Seiko Presage SRPK15J Midnight Blue Moon $399 Delivered @ Starbuy

A handsome Presage for today's Star Deal. Price is much the same as other Presage deals recently. I personally prefer the leather strap vs. the s/s bracelet, it sets the blue sunburst dial off nicely.

Very nice. I'd consider if I wasn't left in debt from Black Friday

My credit card is still not talking to me

    • Haha I'm in the same boat. Would have grabbed this or the Alpinist immediately if this was last week. However just spent 2.5K on other stuff.

      Same but different

    • Dials are slightly different blue & finish, and the SRPJ13J has a S/S bracelet. Otherwise, size, movement, crystal, etc, is all the same.

Nah, they're totally different models, the one @ZJack linked is relatively new to the Presage line

His one is slightly smaller at 39.5mm. Smaller diamond crown. guilloche v sunburst dial. different indices and hands etc

        • Both have same rrp and sale price, wondering your thoughts on whether it’s as good value? Ss band for same price seems good?

          • +2

@ZJack: I dunno man, they're quite different. The one you linked does have a bracelet, but lower end Seiko bracelets aren't that great, but at the same time their leather straps arent that great either. However, it's easier to swap it for a strap of your choosing, rather than finding a matching bracelet with the right end links for the watch in this deal (you can probably find cheap ones on ebay or Ali).

If I had to buy one, I'd buy the watch I like more, and ditch the strap/bracelet for a shell cordovan strap. But you're gonna be wearing it so pick the one you find more desirable.

    It's a good-looking watch

  • Great if you're hanging out for the blue dial specifically, however the white dial can be had for the same price with SS bracelet.

    • If your referring to the SRPE19J, the dial is a very light blue and quite nice in person.

  • wow this is a stunner…

  • I like it….but no money :-(

need exactly this but solar…im over automatic

    • Your best bet would be Citizen Eco-Drive or G-Shock GAB2100.

      • +1

thanks. i have a gshock and citizen diver already but was really hoping for a fancy watch like this and not have to worry about automatic since I would rarely wear it.

  • OOS… damn!

  • I bought one of these (in a different colour) a while back. It's a nice looking watch but doesn't keep time particularly well. Mine runs fast by approx 1 minute per day so I have to make sure I remember to adjust it regularly.

    • That's quite inaccurate.

Website states +45 / -35 seconds per day

However if you have a rotation of watches, it shouldn't matter with a 41hr power reserve.

my SKX (7s26) was similar until I started experimenting with which way i placed it on the night stand.

For my SKX specifically, if i put it crown side up (so rest it with the 9 oclock side standing up facing the ceiling) during sleep hours, it managed to even out the day time running. It was so accurate that it would lose less than a minute a month.

The timegrapher app on my phone showed it was a few seconds fast per day but for some reason, placing as per above netted a ~0s/day deviation give or take.

I'm so over automatics for now, so its solar/quartz for me or nothing. Maybe a spring drive grand seiko might tickle my fancy but nothing in the range is cool enough to drop the cash

TL;DR - try playing around with how you store your watch when your not wearing it.

      • Hmm interesting, I'll give it a go (btw isn't the crown at 3 o'clock, so the 9 clock side would be facing down with the 3 o'clock pointing up towards the ceiling?).

I don't actually wear it that often. I've got 3 watches - a Citizen (Eco Drive), an Edox (battery) and this Seiko. Seiko probably gets worn the least of the 3, so I guess sitting it crown side up for days at a time might end up making it run too slow rather than too fast? I guess I can try to remember to swap it back and forth at night if I haven't worn it that day since I tend to give it a few turns each night, but yeah it does seem a bit fiddly having to do that just to get a watch to do its core function of keeping time properly.

        • +1

Yep I mean crown side down, sorry. But ymmv, just play around until you make it more accurate.

I order to do this, you probably need an app that you keep a log in. I can't remember the exact one I used in the past but you want to be able to check and log the time regularly throughout the day so that you can judge if the night placement is doing anything.

  • Looks nice but would prefer it to be ~38mm for a dress watch. A little thick at 11.8mm

    • It looks quite big in real life due to its shape.

      • +1

I have a couple of sports watches and chronograph that are 40-43mm.

I also have a vintage Omega dress watch that looks around 36mm mark.

I don't need another watch, but I think I'll add another dress watch around the 36mm size to the rotation. I think that dress watches without complications look better in that size.

    • +1

Yes I like mine around the 38mm mark, too. Especially since this watch has a pretty clean/simple face, the extra size doesn't do much for readability or anything.

I’ve always wanted to like the the cocktail time but the dimensions aren’t quite right imo

  • Waiting for the white zen garden to get a daily deal. But this looks gorgeous too

  • Available for $398 here… https://watsonsjewellers.com.au/products/seiko-presage-cockt…

    Will post as separate deal.
