Not good enough to downvote just because its out of your price range. But i also agree, a 55 inch in this day and age regardless of panel type at this price is outrageous.

Ripped off? It’s one of the best OLED’s on the market. There are many other cheaper options if this doesn’t suit your budget.

        • +1

did you do your research? It's a very good tv. It's not a 'bang for buck' kind of thing, it's a premium, top of the line, kind of thing. Of course you're gonna pay a premium.

For bang for buck, I'd recommend a phone stand from aliexpress for $2 and then just sit closer.

          • -2

@Aequitas: You can get 98% of the performance for $1000 less. Premium/top of the line, is an illusion.

            • @Magik: Hierarchy is not an illusion. It’s like saying Car Model X is just as good as Car Model Y because it does exactly what Car Model Y does (take you from point A to B) and costs significantly less. Horses for courses.

            • +2

@Magik: and 96% of the performance for $2794 less. (assuming you already have a relatively recent phone anyway).
or a cheap 55" like eko for $2400 less and still 80-90% of the performance.

In what way is it an illusion? It's like a bell curve. As you get towards the top of the line stuff you're always gonna be paying exponentially more for smaller and smaller improvements. Look at the A95L, it's 9.2 on rtings and $5.3k for 55". It's the same for any luxury goods.

It just depends on your use case/wants, if you want a great top of the line experience then ye you're gonna have to pay. If you want a shitty experience then it's gonna be much cheaper. I don't get your point at all.

Also why not get a 40" or even smaller while you're at it? there's no extra pixels with bigger sizes so technically the performance is exactly the same but it just costs more, so makes sense to get the smallest size possible

Lol you negged, can you point me to where this tv has been cheaper in the past or where it can currently be had for this price
The G3 is the top of the line LG model and one of the best on the market

        • +3

Then get the C3 model, G3 isn't for you then.. still this is best price G3 55" has been on record so far so it's a good deal for those that want the G-Series. Based on your statement above, the C3 is more in line with your needs.

        • +4

No it's just not a good deal for you.
Looking at rtings and trying to put a value on .2 difference just isn't really practical, using that logic the LG is only 2.2% better than the A80K and Sony's top of the line A95L is only 3.7% better than the entry level Sony OLED using the QD-OLED panel. If you see these panels side by side they are clearly a better than 2% picture quality. I do think that Sony is a great deal, but some people might be after a flush wall mounted top of the line tv

      • The only way I saw it cheaper was with spin and win coupons. I could have got the 65" for not much more than this, but I really want a 77" :)

nearly $3k for a 55 inch is wtf paid around $1.6k for my C7 and less than this and maybe $2.6k for my C9.

    • C3 is ~$2k at 55" inch

Despite looking similar, C and G are different letters of the alphabet.

      • Yet they are basically the same TV when it comes to picture quality.

        https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c3-oled-vs-lg-g3-…

The LG G3 OLED is better than the LG C3 OLED. They're both nearly identical, except that the G3 doesn't come with a stand, instead having a slim wall mount included in the box and a fully flat profile that allows the TV to be completely flat on the wall when wall mounted. In theory, the G3 can also get much brighter than the C3; however, in practice, you won't see much difference except in certain contexts, such as when bright white clouds are displayed. They both offer DTS audio support this year, a clear improvement over both preceding models.

        • So it’s a fully flat profile, fits using a slim fit wall mount, gets brighter, and that is nearly identical? Sounds like quite a different tv to me.

        • It does come with a stand. I got mine from LG website 77” comes with the stand.

        • +2

          Peak Brightness left the chat.

        • All 55/65/77 LG G3's come with a wall mount and stand in Australia

      • despite looking dissimilar, 7, 9 and 3 are different numbers of the alphanumeric character set

  • FWIW price matched and paid $2,516.40 plus $49 shipping from JB HiFi tonight.

Stacked on some gift cards at 5% (corporate rate) for closer to $2,450 total. At $2500 it's worth a G3.

A reminder of my post pre-Black Friday announcement post on 'Expected Prices for Real Deals LG C/G 2023':

    LG G3 65" $3000 to $3250
    LG C3 65" $2500 to $2100
    LG G3 55" $2750 to $2500

LG C3 55" $2000
