    Bought another 20

    • Good luck activating them

      • It's not that hard on live chat over several days.

      • Why?
Should be able to activate 150(at least) a month.

      • +1

Activating is the easy part. Deleting them, that's what sucks.

        • do i need to deactive the number or it will just go away after the data expired?

          • @john smith123: It will go away 180 days after expiry.

            • @io: Well it'll become a problem within 30days if you're ordering 20-30 SIMs every week

          • @john smith123: You'll need to delete numbers on a regular basis if you are buying 20 sims at a time as you can only ever have 35* active sims on your account and they take months to deactivate naturally.

    • 120 bux profit

    • You bought 20? Seriously?

      • Telstra will block you before you reach 10 and at the same time add a flag to your account

  • How do people use these deals? Activate new numbers each time?

    • +1

Port existing number each month for free mobile and use the profit to buy the next months sim

      • +7

        Then eventually buy a Tesla.

        • +3

          Tesla saving + 6.00

        • +6

          You don’t already have yours????

          • @HamBoi69: Nowadays I love using the data from new Boost SIM cards for the WiFi in my cashback-purchased Tesla.

        • Eventually? I've already bought one.

      • Noob here. So you activate them all within 30 days to get the cashback, but don’t need to use them straight away?

        • +1

I only buy one each time

        • +4

I buy 1 or 2 sometimes, just activate them and then throw them away, or use the number to register a new jbhifi perks account, or a new stickermule account to get the 10 stickers for 1dollar, or give them to friends who are visiting so they have a phone number and internet while in Australia

      • Can you port an existing number already with Boost?

        • +1

You need to port to another provider first then back to boost. I have been using Lebara $4 for every other month.

          • @nocure: What if the time comes to port back to Boost but there are no cashback deals? I'm tempted but it seems like a bit of an effort to port out every month plus the risk of there being no cashback deals when the time comes to port back to Boost. I'm currently on Kogan's prepaid 365 day plan so no need to think about it for a year.

            • @vee_el: What if the time comes to port back to Boost but there are no cashback deals?
then you go with other provider who is currently giving promo/discount.

even with cashback, one failed to track and wow you paying full price for a month and 4-5 months of saving/profit gone.
one month is very quick basically every 3 weeks you will be worry and searching for new sim - time is money

              • @CyberMurning: Ye this is true. Having to worry about porting out every month would be an inconvenience.

    • I just use mine for data. No need to port, I just take up a new number. Repeat every 4 weeks.

      • Do they ask if you have more than 5 numbers on activation if so what would you say?

        • +3

to make small profit during difficult time like this when inflation is so high.

          • -1

@CyberMurning: Guaranteed way to have your account flagged.

"For profit" is a direct quote from one particularly switched on CS rep (who refused to delete some numbers off my account one time) as a reason for having an account flagged for fraud.

Not to mention it's also in the T&C's.

            • @wavesgreen: I got asked when trying to activate 5 with around 20 already active why I had so many already and needed more, I said I use these for data and he said I can turn on auto renew and not worry about running out of data, I just closed the chat and started again, got a diffetent rep who went a head and activated the 5 without any questions.

  • +1

    Noice thanks OP

  • Bought one from previous deals on 2nd November. Activated on 11th Nov. Cashback still pending, does anyone know the typical timeline for cashbacks approval? It says 5th Feb 24, does it take that long? TIA.

    • Yeah, I think the cashback is around 90 days after the purchase.

    • Cashrewards pays out Boost cashback the end of the second month after purchase. e.g. Aug purchases were paid end of Oct.

  • +2

Don't forget that you can get $23.23 by clicking through TopCashback and submitting a claim under their highest cashback guarantee.

    • Don't think TCB pay more that matched offer. I think you can only get $23

      • +1

Just edited it. Big maths fail from me. It's 1% extra on top, not 10%.

$23.23 is the correct number, not $25.30.

  • +6

I imagine one day people buy 5 then none got tracked…. Then spent hours days weeks complaining to the cashback provider… Without success. That will wipe all the years of profits..

    • Exactly. People are already struggling either buying or activating them.

      • -1

the marketing head at boost should wake up.. this kind of promos do nothing good for them, except wasting money, time and creating e-waste.
they just should give low prices for existing customers so they stick with them forever.
but yeah, big corporate doesnt know what is loyalty

        • +4

big corporate doesnt know what is loyalty

They actually do know Loyalty Customers, they bend them over.

          • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: oh yeah true.. they know loyal customers are the most easiest target. just suck their blood till no more then move to the next

        • Marketing is a genius…Boost activations is up 27273747% year on year.

Looks good on a graph, and thats how execs get bonuses and share valuations go through the roof.

Said exec bails..dumps stock and then a year later when the chickens come home to roost and Boost has no cashflow says " look how bad it has gone now that I have left".

    SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG
We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

    • Need to activate using new email. Their systems detect you have one than one number with them you can't activate online. Need to do via live chat or call them to activate.

      • This is to purchase, not activate.

  • why does it say activate by 27 Nov on the website if you have 30 days?

    • Where does it say that?

I think they mean order by 7am 27 November, not activate.

Boost don't support esims yet. It would be impossible for the SIM to be delivered by tomorrow.

    • I only see sale ends 27th

      • 65GB on first 3 recharges for new customers. 35GB on 4th recharge. Activate by 27 Nov 23 and 3rd recharge by 29 Jan 24.

