  • Radio worth $140?

  • Only skins, how much are decent batteries?

    • +1

Comes with 2 batteries as per pic and description

      GBA 12V 2.0Ah (1600Z0002X) 12V 2.0Ah Li-ion Battery

      Also says 6 years warranty

  • Weird they sell this kit for $297 but individual kits of one drill for $119.

    Pricing doesnt make sense

    • -5

      That’s because there rubbish

    • +1

Note: they do not sell a seperate impact driver kit for $119

The $119 1pc kit, is the GSR 12V-15 drill driver that comes in the cheaper $246.95 2pc kit.

This $296.95 2pc kit comes with a GSB 12V-15 drill driver.

Impact drivers are generally more expensive than a drill driver which can help to explain the pricing gap.

Plus an extra 2ah battery which retails for $105

Also that kit comes with a smaller GAL 12V-30 Li-ion Battery Charger. This kit comes with a GAL 12V-40 (1600A019R7) 12V Li-ion Battery Charger.

3A charging current vs 4A charging current.

Separately, add the extra $468 worth of bonus redemption skins & store credit on top of the kit value.

This is a cracker deal being able to double dip on 2x skin redemptions & bonus store credit.

Well said, yeah Bunnings have same kit for same price with no extras or bonus credit so it's not a price jack up. Just a really good deal

    • +4

I definitely wouldn't say gutless, the portability of these more than makes up for the lower power motor.

    • +4

Got its place at the right price. Easier to manage too. I'm still regularly using my 12V gear.

    • +1

i am guessing you never used these.

      • Yes I had the drill took it back for 18v dewalt as it was that gutless it doesn’t drive screws through hard wood, had to pre-drill pilot hole first wtf?

        • You should pre-drill hardwood anyway.

I use both Bosch Professional 12v & Dewalt XR ecosystems and I find them the best for their intended use.

    • Very wrong, this 12v stuff now is very good. Very popular on the worksite for a lot of trades too (usually it’s red though…)

    • What did you use them for?

I’ve used a 12v drill, driver and recip saw at work numerous times and they were really good, and the compact size was far better than 18v tools when hiking through dense bushland.

    • I know several cabinet makers who use 12v for 90% of installation work. Old mate is way out of touch which is ok but not when combined with outright certainty of opinion.

      • -3

Cabinet makers lol using particle board. Installing cabinets maybe but constructing stuff nah. What builders, electricians and other tradies out there still use 12v? It’s ok, u guys stick to 12v lol, opinions are like ass holes everyone has one.

        • +3

For woodwork and light metal sheets etc 12v is more practical. You dont need the power required for concrete/brick and steel

          • @easternculture: Agreed I know these have a purpose for some people doing light work but as an all-rounder drill its probably not the best for hardwood and masonry like you stated

            • +1

@J B S: You need a hammer drill for masonry.. different tool

This kit has an impact driver & drill driver.

I know mechanics, sparkies/ techies, chippies & plumbers that can use 12v gear all day without needing 18v.

Nothing light use about their application when referring to professional grade 12v systems in a professional setting.

It can be more practical, while being compact, lighter, safer, more efficient & it gets the job done.

Have the right tool for the job.

        • +3

Its not so much what they still use but what they now use, modern brush less 12v tools bear no comparison to stuff from a few years back
Mechanics love the 12v stuff and my sparky mate is probably 50/50 12v 18v. Some tools/jobs need the extra torque of 18v or 54v lol but 12v is a good option to work lighter and more efficiently where you dont need it.
Not a Milwaukee fan but they have a massive inventory of 12v tools aimed squarely at pro users.
