  i was about to buy the 10TB, just over $400. But google told me international warranty was replaced with region warranty, which means I wouldn’t be able to claim warranty for this product in Australia. Am I wrong?

    Yeah that's the manufacturer warranty. Amazon is still bound by consumer laws in Australia so if it breaks within a reasonable amount of time you can ask them to replace or refund. I've personally found Amazon customer service good in this regard YMMV
