Red Bull Mobile Unlimited Talk & Text + 5GB Data P/M - 12mths Access $365 + Free 3mth/$1 HTC

81

CHEAPEST UNLIMITED MOBILE PLAN IN AUS (as far as I know).

Different plans on offer they start from $20 (http://www.redbullmobile.com.au/pre-paid/prepaid-plans/)

BUT the best deal now is if you pay up front for one year $365 (365 access) you get extra 3months free (or a HTC Explorer for $1)

For the first year (12+3mth offer) thats about $24.33 / month access on average. In second year onwards its $30.42 -
I dare anyone to post cheaper unlimited offer with same data ammount (5GB or higher) :)

I went for the Post-Paid 365 days + 3 months as I need international & additional number access (only post paid version), but either way its still just crazy cheap mobile acceess.

You can port your number (YAY good bye Vodafone).

For 365 offer, clicky here : http://www.redbullmobile.com.au/pre-paid/sim-packs/access-36…

Enjoy!

    YAY good bye Vodafone

You are aware Red Bull use Vodafone…?

This is also a very old deal. :/

  • Yep, I know they use Vodafone, but deal ends this month, worth mentioning before it goes.

I got excited cos I just got my Sim and will activate it this week after my VF contract expires….VF didnt care if I leave before my contract expires, and they were like we cant match that deal, sorry to see a customer who's been with us since 1995 to be leaving us….we can only do $45/mth unlimited….. MEH…..

    Good point though! :) thx.

    • +2

VF doesn't care if you leave while still on contract, they will just send you a bill for the rest of the contract.

  • Yes this may be cheap, but isn't this the standard price for their service?

Edit: just read above comment - 1 month expiry on this deal

The Lyca deal is only Telstra 2G so your 3GB of data is likely to be quite slow.

      • +1

What sort of speed test results would that yield?

        • +5

2G Edge download speeds are typically 50-200 kbps

not true, i use this plan(initially i was in redbull plan $10 for 2 months and then the $22 for 2 months) i use the internet radio and i use almost the full data(holding back so that i will not use excess), i use around 200 mb per 6-8 hrs of medium quality online radio…

EDIT: there are both positive and negative, choose the best suitable to you.

        • Lyca plan is month on month extension you have to activate manually and the plan might disappear any time they like.
        • if you are going out of Aus then you have to recharge with extra credits for activating the roaming services in RedBull(it is just dead service if you don't recharge). Lyca it is free…(if you take a call or send a text message both services charges you, but you can use it for getting missed calls and incoming messages). this is only if you are planing to travel :)

some points about the internet in both the connections since i have used them both…(usage is either in Sydney CBD or pyrmont)

        Internet Radio
        RB: less buffering.
Lyca: more buffering but plays the radio.

        MS Exchange Mails(with android mobile)
        RB: crap won't work properly…
        Lyca: works good…

        Online Games(eg: Defender II)
        RB: wont connect
Lyca: works good(and i was surprised it was not working in 3G but working in 2G think Voda plays a role)…

    • +1

Thought lyca used Telstra 2G network only.

      Not really unlimited:
" Super Saver plan is subject to a fair usage policy of 2000 minutes and 2000 texts to all networks in Australia."

    • telstra 2G is crap, it's tiny in coverage compared to 3G and IMHO is no better than vodafone/optus, you need next G to get good coverage

  • Any alternative APN's? I get under 200bps on speed test at my workplace. Maybe it has a dial up modem for data :-P

  • -5

well 2g is ok for me so all good. Specially at that price

    • are you still riding your horse nowdays?

  • I was just looking at the Lyca deal and found this limitation:

    • Super Saver plan is subject to a fair usage policy of 2000 minutes and 2000 texts to all networks in Australia.

Theres an equivalent for red bull but they dont give any details, just when they feel like it basically….but no pre-set limit. It does say on the page with the plans in the bottom/fine print - no P2P file sharing.

Here's the red bull Fair Use policy

Yes I know about the limit but again with Lyca I know were I stand and as you say with Red Bull its up to them. So with Lyca i will know when I am close to limit but with Red Bull I could be cut off any time and again depending on your use 2000 minutes = 33.33 hours of talk time per month and well 2000 SMS's is way enough for me

and no restrictions on peak or off peak, again may not suit all but for me at that cost and allows me to pick up the odd unlimited $2 unlimited month and $10 unlimited 3 month deals that come across here every now and then its great for m as I am not locked in and can return anytime.

I should not say cut of as i presume Red Bull will prob start to charge you what ever they feel like after the fair use undisclosed amount is reached, I am not sure. I tried Red Bull on there $10 3 month unlimited trial with data and found the data speeds very slow where I am but I am in a bad area with 3 towers that the signal keeps jumping so Telstra for me is a plus as it does not jump in my area.

I would prefer this deal as although it's ~$5P/M more you are able to move on if something is better. If you take the Red Bull 15 Month deal then it would be a massive waste to move on from it earlier. I just prefer the flexibility.

    • I have used Lebara and found the customer service to be poor and also again this depends on your own circumstances, I call several overseas numbers so the call costs for that are important to me and I have looked at Lyca who is cheaper than Lebara on the countries I call and then I also have a Gotalk pay as you go for calling other countries (gotalk customer service is fantastic, even though its in the Philippines, I can not comment on lyca yet) as for instance all landlines call to Brazil are free up to 2000 minutes per month as long as you have some credit on your Sim and they have a $10 recharge pay as you go with a 3 month expiry and that, depending which option you choose is free national and calls just pay flag fall of $0.09c. That option does not include data though so i will put my $5 a month into that one just because of my friends overseas

    • +1

Better than unlimited? Go for it mate.

    • lebara… doesn't even have a customer service department

  • anyone know if the internet and signal is good from Red Bull?????? give me some advise. cheers…

    • +2

they use the vodafone network. most people think its crap.
but for me its pretty much the same as optus, except slower data speeds.

RBM uses a Proxy with APN, that is not compatible with adblocking software, if you interested.

      • fine, i am thinking. i use virginmobile. it attracts me inc. 5G data and unlimited call.

      • is the signal good when u call other company? it is unlimited to any company? right? do u know how much i need pay if i have international calls.

    • so far i think redbull signal is better then optus prepaid.
I have using redbull, sure deal and dodo. seem redbull signal is better for me. dunno with other people. i always got full signal on my iphone and connected with 3g network, where with optus only in the cbd i got my full signal.

Shitty service. plus vodafone network.. even worse… Not worth it.. AMAY sim is much better

    • +1

I've used both and I must say Red Bull is best for me. No drop outs (so far) and using the speed test app it looks like I'm getting a faster data speed. I used to get drop outs with Amaysim and also Virgin, who I just finished a 2 year contract with.

      • +1

It all depends on where you live and where you generally travel to. I've consistently been getting three to four times the download speed through my Redbull sim relative to my Amaysim (Optus) service.

  • Compare to LiveConnected.com.au's (Optus-based) offers

If you can get by with 2 GB data / mon,
pay LiveConnected just $17-$18 / mon,
    for enough of everything. IMO…

and enjoy a meal out one more time per month,
on what you save over RedBullMobile.

    • +1

Not unlimited. Who wants to wait 2 days for delayed usage stats and be at risk for high excess fees.

    • Also better coverage as on Optus network not vodafone.
