  • So this is basically the IPS equivalent of the recent Acer OLED laptop deals?

    • Acer OLED laptops are faster as they use H series chips. OLED is more power hungry than IPS unless it is a dark screen. This one (HP) use the U series chips which has lower power consumption but slower. IPS uses less power than OLED but this one has high res screen so it uses more power than FHD IPS.

I really want to know the build quality of HP for this particular model.

This one (HP) use the U series chips which has lower power consumption but slower

Unless the H series CPU is being used as a desktop replacement or a gaming laptop, the efficiency is terrible:

        i5-1335U vs 15-13500H

U series = same single thread speed using 1/3 of the power and generating much less heat

… but this one has high res screen so it uses more power than FHD IPS.

This HP has a variable 48-120Hz display which combined with the Dynamic Refresh Rate Switching in the Intel iGPU, automatically clocks down the refresh rate to save power just like an iPhone

        • excellent explanation. Normal laptop is 60Hz, I am not sure 48Hz saves much power but HIGH RESOLUTION + 120Hz does consume a lot of power.

        • Unless the H series CPU is being used as a desktop replacement or a gaming laptop, the efficiency is terrible

Can't you just undervolt the H CPU to be more efficient?

  • Anyone know if this is with touch screen?

    • +1

      No Touch Screen.

  • Price has dropped on this at JB Hi-Fi and is now $899.
Officeworks price beat puts it at $854.05

  • Deal reactivated, OW have priced dropped to $748 to match JB
