other way!

  • No ride shoes.

    Saucondeez

    • -1

      Lol

  • These don't have a wide option which I usually buy, should I go up 1 size instead?

  • +1

Got the Guide 15 last year from the same deal about $70, this is even better deal. Went with the Guide as it’s a stability shoes my feet pronates. After wearing only Nike before I tried these, I never went back to Nikes. You get so much shoes than Nikes.

    • of course, nike does all sports, while running specific shoes will most likely better then nike, adidas, under armour, etc…

unless you put out a fortune and purchase those record breaking marathon running shoes. but the longevity in those aren't very long, i have a pair and save it only for race days.

      • I know, but it's the Pegasus line and that's a running shoe. So it's a fair comparison.

        • pegasus is also a good running shoe, i have a pair. i actually like it more for walking around. i use hoka for running

    • Went with the Guide as it’s a stability shoes my feet pronates

I'm unfortunately an overpronator. I've got a pair of these, but still prefer my Brooks Adrenaline. That said, for 50 bucks and change, this is a great deal for a fairly comfortable, supportive shoe.

  • Is it possible to view all shoes ordered by price? I can't find a way.

    • Hit 'sort' towards top left of page and select it there.

      • only works on some pages. Can't view all men's shoes and sort by price. Or so it seems.

  • last i bought the diadora when they were on special back in june. i must have done 800+km on them and still going strong. these should last another 800km if not more. thanks OP

  • Only sizes 10-13 left for men Ride 15 while the rest is mostly over $100

  • +1

Some additional specials on the Saucony AU website - some are a little pricier, however on the upside there's a much larger range (with some width options) to choose from.

  • Any idea how the sizing compares to adidas and Nikes…?

    • Sizing is same as Nike

    • same, i would go 1/2 a size down for new balance though. i am learning the hard way and have to use super thick socks.

  • dam someone beat me to it on the size 11 on the blue ones.. one of u lucky basterds got the last one.. i got the uglier greys .. gotta be quick around here

    • +4

The greys are much better looking in my opinion. Each to their own

    • Greys are nicer. You won't be disappointed.

  • limited sizes

  • Thanks. Got a pair for work.

  • Got a pair of the Guide 15's, I've always rocked Asics Kayano but I've heard rumors for last couple of years, that this model Saucony is actually a better stability shoe, finally get to test them out, thanks OP!

  • Thanks got a pair for myself and brother

    • +6

its cheap, just buy 2 pairs, no need to share a pair of shoes, that's gross. lol

  • +2

I accidently ordered the wrong size. Emailed them and within the hour they updated my order to the correct size.

  • +1

Are returns free? I can't tell from their webpage.

    • +1

You need to pay for return shipping unfortunately

  • These shoes are for BigFoot!

  • only big size :(

  • Never tried this brand before. Hows the sizing compared to Nike? Love the Pegasus series for years, how is this one compared with Pegasus? The price seems pretty nice!

    • +1

I had Pegasus 38 and Ride 15, both in US 12 and I found them to be similar. Both are slightly smaller than US 12 from other brands. I preferred the Ride to the Pegasus. Don't get the cheap Sauconys like Axon or Cohesion they are horrendous.

      • Thanks! Will have a try then :)

  • Most models of half decent runners shoes all seem to fit true to size nowadays. Just check your foot length/US size and the manufacturer's chart.

  • Damn missed out and saved myself $55

    • +2

there wasn't much. for men's it was only large sizes 10, 11 +. Colours were a bit meh.

  • Thanks op, two pairs bought

  • Can't see to see the Ride 15's?

Would have purchased straight away :(

  • What a relief to see no Rides…
Bought the Guides accidentally recently as never owned Saucony and didn't realise they were a stability shoe. Found them a bit weird feeling for running due to this but given I bought all black I've been wearing them to work haha. Nice for walking

    • +1

Have they brought stability to your workplace? 🤔

    • So 'Stability' shoe model like Guide is suited for flat feet? 'Neutral' shoe model like Ride is for low to medium arch?

  • Comfortable? I'm on my feet all day; standing, running and walking at various points.

Running Warehouse are a bunch of crooks with the customer service of a bin fire. Would never buy from them again.

    • +2

Care to explain at how you feel this way?

I had to call them to change order and it was fine.

      • +2

Yep I've been buying from them for years, always had a good experience.

    • It would be good if you can elaborate.
