    $134.99 ?

$123.50aud, be mindful of international transaction fees and such:
    https://viofo.com/dash-cam/143-a119-v3-with-gps-2k-25601600p…

I've had one of these for about 3 years, good for the money IMO… The CPL filter 'seems' worthwhile…

I used coupon code "VANCOUVER5%" for a further~A$6.18 off thanks to the honey Chrome extension.

      • Excellent, that works ! = $117.33… or $136.17 with a CPL filter…

    • Nice, I just got two delivered @ $116.08 Each with code MERRYXMAS

  • You need to include the price in your title.

      Thanks it was fixed.

  • Better off with the Mini 2

    • Just out of interest, and to save me researching, what makes the mini better?

Has wifi, so can download clips straight to phone rather than having to use micro SD. Also has the new Starvis 2 image sensor for clearer picture

Thanks, found the no.1 tip from the comments:

My #1 rule with dashcams: go off the assumption that it didn't capture the license plate so leave the audio recording on and say the license plate.

        • +1

          Exactly!

This sentence should be printed on all dash cam boxes… Just like they print warnings on cigarette boxes.

  • Had one of these previously, it was good. Sold it with the car.
On the lookout for a 2 channel unit for the new car.

  • Do they have one runs on battery/chargeable? Don’t want to run cable

    • +3

Batteries in dashcams don't fare well in Australia, the BBQ factor is too high so they fry quickly.

  • Does this use super capacitor or battery?

I have googled it, some websites say it using super capacitor, but the Amazon says" Batteries ‎1 Lithium Metal batteries required. (included)"

    • +2

      Capacitor I still have mine.

Currently running Viofo A229 Pro, Vantrue Nexus 4 Pro and Vantrue S1 Pro. Those are all steps up but the a119 v3 is still an oldie but a goodie.

      • I’m interested in the Vantrue N4 Pro as well, how’s the parking mode on them?

        • Both are decent and both have bug fixes for the.m

          • @adrianhughes1998: Has the impact detection been improved for the Vantrue N4 with recent updates? Watched some videos showing 12 seconds or so before it actually wakes up

            • @Red Pandas: It has with some update there's a setting to reduce it to six seconds or so. If you value it go for Viofo over the Vantrue

    • +1

      Capacitor.

I left my car outside in 40 degree weather with sunshield underneath the camera, no issues. Ive had it for about 4 years now.

Maks sure you turn on the HEVC file format.

  • I’ve been quoted $220-$280 for professional install which is a bit much considering the cheap price of the Viofo dashcam.

Noticed the Blackvue B-130X Power Magic Battery is currently on sale for $374. Could I just buy that, plug it into the cigarette socket of my car and plug this to the usb slot of the Blackvue battery and get parking mode that way you think?

    • +1

Yep… you can just run the cable around externally, most of them come with cable clips…. It's often pretty easy to pull off the trim up the side of the windscreen so you can often run the cable up under the dash and then up under that trim, and end up with a pretty neat DIY install… It would be worth Googling "your-car dashcam install", you may find a video or details so you can do a decent DIY job…

    • It is possible depending on your dashcam, most Viofo can. However, it will enter parking mode differently, compared to hardwiring - you will need to wait for 5mins of no activity (USB), as opposed to changing immediately when car is off (hardwire).

Another thing to consider, is the placement of your battery, it’s heavy and chunky so it needs to be tucked somewhere safe and securely. Also, wires can get messy if you don’t hide properly behind trim and car’s carpet, as you said, it will go from dashcam>battery>socket.

For my installations, I usually hide it under the passenger/driver seat for my customers cars, because I can have the wires go under the carpet, so no wires are seen and use the included strong velcro tape so secure it to the carpet.

Feel free to PM if you need help.

  • These are great but die in 1-2 years.

    • +1

Mine is still going strong after 3 years, around 40,000km…

      • My A118 was good, my A119 died in like 1.5 years, warranty support zero.

    • +1

My original one from 2019 is still running strong in my car which is also parked in a north facing driveway. Hardwired with continuous parking recording.

Recently snagged the mini 2 + hk4 + 128gb for ~$170 during black friday so will chuck that into the missus car when i get the chance

  • mine has a white screen, still records everything but i cant do anything now on it since the screen is blank ;/

  • Could I feasibly use this as a rear camera (I have the A119 mini for the front vision in my car)?
