  • Thoughts on this for a BYOD for kids high school? Thanks

    • battery won't last long enough for school due to this being a high performance device

      • Thanks, appreciate your help.

So what, they don't have power points at the school?

        • +1

Most classrooms will, but not good enough to rely on. There's always going to be others wanting to charge their phones/laptops, and some power points may be tucked behind shelving or the teacher's desk.

@CrispyChrispy: Back when I was at school (1997) the laptops of the day would last no more than 2 hours. We got by.

@Mondorock: The future is now old man! /s

Kids these days will be expected to use their laptops for most if not all periods within a school day, meaning 3-5hrs of SoT. Textbooks are online. Lessons (ie. Google Classroom stuff) are online. This wasn't the case 20 years ago.

            • @Mondorock: Yep, and as big as a phone book.

            • @Mondorock: But you didn't have to use laptops for an entire day in every class did you. What a stupid comment.

              • @fishnchipsncoke: Do they really use them in every class? Why would you need a laptop for maths, for example, when a calculator would suffice?

                • @Mondorock: According to my young cousins they used laptops instead of text books for a lot of subjects. Rather than carting around a large books.

    • Weight says 4.07. If that's kg then that's a heavy laptop to be lugging around, and fans will probably be quite loud on this.

      • That's the package weight, not the laptop weight

Actual weight seems to be around the ~2kg mark, which is still decently chonky

  • Thanks OP
Exactly what I need - a light duty gaming laptop + a Nintendo Switch OLED
