[Refurb] Sony XR75X90K 75" X90K TV (Factory Seconds/Refurbished) $1,799.00 Delivered @ Sony eBay Store

TOP6DEC

A decent price on a recent-ish (but now discontinued) model 75" Sony - superseded by the X90L which retails for $2700~. Not too many deals on 75" units available from what I can see.

This is from Sony's factory seconds store, so these are refurbished/repaired units. I've read some horror stories but the majority turn out fine so I took a punt.

I was tossing up between this and the TCL C845, but lack of Google integration and reportedly buggy software in the TCL made me go Sony (and have been running a smaller X900H for a few years now with no issues).

Couple it with 4% cashback @ Shopback on eBay refurbished items for an extra $71.96 off.

I've stopped caring the inbuilt software of the TVs lately, since you can just attach a Google or Fire TV devices that you can put on top of any TV you're buying as long the quality of the panel is good

This - I really hope TVs are just going to follow the same arc that car entertainment systems have. Most "smart TV" OSes / GUIs are just downright unreliable, buggy, incomplete, or shitty (just like car entertainment software used to be). Now the default is that cars just use CarPlay / Android Auto - TVs should do the same - Apple TV or Google TV.

Manufacturers just need to stop bloating TVs with crap, they just need to have good panels, reliable HDMI inputs, eARC, and allow for control through HDMI.

      • You can actually get these readily. They are commercial/professional panels. Thing is, there is really very little benefit of going with one over a consumer smart tv. While you bemoan the inbuilt software (I'm in agreement with you), at worst it adds very little to the cost, and at best it makes it cheaper (advertisements).

Basically, just don't connect it to the internet, and go into settings and have it automatically go to the most recently used input upon startup.

I purchased the same model brand new from JB Hi-Fi at the end of March for $1900. If you wait another three months, you might be able to get the X90L model for the same price. Link to the previous post.

Recent deals for NEW were under $2k, this is a horrible deal running the gauntlet of refurbished to save not even $200. So not worth it.

Also the X90L is a big jump in quality definitely consider waiting for a deal on it. Box damaged is the way to go not refurbished when it comes to Sony eBay store

    • Valid point - not sure I'd call it a horrible deal though.. What makes the X90L better? Direct from Sony and still get warranty, I needed mine now-ish so this worked for me. I would've grabbed a box damaged unit if they had it!

X90L has more advanced image processing but more importantly it has a significant increase in dimming zones (better backlight control/less blooming). Kind of need that if you are also making the tv 30% brighter not that extra brightness is really important except maybe for specular highlights or explosions. Oh and aesthetic has changed for the frame between the x90k and x90L.

If you have followed the x90L deals (new and box damaged) you would see its the one to wait for instead of refurbished older model.

The 75" x90L "box damaged" new was on sale recently for under $2,000 so definitely better than this x90k refurbished for $1800

Pay less than $200 extra to get this years model that is new pristine instead of last years refurbished russian roulette 👍

  • i just bought a A80L Series

  • How is this a deal? Keeps the post count ticking up though I guess. Quality of ozbargain continues to decline sadly!!

I remember when the homepage was full of awesome 'wow that's a great deal' stuff now it's refurbed discontinued tvs, refurbed home camera systems, usb flexible twisty lights that apparently you're not allowed to twist in case they break… etc.

Refurbs for example should have their own subforum hideaway. Especially at this price!

  • Hey OP, did the coupon display on the listing for you? It doesn't for me but code works.

  • Just a word of warning for those buying Sony box damaged. I got a 75X90K during black Friday special - the price was less than 1600 so fantastic…..but It was a DOA unit so clearly Sonys 2nds QC is not great. I should have listened to the overwhelming majority on the risks of these. Of course black Friday was over by the time it was delivered and Sony refused to give me a discount on another unit once pricing reverted to normal.

  • Mine arrived yesterday, in fantastic condition and with no issues at all. It had been opened but clearly never mounted or used, I would hazard a guess that it could've been an open box return.

One downside was how long postage took and there was no tracking available, but could've been a side effect of the holiday period.

Ordered 27/12, delivered 08/01. I got a call from DHL a few days before confirming delivery date and on the day ensuring I was available to receive the TV.
