  • No USB?

May not be important for some people I spose, but I bought a new car stereo about 2 months ago and I have yet to use the actual cd player.

    • I personally use this + AUX

Nah, no USB. Perhaps that's why they are getting rid of them. Personally, I prefer to change songs on my device, rather than battle the head unit's search function. Aux-in is sufficient for this.

  • Wife's Elantra stereo clapped out 6 months ago, 04 model.Pulled the unit apart but couldn't see any signs of blown components (but I'm no expert). Put in the Sony from her last (written off) car. Wouldn't turn on anymore. What happened to yours?

Doesn't seem to want to pick up radio any more. However, if you give it a sharp smack in the right spot of the dash, it works for a random amount of time. Probably just a loose aerial, but it's her birthday, so what better way to surprise her than put in a new stereo using my own manly hands. Birds love that stuff.

+1 for your love-life advice and your use of the word "Snaffled"

      • If the Fonz/Juke Box/Happy Days method makes it work sometimes, you probably have a dry solder joint on the circuit board.

        • All the more reason to replace it then right?

        • replace, or buy a leather jacket.
