  • Worked for me

Can I just goto big w and buy a giftcard and use afterpay to get the 20?

    • +5

Yes, just bought $50 gift card from Bigw

      • Did you go to the store to buy it? Or did you order online and pick it up at the store?

        • Go to store to buy a $50 Wish Gift Card

          • @kk128k: dang….no BigW nearby. Pretty sure they'll close this loop pretty soon, just like they did with the $40 off code.

            • @kron: Nah, they wouldn't care. Any in store purchase counts. I combined mine with a JB perks voucher to get Pikmin 4 for $34.

          • @kk128k: Are giftcards refundable, in case the code doesnt work in store?

  • Noob question. How does this work.
Only in store? If I am paying with AfterPay card, how do I apply the code?

    • +8

Apply the code in the app in the My Afterpay > Promos section, then use the card at any in store location. Just used it for a tank of diesel lol

      • Haha i see.
        Thanks it worked.
May I know where you used it? No servos around me showing up.

        • +2

You can use in any store Australia wide. Just tap the digital card.

          • @nubzy: Would AP work at EG Ampol?

            • +1

@tsuitenaishoujo: Yes. It's just a digital Mastercard, the staff wouldn't even know you are paying with Afterpay.

              • @nubzy: But aren’t there only certain business who offer Afterpay or will it work on any eftpos terminal?

                • +1

                  @unity1: Any Eftpos terminal

                  • @nubzy: I thought You have to pay $10 a month to Afterpay for the Afterpay Mastercard if you don’t you can only use it instore the stores that except Afterpay

  • I still have $30 and $40 promotion from previous post in my account but it seems like not applying on final payment. are my $30 and $40 wasted?

    • Yep and likely to happen to this one soon

  • +1

No email received but code worked. Thanks OP

  • Can't get JB Hifi click and collect to work. How do I find out the retailers available?

    • Big w works

    • +3

      In store only

    • Not working at Woolworths.

  • +2

So the process would be add the code to my account (been accepted), then go to big w buy a $50 wish gift card and pay using the app through apple pay?
And then I owe afterpay $30 over 4 payments technically?

Sorry never used pay in store before

    • +1

      Yea

  • Coles gift card?

    • If you have the promo code added in your app, then you just need to spend $50 in-store (shouldn't matter which as long as it accepts in-store AfterPay payment).

    • +2

Coles in-store do not accept afterpay. Workes in BIGW just now.

  • Thanks OhhPee!

    MVTID!

      • -1

Worked for me and have done at least 3 instore purchaces before

        • -1

Edit the OPs description then (and those neggers go and test it out twice and report back lol)

How can I know in store the discount is actually applied?

    • Same question.

  • +1

I used AfterPay instore before and still work, try your luck

      • +1

When do you get to know it worked ? After the amount is debited from the card or will it show before that it's applied.

        • Won’t know until received email from Afterpay

          • @kk128k: So it’s blind luck?

            • @Spizz: I think so, as when I paid thru ApplePay, it showed $50.00 debit from BigW

              • @kk128k: Won’t you get a screen in the Afterpay app with the 4 circles and the amount to be paid underneath each circle, and if the discount is applied, you will see a lower amount underneath each circle?

  • +1

I've had AP for so long, have no idea if I've ever used it in store or not.

    Looking at history, appears not.

  • Can someone confirm if it works once or multiple times.

    • Can’t add the promo code again after used

  • Shame most stores I want to get a Gift Card from are already closed tonight.

  • +1

Worked with big W purchacing wish gift card

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/109053/screensho…

    • Had you used afterpay instore before or was this the first time.

      • +3

Used it twice at myer and once at big w before this

    • Online or in store

  • +1

Tried paying my bills using Sniip and it works :)

    • Does that mean Prezzee will work?

    • How do u pay Sniip using Afterpay? I tried ApplePay selecting afterpay card, it declined

      • Oh sorry forgot to add I got the Afterpay Plus card so it works with any payment that accepts Visa card

        • Oh, bummer, that's the paid version of it?

          • @hanofee: $9.99 per month

            • @easternculture: Thanks, will just try my luck when BigW reopen tmrw. With BigW, you just pay normally using afterpay card stored in Apple/GooglePay wallet?

              • @hanofee: Correct. I just did it now and I have used Afterpay in store before and still got the discount.

I think if it allows you to add the promo to your account you should be good to go.

              • @hanofee: Yep, save card to mobile wallet and pay

  • Is Bunnings work?

Will this work if JB Hi-Fi gift card is purchased in store?

    • Just bought a $50 gift card from JB store and it worked. Just make sure to select AfterPay card from ApplePay :)

  • Where can add code?

  • +1

Just managed to make it to local Bigw before closing, the code worked, $50 charged at time of payment but when checking the Afterpay app, the total is shown as $30. Very happy coz I missed the earlier $40/$30 off code.

    • +2

      • 3 seperate transactions on 3 promo codes today?

      • +1

        Lucky you!

  • Anyone know if this works at Kmart? And if Kmart has gift cards ?

  • +1

Where do we put the code?

    • +1

Make sure the app is up to date then My Afterpay (bottom right) > Promos.

      Cheers OP! 🍺

Here's hoping that they don't pull this one early as well.

  • Thanks Op

  • Thanks OP.

I read the thread before posting this, so I knew where to put the code…

  • +1

Just took the risk and purchased JB Hi-Fi gift cards in store. WORKED!

    • Where did you purchase it from?

      • Doesn't matter, you can purchase it from any JB Hi-Fi store.

        • Oh I thought you bought it from other retailer like Big W

          • @foxes28: I purchased gift cards from JB Hi-Fi store which is another retailer like Big W

    • Thanks for taking one for the team.

  • How do you use Afterpay in store? Do you need an Afterpay plus card? Says I need to give $9.99/month to use Afterpay in store which nullifies the promotion greatly

    • +2

No you don’t need the plus card. But you can only pay in stores that accept Afterpay which are listed in the app

  • -3

I never knew how people were getting into such dire financial situations with Afterpay

Reading the comments helps it make sense

    • +3

My sister pays heaps in late fees to all these deferred payment systems, she spends more than she can afford, even goes to the extent of moving money out of a bank accnt so these systems cant debit what she owes, she'll never learn, she is the complete opposite of an Ozbargainer.

      • Sounds like she doesn’t know how to use the app either

    • If we extrapolate @easternculture’s savings over a year, we get around $33k of savings from Afterpay alone. Hang around on OzBargain all day, and your savings just keep piling up. So, assuming the average, laser-focussed OzBargainer puts these savings into an ING Savings Maximiser earning 5.50%, that’s an extra $1815 to add to the pile each year, making a conservative target of $35k of free money. Repeat every year and I think you can see where this is going. Sure, there may be some taxes to pay on the cream on top, but that’s the price of success, I guess…

      • +5

Do you think the people above, who can’t figure out how to pay in store (or even what paying in store means), are capable of working that out?

        • +2

I suppose I may be overestimating people, but I am an optimist at heart. I concede that not all of us can rise to the legendary, stratospheric levels of OzBargain wizardry that @easternculture has mastered, but at least we can embark on this odyssey of learning together, and together we can accomplish amazing things.

It’s abundantly clear that anyone who’s discovered the OzBargain website is already a winner at life. You can learn the basics like arithmetic at school, but if you want to enjoy the elite lifestyles afforded by treading the OzBargain way, checking the website religiously is, perhaps, the only true path to consumerist nirvana

          • +1

@tharlow: Maybe OzBaragin needs a leaderboard to see who's screwed the system the most made the most savings