        It could be typo 😕

    • +1

      That’s for bonus data

  • +1

Man, whoever said there's no such thing as a free lunch wasn't talking about this paired with the $4 Vodafone 7 day SIMs from Coles. Anyone still forking out for a phone plan while Boost could be paying instead?

    • +3

Shhh we don't want Boost deals with profit to end.

      • +1

No we do not. Long may the gravy train roll on!

    • +1

      Free lunch?
Geez between snackback, this and other things it's free breakfast, lunch and dinner for weeks, if not months to come.

    • +1

what if you failed to get the cashback? would it be paying full price to boost? and what if buying multiple just for the profit sake? 1 fail equal to profit from 4-5 purchases gone

      • Buying multiple SIMs just to make 5 or 6 bucks every time increases your odds of failure, true. I'm talking about saving the 50 or 60 bucks per month on a regular Telstra/Optus SIM contract, porting in and out with Boost every month for zero cost.

  • Do you have to insert into a phone to activate? Or can it just be done from the sim packaging

    • +1

Just from the packaging, never need to open it.

      • Great looks like i'm going to become a "Booster"

    • Just sim number and ID, once activated you don't have to put into phone.

  • -4

After moving from Telstra upfront to Boost
I have left both apps on mobile.
Got a message to use up my points from Telstra.
So I ordered the projector for a $1.82 delivery fee.
Scammers tried then to scam my credit card with around 200 Euros.
Has Telstra gone the Optus way?

  • Does anyone know if the cashback actually gets declined if you dont register the sims within 30 days? I'm finding it hard to believe they could even know? I've wanted to buy a bunch of these at once but have only ever bought 1-2 at a time because of having to activate within 30 days.

    • +3

Wouldn’t risk it. There would be no activation reported back to cashrewards meaning the terms of the offer are not met and cashback will get rejected.

      • +1

Yeah the thing people are missing is that even if historically/anecdotally Boost has been authorising cashback without checking the sim has actually been activated within 30 days, all you need is for Boost to start checking and you're screwed. Especially if you've gone all-in and bought bulk quantities.

Something has definitely changed with Boost since the new financial year and altering their fraud detection (or whatever the eff is going on with their purchase system) and I feel they are getting close to actually cracking down on profiteers.

    • Don't take my word for it but I've had all cashback confirmed despite a few sims ive forgotten to activate which were many months ago…. So yeh I doubt they actually check seems like too much work for both sides.

  • +2

So many 28-day and $300 12-month deals but no good $230 long expiry deals. I miss those $150 days

      • that's the $300 deal he mentioned.

    • Same here, just want to sort out family's mobile plan once per year, cbb to do the sim swap for a family of 4 months in months out.

Does anyone know if TA has confirmed if Cashrewards will do another big cashback on Boost 12 month plans again this year (beside the $300)?

  • Hi if I purchase the $12 one will I still get $17 cash back even after purchasing the $17 one with the $23 cash back?

Can I activate both of them at same time?

    • Yes, or buy another $17 one.

      • Oh so you can also get cashback for buying the same item? How many times it this allowed? Cuz on shopback it's just once usually.

        • +1

As many as you want for Boost with Shopback or Cashrewards, just one on each purchase, return to SB/CR and click through for a second purchase.

You must return and click through Cashrewards for each new transaction.

  • +6

I have officially joined the 'something went wrong' party

    • +1

That only happens when Boost have calculated that you have accumulated enough cashback profit for your Tesla. One free Tesla per customer seems like a fair compromise

    • +1

Been “something went wrong” since Friday :(

      • -2

and you are (still) wondering why?

        • +2

I think he is just wondering. It's not nice to get people's name's wrong..

      • Use a different browser

    • Me too, since a couple of days ago. Have tried mixing up all sorts of stuff to get around it, to no avail.

  • Not sure if @TA or anyone else can help? Bought one of these and I've activated it online and got a number but I think the SIM is faulty as it keeps showing NO SIM when tried on multiple different phones. Does this still count as activated even the sim was never used?

    • If it shows as active on your boost accnt you'll be fine.
I don't use all the ones I activate.

      • It did show up briefly. But I've raised this with Boost and now they've removed it and issued a new sim card over to me that'll probably arrive after the 30 days expiry for activation. So not sure now if that'll count.

  • For those getting error messages when attempting to buy: I have been getting the error for a while now (last time I was able to purchase successfully was start of November). As of yesterday I have moved to a new property and have a new mobile number. I used all of these new details as well as a new email address and was still rejected. I have a feeling it may be the credit card that is flagged.

    • I started getting error, then I bought under my wife's name. I have only bought few for her and still getting error. Have even tried another CC, still. Wonder who can help find a fix.

    • After buying just four in the past year, I've been blocked since August.
I've tried different email addresses, cards, IP addresses, date of birth, name and big variations of my address. Still "Something went wrong".

I'm wondering if once they pick up one blacklisted detail (eg email address) that they blacklist all the other details entered as well (card, address), or whether they've just blacklisted the whole street.

      • Same here, I'e only bought like 6 or 7 this year (one each month). Still got blocked.

I even tried using a completely different recipient with different address, different everything. Even a different card of mine, still got blocked. I guess it's because of the debit cards having the same details …

  • I find it interesting that the profits seem to remain high ($4+) between each Boost Mobile cashback deal now that a lot of people are getting the good ol 'Something went wrong' issue.
