Razor Pit 3.0 Razor Sharpener $4.95 (Was $59.95) + $7.95 Delivery ($0 C&C/ $70 Order) @ Shaver Shop

670

Just walked into a Shaver Shop on Boxing day and tried my luck for a Razorpit. It usually used to get some good engagement few years back most times when a deal was posted here. So, I have always wanted to try one. I was told the price is $4.95. I asked three times to make sure I did not mis-hear it. Although not as good as the best price of $1 in 2019 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/508788.

There are more items on sale. Please refer to the original deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/822661. Thank you @Scrooge McDeal.

Just checked it is also available online, free to click and collect and $70 for free standard shipping. Although, it is too late for stocking fillers, a good price is a good price.

Product Description (from the Shaver Shop website)
Sharpens and cleans razor blades
Provides 300% more Shaves on average
Works with all razor blades
Shower mountable with Fog Free Shave Mirror

It claims to extend life of a razor by up to 60 times. I don't think that I have patience to track if I got 60 times or 59 times. The FAQs claim that it works on multiblade razors. I tried it yesterday, and seems to have worked for me.

Got one thanks, worth the gamble to see if it works.

Just buy a double edge and save money as well as have sharp blades all the time instead of trying to prolong some $300000 dollar cartridge

    • +3

Or buy a DE razor AND this and prolong the life of the DE blade. Tempted to try for $5

    • +1

yeah make shaving a challenge to save a few cents

      • +4

Love cutting my face everytime I shave to save $50-100 off my annual budget.

        • +4

It's a better cut for your skin
Less irritable once you know what your doing

        • +3

Now that I've adjusted I'd never go back- and it didn't take long to switch. Get one on the less aggressive side and you'll have a hard time cutting yourself once you're used to it. I use this one

@saintpat: i've tried a de and i prefer keeping my blood inside my face. some people like electric razors. myself i prefer aldi multiblades they last for weeks and are under $30000 a pack

it's great if de works for you but they're not for everyone

            • +2

@realaccount627465746: Part of the problem that some have with DE is there are so many styles of handle/head and they all cut differently. I started out with something that just happened to suit me then after a while I changed to a Merkur adjustable with the blade exposed as much as possible. If I'd have gone to that stage as my first try my face would probably look like it had bloody slices of prosciutto hanging off it.

Even some YouTube videos proved very useful as the method is a bit different to the multi-blade razors.

I been using it for years and still can't get a clean shave. I think I've got the knack to use it by now, but not to get a good clean shave like I could from a disposable razor or even an electric shaver. But I like feeling old timey so I'll keep using it. Homer uses a safety razor like this in early Simpsons seasons and it's what Ricky Ricardo uses in I Love Lucy.

      • +4

DE are a way better shave and far from challenging.

      • +3

Not sure why think using a de is a challenge, I can shave with a de without a mirrio and not cut myself. Its not a straight razor, it wont cut you unless youre putting stupid ampunt of force (like you do with disposables).

My DE can shave off 6 month beard in one stroke, 2 more strokes against the grain and you got baby bottom smooth skin. My old mach 3 would take atleast 10 strokes to get the same trim with its 3 blades, let alone all the clogging it does to the blades.

        • @krisspy which de razor and blades do you use? I have a fatip as my first and it goes well. I need more than one stroke to cut through my few week growth though

          • +1

@Robot16: Merkur futur - this is quite a heavy razor and is super agressive. Wouldnt recommend unless youre really confortable with de razors, it can be slippery.

Feather blades - sharpest from my experience

Merkur 34 - alot gentler, i tend to bring this around when travelling as its a shortie.

I'm looking at trying the muhle r41, reviews say its pretty aggressive.

      • +1

DE is so much easier, my skin is dramatically better since changing.

Because it's so sharp you don't need much force at all, so it doesn't pull on the skin. And since they are so cheap you are always using a clean blade without any damage.

Appreciate that everyone's skin and hair is different, but DE shaving is not difficult at all.

    • +1

Get good quality if you do. Mission to find any in person and the blades I got were low quality. Put me off I guess.

      • +1

        Astra blades go well

        • I used to use Derby and Astra, but I found BIC blades better than either. Feels sharper, lasts longer.

