Nice. Penrite HPR 5 (and others) also on sale. Under $10/l is pretty good these days. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/163379205179

I could only purchase 3 of using BFEX30 before it stopped letting me.

  • +1

    Great find!

  • It won't let me buy multiple purchases with BFEX30 :(
This code can't be applied to your order.

    • Can only use 3 times and must be single item per purchase

      • +1

I tried that.. 2nd time to buy another and it didn't work.
        I managed to buy one.

        • +1

In stock again if you want to get another

  • +1

    OOS

    • +1

Check seller's other items, there's a few hundred other listings for the same thing just with a car model in the title.

  • Stock is back

    • Thank you. Updated. Game back on

  • +1

    Oos again

    • 3 available as of now

  • +5

Just bought one using BF20AU code. Still a decent price I feel.

    • +1

Me too. Excellent deal. Usually 5L is around $40 delivered on a good deal

      • Yep haven't seen it below $45-48 for 5L for ages, so even at the 20% code it's a great deal!

    • I know right. Already bought 2 with 30% off. So tempting to get more as it is a great price.

  • +1

    Got one. Thanks OP.

  • got one, though being Sparesbox am preparing to be dissapointed

    • +1

what problems have you had with them? They've delivered everything I've ordered from them.

      • Ordered brake rotors which were supposedly in stock from their ebay store as well as checking their website. only to be greeted with a delay email because they didnt actually have stock. was told stock was due to arrive within the fortnight. fortnight came and went and nothing. got the run around for another 2 months. order received after 3 months,

Its also how i discoverd this fb group page

      • +1

I’m on the never buying from sparesbox side, used them 3 times and every single time it’s taken 3+ weeks to arrive. Never again.

      • +1

Yeah I've never had any issues myself either, but I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I also never buy anything that I need urgently either.

        • Yeah hence why I took the gamble with this. non-urgent and not specific so would be OK with a refund

  • +1

    OOS again…

  • +1

actually, there was one more in stock… I think if you keep refreshing they might be releasing them slowly.
Just search 5w-30 in the eBay search and click on the link through there… it seemed to have stock again.
I've maxed out my BFEX30 code.

    • +1

Go with BF22AU if you want to stock up more.
      Still a great price.
Best to get two for the extra 15% stack.
You are right about slow release of stock. Updated the post.

At least to last a few more years… I change the oil every 10k and only do around 5k per year.

        • If that is the case, do an oil change yearly. I'm sure the oil is still good, but probably not the best as it can be.
I do a change every 8-10k. Just when it suits me, work out to be around 8-9 months.

  • +1

This is good oil, cleaned my old diesel Prado engine up with 5000km changes. By the 4th change the oil didn't go immediately black. Great fuel economy too as light weight.

    • Is this for diesel engines?

      • Yip, without DPF. See the listing description for details.

        Mine was the 3.0l

        • I see, works with both petrol and diesel.

  • +1

    Thanks, Bought.

  • +1

    Grabbed one, thanks.

  • +3

If you ran out of BFEX30 coupons, you can buy 2 which gets you one at 15% off, then with BF22AU applied it’s $68.5 each ($137 total) which still is pretty good.

  • +1

thanks OP, i don't have ebay plus but still good enough.
    Order total: AU $140.51

    • Got proof?

    • +3

Unnecessary panic alert! While you're better off using unopened oil, unless you're not storing your oil properly it should last many years without significant deterioration once opened. The oil in your sump will likely be in FAR worse condition midway between your oil changes. Plenty of discussion around on the topic if anyone feels the need to indulge.

    • +1

The operating conditions in any engine are much harsher than any environment you store engine oil in, assuming the lid's closed…

This is engine oil, not food. Heck, even opened food oil stores for years.

      I'll leave this here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11751393/redir

    • Would be interested in evidence of it, synthetic engine oil doesn’t even really deteriorate over time as analysis of oil samples has proven.

It can be contaminated by moisture, but it doesn’t react with anything in the atmosphere like you’re implying it does

    • Hardly. It's oil, not brake fluid.

    • Got any new oil that you've had sitting around for too long? I'll take it off your hands… Saves you throwing good oil down the drain.

  • +1

Thx OP. Was looking for oil discounts last night but nothing cheap popped up (IO error?).

Stock ran out on your link but ebay options showed this diff but related deal for non-Plus buyers ~$76 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164040817226

Prices may come down again near Xmas but $7.60/l is unders (good enough) atm.

  • You have to buy the containers individually to get the 30% off coupon working. Ridiculous but that's the way it is.

    • Yep
      To slow us down

  • Amazon has 5-30 in the LL spec (bmw merc?) for $67.88

    • That's 5l presumably?

    • cheaper on SCA

  • I was able to use bfex30 for 1?

    • You can use it 3 time. But only 1 item per transaction.

    • it stopped working for some reason…. but when it came back in stock I was able to get it working.. keep trying.. it should work.

  • It wouldn't let me use bfex30 had to use bf22 code

  • Keep having issues with OoS and this store failing to supply orders/cancelling orders. Hopefully they can honour this one.

    • They have multiple posts for the same product

  • Does the oil filter need changing as often as the oil on a 1000klm/yr car ?
I change the oil reasonably often but not having to do the filter each time would save busting out the trolley jack and stands just to get the under-car trim off for filter access.

    • I'd change it at least every 10k.
I drive around 5k/year.. and change the oil every couple of years pretty much…
I just got my pink slip with no problems, the car is 12 years old now and still starts first go…
Only has 60k on the clock.
I have had other issues with the car, but they weren't related to the oil…. they were coolant seal/gasket…thermocouple housing, control arm bushing, flat battery (after about 5 years).

    OOS

  • So has anyones order shipped yet?

    • Yes.
      Tracking provided 23 Nov
Picked up today 27 Nov by carrier please.

    • Yes. Bought 22/11, sent 24, expected this week. CouriersPlease.

    • Mine arrived yesterday.

      • did yours come in any packaging?

        • Cardboard box

    • Contacted SparesBox and they informed me that its on back-order. Suprise! /s

  • Got mine delivered last Friday.

    • did yours come in any packaging e.g. box or plastic bag?

      • +1

        Came in a brown box

      • Ordered from sparesbox many times and is usually in a brown box with scrunchedup paper to reduce movement.
This time, they just slapped the postage sticker on the side and called it a day.

The courier usually just throws it on the porch when boxed, despite fragile and arror pointing upwards stickers (one incident the diff oil container exploded and leaked) but this time they placed it, upside up correctly as well when i checked the cctv.
But the container is more exposed now and was slightly beat up (not damaged though)

  • In stock again.

  • Is anyone still waiting for order to be dispatched? I got email update soon after placing order that the items are on back order and new order have been placed for it to be delivered when the items are in stock again. The items are in stock but no update about the order but money taken out.

    • Contact them and escalate to eBay if they dont reply. I got all my orders. Slow but got them.
