Yeah, was specifically waiting for the Complete just for the freestanding dok.

Gen5 weighs a tonne and its very large. Heaver and larger than the V11 and samsung I have. Any prolongued use and its going to give you a strain to your wrist or shoulder. In a way i'm lucky mine arrived DOA, so I could return it.

    • +1

Strongly disagree with this, it does weigh more, but it's not that big a deal after you use it a couple of times. It's a slight transition but not that significant a change.
Having a toggle via the button rather than a trigger is a godsend.
The light attachment and the hair detangling attachments are incredible.

      • +1

Well its the agreed concensus in all the reviews too that the vacuum is just too heavy. Just try using it with the brush attachment and holding it up to do shelves etc for a while and you will feel it. I would suggest anyone interested in buying the Gen5 to pop down to the closest store and compare to the V11 to 15 etc and the samsung jets. The button on the samsung is much better placed than the Gen5 too. You can press it and turn on the vacuum with the same hand rather than using the other hand. Im not some dyson hater either. Have gone through 2 v6's and still using V7, v11 and a samsung jet 70

        • According to measurements in the real world the gen5 is .25 kg more than the v11.

Also rtings website if you'd like to check.

          • @Figure8: So it is heavier. 250g makes a big difference for a hand held device. Just like lifting a dumbbell at the gym.

            • @Sammyboy: The extra 250g isn't causing notable discomfort.

If it is, perhaps try lifting one of those aforementioned dumbbells for once.

              • @Figure8: Someone's getting a bit defensive. I have my own gym set up (Iron Core Sparta as well as 40kg adjustable dumbbells). So yeah I do lift fine thank you very much

              • @Figure8: The 250g may make a difference to some ppl. It's personal preference. That's why @Sammyboy's recommendation to test in store is the way to go if you're concerned

                • @MonkeyMagic4u: In the very first response I made to the initial comment, I noted twice it was a bit heavier but not a considerable difference.

Certainly there will be those that find the difference a concern, however it really is a minor variable.

It really doesn't deserve a comment of it "weighs a tone and its very large".

Let alone this amount of discussion at all.

                  • @Figure8: It may not be a considerable difference to you but it may be to others. That's the joy of an open forum. People can express their opinions and they don't have to agree with you or vice versa and that's ok.
Ps: Dyson V11 listed as 3kg vs Gen5 @ 3.5kg = 16%+ additional weight. Some may find this relevant to their decision on whether to purchase

                    • @MonkeyMagic4u: I was actually the one using the open forum to present an alternative perspective in that it wasn't a considerable difference in my opinion.

Never disputed there was a difference despite what is insinuated when Sammyboy said "so it is heavier".

On rtings it said it was 2kg for the v11 and 2.25kg for the gen5 so a difference of 12.5% but either way I think what's important here is:

                      • gen5 is weightier no matter how slightly or greatly.

                      • some find this an issue, some don't.

                      • you should go in store and consider the differences first hand to ensure it suits you.

Ultimately the intention was to ensure people weren't turned off by the negative contrast of the difference in weight between the models.

Thanks for interjecting calmly, cooler heads prevail.

  • We have this exact model and we are very happy with it. My wife uses it everyday and no issue with its weight. It is heavier than other devices for sure but we didn't see any problem with it.

Dyson have done a good job of making their flagship lineup confusing. Which is supposed to be the best between the complete and absolute? Or are they the same with different attachments? Or does one just have additional attachments over the other?

    • +2

      Yeah, absolutely and completely agree.

According to their website, the Complete comes with additional attachments (Scratch-free dusting brush, Awkward gap tool, Extension hose), and a floor dock (Floor Dok Multi) instead of a wall mount (Wall dok).

      • +4

I would say the Absolute version isn't absolutely complete.

You could use DECSAVE5 coupon for an additional 5% and get it delivered for $996.55.

    • Thanks. I'll edit the post

Tried this at the shops and it was just too heavy for me. The V15 is 400g lighter and noticeably easier to use.

  • 8% at shopback now with additional promo happening - spend $700 and get $30 back, bringing total down to $886.

    • May I ask where the promo is from-spend $700 and get $30 back? Thanks

      • +2

If you go to the Dyson page within the Shopback app/webpage, there’s a ‘Challange’ section underneath.

        • Thank you for your help!

  • @ozbxoxo wiill the cashback/challenge work with the 5% off coupon? I saw some terms about not working if using other coupons not listed on SB.

    • I didn't realise the T&C about promo codes not valid with cashback until after completing the purchase….. First time using shopback, guess I'll find out shortly if it goes through….

      • @Migna did you get any update on the shopback? Thanks.

        • Did you get your cashback from shopback?