      • I buy a big pack of Feather blades (200 I think). They are the best blades for me that I've tried. They work out at about 4 cents a blade and a blade lasts 5 or so shaves. I keep seeing the 3/4 empty box and thinking I need to order more, then realise I've got nearly a year's supply left.

    • +1

You can also stop shaving for the low cost of free

  • I heard good things about these then bought a copy that didn't do much 😭

    • No wonder the pack says 'Original' and the online listing says version 3.0. I thought that I got a really old stock. Thanks for your comment, it now makes sense.

  • I just noticed, the title is partially cut-off. The free shipping is for purchases over $70. Someone has already reported it. It should get fixed soon.

Don't know why even need this but bought thanks op, guest Xmas gift sorted for the Misses.

I read all the amazing reviews and bought it for my Gillette, It does NOT do anything.

What did help was getting rid of my Gillette. I switched to cheaper brand with cheaper cartridges (as I always cut myself with safety razors). Now I change my Cartridges more often with the cheaper brand. Much Much better than Gillette.

    • +1

Which one did you switch to?

      • +1

There are some really good Chinese ripoffs on Temu, they walk and quack like a Gilette Fusion Pro and are even compatible with the Gilette handles.
        I think I paid $14.98 for 12-14 blades + 1 handle

I use these when I am too lazy or in a hurry and cbf using my DE razor.

        • +1

I never ordered anything from Temu though till now. Are they as good as Aliexpress?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: They're fine, I'd just recommend sticking to their website and avoid downloading the app. It looks super scammy with all the vouchers and stuff that they offer you and the constant nagging with notifications will do your head in.

They're legit though, I've received several orders and they've been quick and items of good quality.

            • @bonezAU: AE has started to get a bit voucher happy these days too. I turn the notifications off as they were excessive.

    • I've been using Gillette Fusion for 2 years now and still on the second blade that came with the handle. Can't complain with that.

I always dry the razor after use and store it in a relatively dry drawer in the bathroom.
I only shave 2X a week so YMMV

Apologies, when I was posted it did not come up. It is unfair to you that your original deal did not get more attention.

      • +1

It's ok, I don't mind. I just linked the deal if people want to check the other stuff on special.

        • +1

Thank you. I have now linked to your deal in the post itself.

  • Provides 300% more Shaves on average

    hahah come on now….

    • +2

I think that's a typo, it provides 300% more shaving. I shaved my face yesterday, look down, and my balls are smooth too. Talk about shaver magic

  • +2

I bought one of these previously. Literally a piece of rubber, and was not that effective. Since then have just used the palm of my hand. I know it's cheap but if I had my time again I wouldn't bother.

  • I got one last year for $1. Still unopened

    • I got one for $1 too but opened it and put it back in the packing. Mirror will come handy for camping!

This might sound strange but … you can also swipe the razor backwards (ie in the opposite direction to the cutting edge) along your forearm just before shaving and it’s enough to sharpen the blade a little bit. Like using a knife sharpening steel

Anything with a little bit of friction works. Old days it was the leather strop; a strip of denim (from the decrepit jeans you finally agreed to get rid of) also does the job well (but you need to anchor it to something)

This rubber mat does the job as ok and it does give you an extra 5-10 shaves per blade. Not worth $60 though!

I have switched mostly to a DE blade, but I won’t be as condescending about that as most DE advocates.

I got something similar from Target a few years back. I use it on Mach 3 and Aldi multi blade razors, and it definitely extends their life.

  • +1

    Got one.
    Thanks OP!

  • +2

No way this is worth $60, more like 60c

  • Prob better off just using denim, i.e. an old pair of jeans.

  • Shame no good deals on electric toothbrush

  • How do you select/check click and collect avail, or does that happen later in checkout?

Edit - ignore. Comes up later in process which is odd as you have to share email addy before knowing. No stock at my nearest. CBF travelling to further store for this alone.

    • Nah, just repurpose any old denim clothing.

  • +1

Title says its a Wahl product but I don't think it is.

  • +2

I've got one of these and it works well - definitely extends the life of multi-blade cartridges anyway.

Recommended - especially at this price.

  • I cant seem to find it anywhere in Sydney, and delivery makes it not worth while sadly :(. Anyone else found some in sydney?

  • The Leaf Razor is a game changer of sorts.

  • +1

    Got two thanks
