I'm 99% sure its been this price since mid November. They push back the deal expiry time by 2-7 days every time it expires so it's basically a semi-permanent price at this point.

Also consider the R1380DB for $10 more which has updated Bluetooth (5.1 vs 5.0) and a 25mm tweeter (vs 13mm). Way uglier though.

    • Way uglier though.

Call me ignorant, but they're too similar (and both pretty standard-looking) to call either "way" different.

And for $10 more, the BT and tweeter upgrades sound worth it.

Great point re the price having been pretty much the same for a while.

      • I guess they both look like nice with the speaker grille off. The tweeter in the R1380DB is also symmetrically mounted (in relation to the bass, which some people like) whereas its offset in the R1280DB.

I think mostly for me is that the speaker grille looks like it narrows at the top in a blocky way (making it look like they stacked a small rectangle on top of a large one lol).

    • in-store only, very low stock.

Worth reading the comments from previous deals on these and other dirty cheap Edifier speakers.

They're super affordable and sound good, but there're also some nuisances.

      Re: there're also some nuisances

The remote on this for number one

      • Remote, controls on the side, LED placement (so you can clearly see if it's on or what mode it's in - not saying this very model has a problem with it), no input/headphone output on the front.

Not saying these are bad. It's just that you might be missing some of what I listed.

        • The sound too. I've got a pair, it's probably fair to say that they don't sound great. But for the price, they are still pretty good value.

Got the R1280DBs for $129. Seems like lowest price it's been

  • Be mindful, the picture shown is the R128DBs model with the way superior remote.

The remote that comes with the R1280DB advertised here is way inferior and is classed by some as the worst remote known to mankind!

  • Dumb question, how do you connect these to your PC (budget options preferably)?

    • +1

I use the red and white cable to 3.5mm jack and use it in the headphone port. Or you can connect via bluetooth

  • Bought these at that price a couple weeks back, Impressed with the clarity and sound. Bass is almost non existent though. Is there a budget way to add a sub to this or was i better off just getting the 2.1

    • +1

In theory, it's possible. You could use the speaker output (where you clip in the 2nd speaker), run that to high level on your powered subwoofer and then out to the 2nd speaker. Take a look at the 2nd photo in the link to see what I mean. Not all subwoofer will have this option though. Cheaper woofers will generally only have

Definitely rate these speakers, agree that bass isn't great but honestly best sub 100 speakers I've ever used
