You should, it will be the last generation with manual.

      • Could become a classic. Some guy is gonna pay top dollar for that manual.

        • +2

          Self respecting men drive manuals

    • Is the current Sport made and assembled in Japan? Had x3 sports, all the kids learnt to drive in them, daughter has 2008 hand me down, 110,000km , fun car to drive.

10% off after 3 years of price jacking lol

    • Just like all car manufacture lol

    • +1

Hmm, I wonder if some sort of major world event occurred in the last three years? Maybe one that had an impact on the global supply chain and labour force? And maybe these factors influenced supply and demand in the global market somehow??

      • ok going by your logic considering the supply chain has very well stabilized can we expect the car manufacturers to reduce the price ?

    • This

    • And nothing will prepare you for the price of the accessories.

      Eg.

$600 for a welded, folded and painted steel diff shield.
Now I know they aren't in vogue with the average narcissist, but at $100 for a single mud-flap I can see why people are passing on them.

No wonder retailers are failing to sell stuff now, the price-jacking has killed markets everywhere

What about the Vitara? That's a half decent vehicle, I believe?
Anyone have any experience with it?

    • We have a Vitara, base model. Got it just before rona and is the 1.6 manual. Only paid 21k drive away and I would hesitate to pay too much more for it. I actually love it, but it's a cheap run about car for the wife. Build quality is decent but materials leaves something to be desired hence the hesitation.
Look, it's a cheap lightweight car. It's fun to drive but as with any SUV it's a compromise. Ride is quite bouncy and has some lateral movement. Servicing is cheap, haven't had any issues with it (6 years old now) and fuel economy is pretty good due to it only weighing about 1050kg and the tiny engine.
Can't speak for the new engines (are they all 1L turbo now?) but i actually am glad we got the last of the 1.6 because it's such a basic engine. I believe that's why they were updating it because it didn't meet euro emissions so they couldn't sell it there.

      • Just had a quick look and I think they still offer the 1.6VVT and the Turbo Variant is names (unsurprisingly) 'Vitara Turbo' with a 1.4l

Is 10% off RRP really considered to be a deal? Surely this could be negotiated at any time of the year.

It's amazing that this deal has so many positive votes.

    • True. But after covid, getting a car soon has become important rather than money for many.

    • +3

It's a deal for zoomers who can't communicate well enough to negotiate because they weren't socialised as children.

      • Here here

      • So the boomers are to blame for not teaching their children??

        • Of course

  • Wow now waiting for Tesla to catch on to the deal shouldmt be to long…

  • +2

If they sold a Carry van I'd be it in an instance.

  • All I need now it's $30K. Any deals on free money?

    • Up the rent for your tenants to pay it off for you over 5 years. ie +$96/week

Besides Toyota, which still seems to be very supply constrained, I think there are going to be some great car deals late December and then into early next year.

  • +6

Used car stocks piling up, new cars will start piling up soon too, don't think this will end up being a great deal.

    • Been eying the i30 Sedan N since it was ready for order 2021,2022 for 56k driveway. I've now seen a couple 43k listings by private sellers on Carsales recently and every week a couple dealer demos gets listed. Gonna wait till 40k or high 30s 👀driveaway

    • +1

But used car price is still way too expensive than prepandamic era. Like the same car I bought 5 yrs ago, now it's still 20% more in price, despite being 5 yrs older and extra 30k-50k on odometer… Crazy!

      • +1

Inflation, government inflated some of the money away is part of the problem

  • So much for fixed price eh

This offer of discount strictly applies to the recommended retail price (RRP)
I have never paid RRP for any new car and 10% off RRP is not a bargain.
And their sale runs for 2 hours only. Do they expect people queuing from the nigh before trying to get a "bargain"?

    • +2

They’ll have 3 staff and 50 OzBargain folk per dealership. 2 random customers won’t realise what’s going on.

    • Dealerships are selling new Jimny manuals for $37k (I enquired the other day). No dealership is anywhere near the 32k RRP.

  • +1

I still use a 95 Vitara as the farm bush car, picked it up some crazy guy for 600 bucks pre COVID

    Absolute beast with muddies.

Beats the 20k gators/UTVs we have.

    Nothing can kill it.

  • This isn't America, what dealers here are upping prices above RRP?

    • All of them? A new Jimny from the dealer is $37k, a opposed to the $32k RRP Suzuki Australia are quoting. What Suzuki says and what dealers do are unrelated.

  • +1

Don't forget 10% off aldi $25 pocket money visa debit cards

  • Offer not available in QLD according to the fine print

  • Interesting.

In the market for a car, and the 5 year / unlimited km warranty sounds promising.

How's the reliability of the newer Suzuki's?

Looking at either a swift or a Jimny..

    • +1

Swift and Jimny are completely different cars though?

They have excellent reputation for reliability although with all makes it pays to research the specific drivetrain.

    • +1

The swift 1.0 turbo is a fun car to drive, runs on fumes and reliable.

Does feel very small inside, similar to Mazda 2 and Yaris. Wouldn't want a adult in the backseat.

      • Ok, thanks.

Obviously would need to test drive them then, but looking at something more Corolla sized.

        Thanks

  • Just checked Swift prices on Carsales and most appear to be cheaper than the 10% discounted prices, mainly due to it not include on roads.

  • No stock of the Swift Sport in SW Sydney anyway

  • Did anyone buy one?
I was at the dealer yesterday and the guy said 30500 for a swift sport in orange with black roof. It was a demo with 270km
