    I think the perpetual license only includes minor version updates for version 14.

    Next major version (v. 15) may need a new purchase, and it depends on the company’s future decisions. They usually release major versions every 2-3 years.

    I use PDF XChange Editor myself. Has served me well. Would recommend for sure - more than Adobe Acrobat and Nitro PDF (which I have used in the past).
