    Nice first post.

I'm not sure if there's 10 in stock but being a high value item it may be ok.

Good deal. Has been around the $2000ish mark a few times (more recently with an additional 50mm 1.8). However still an all time low I believe.

hows this one go with 4K filming?

    • +2

The S5 is OK at 4k@24/30p, but has a big crop at 4k@60p (1.5x) :/

It also has the old contrast based AF, rather than Phase Detect AF of the S5ii! Not a big deal for photography, but might be a deal breaker for video (depending on your focus preferences while recording) ..

For 4k@60p without crop and a cheaper price (but smaller sensor), keep an eye out for the Panasonic G9 (it gets down to ~ $1000 for body only) ;)

thanks for that (sorry replied to wrong comment)

Just to add to the feedback above, if you're doing the filming by yourself (i.e. vlogging), having a good AF helps a lot. I used to have an S5 and sold it eventually as my shooting has changed.

Cheers good to know, most of the filming would be like that

fantastic thanks for the response, those are the sort of things i was worried about

Id save and wait for a deal on the S5II, it's much better

Better to buy this Panasonic Lumix S5II/20-60mm Kit + Bonus 14-28mm $2805, or similar one from Amazon AU itself. Considering the latter ultrawide zoom has a market price of $1200, that would make this series 2 S5 20-60mm kit cheaper than op's series 1 S5 kit.
Even then, the same S5 II package had been cheaper last month.

    • Is the $1200 market price justified for the ultrawide zoom lens? I'm aiming for a set under $2000, and personally, the 50mm lens is more crucial for portrait photography. What's your take on the practicality of investing in the ultrawide option?

      • Ultra wide is ideal if you want to do Astro, indoor, architecture, city, landscape etc where you want wide field of view. If you don’t need it, you can resell for $800-900, making your net cost for the s5 ii 20-60mm kit below $2k.

Very nice but I just bought a Fujifilm X100V which I'm loving, otherwise this would have been very tempting!

    • +2

How much did you pay for your X100V?

    • Fuji rumours is suggesting a new x100 model will be released in the coming months for anyone who's interested. No doubt RRP will be high and stock will prob be limited. Worth holding out though if not urgent.

      • Personally hoping the X-t5 takes a dip when the announcements are made. Holding out for a decent sale.

        • That works be sweet also but that requires lenses which make the starting price pretty high.
