Is this the cheapest its ever been

    • +1

Yes appears to be the cheapest posted on OzB.

  • +1

    @Jimothy Wongingtons

Time to get a different colourway.

    • +1

Saving my pennies for a1000mga-5d - rep is implied sale coming for it this week on casioau website

Ripper price though… do I need a black on waffle hmmm

    • +1

No logo model is cool too. Got one for a friend a while ago.

  • +5

Ayo there is NO F’N EXCUSE NOT TO BUY ONE.

This is a BANGER price and undoubtedly could not do better for 77.50

  • +1

    What did I just buy

  • +4

Incredible price for a well-made timepiece.

  • The SD1953 is 78.99

    • It’s no 1970

    • The trouble with these is that they don't fit a casual look. These are THICK, with a capital T, at 15mm but look thicker.

Likely to be a good cheap dive watch but it looks out-of-place when not near the water.

  • +2

    @WatchNerd

    SD1975 is a good price

    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005767565521.html

    • Are these better or just a preference on style

  • Can you guys recommend a kickass band or clasp?
My waffle one from this broke (loop) and aliexpress is giving me a deadlink for a discounted band for this.
I might as well get a kit for me to tinker.

    what I am doing wrong?

Also seeing this message when I add promo code - For security reasons your request can't currently be processed

Okay used USD as currency now but show 55 USD

    • +1

You need to add the Promo Code 11SALE8 , at checkout where it says Promo code. Total $79.63 plus $2.58 in coins.

Not as cheap at $77.50, but i didn't need to bother with exchange rates and international transaction fees.

I went Black Bezel. Now think Green look really good also.

      • Green is awesome

      • Hey Broody I added promo and it says for security reasons request can’t be processed

  • +1

Ok never heard of the brand, noob on this, it's a quality watch, for the price?

  • +4

I have this exact watch. Bought it like 6 months ago for around AUD$150, and you know what, I'm not even unhappy seeing it half the price of what I paid, because I've worn it every day for those 6 months and it's that good. The amount of compliments I get on it is crazy, unsure if it's the green or something, but I had worn my Tag Aqua-racer for the decade prior to getting this watch, and I think more people have commented on this watch in the past half a year than my Tag in the 10 years preceding.

If you're on the fence about getting this, just do it. It's a bloody ripper!

    • Which colour you went with?

      • +1

Green and I love it! I'm sure blue would nice too. My Tag is black so didn't want another one that colour.

  • Why do i want to buy this? Are these just a really good clone of a Seiko?

    • +5

Mate, it’s a good watch. You can't wear this in your bedroom by yourself. This is a moments watch. Those 2 am drives. Those beach days. Those summer nights in the city. Those vacation nights. That is what this watch is meant for. Little bit of tequila and a bad chick with you and I promise you will be vibing like crazy with this.

Plus, it’s $79 bro. Practically peanuts.

      • +1

That bad chick will cost more than $79 and just be a distant memory after 1 hour.

This watch will easily get you through a decade for your 79 hard earned.

  • Love my Steeldive SD1970, but one complaint (as mentioned in some reviews) is that the clasp is cheap.

You buy this nice milled 18mm clasp as a small upgrade:
    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/4000418482880.html

    • It comes with a milled clasp since 10th Nov. 2022

Edit - Ok it's still mentioned in one of the pics but not the specs, so I might be wrong.

    • Honestly if you're upgrading the clasp go straight for one of the micro-adjust ones you can also get on alix. Big comfort upgrade.

      • +2

Post a link please to your recommended clasp.

        Thanks.

  • +1

Am I the only one who finds this design horrible ? It’s cool but that outer steel shape is really bad.

    • +1

When WN first showed me pic of 1970 on wrist it I was like yeah …look I see the appeal - but idk it’s not for me.

One day I thought nah stuff it let’s give it a go. Could do worse for $110. Worst case can flip it on gumtree for what I paid.

I instantly fell in love with it hahaha

    • Ugly, bulky, meh
      This one is much nicer
      https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005767565521.html

      • Well can’t go wrong with a classic tuna

        • If they only had it in Tiffany Blue at discounted price.

    Thanks NW. Got one!

@Jimothy Wongingtons: @WatchNerd insert invicta joker watch [here]

            • @MS Paint: Lol this went down fast .. so we have joker and Godzilla watches as the watch meme of OzB.. I'm wondering what watch face will be next

              • @maverickjohn: Pls be yacht master ii

                • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Do you like the yacht master.. I was offered it at Rolex shop in Sydney but I wanted the GMT master 2… He told me no chance.. only after buying a couple of other watches will I be considered. Yacht master isn't popular compared to others hence why it was available… So I vowed never to buy a Rolex lol

  • +1

Amazing price for what you get. I bought a black tropical FKM strap for mine and wear it way more than I expected.

  • +3

This is a great watch at an amazing price. It's a timeless recognised design being a 'Captain Willard' homage. Build quality on these is remarkably good; no sharp edges on the case, bezel rotation and click is nice, I like the bezel insert, crystal and AR are more than acceptable, dial is attractive, movement is good, reliable and readily serviced. I have never bought the SS bracelet as I've heard about some issues with them, so normally wear with colour matched NATO strap.

Can't recommend these enough. Putting my money where my mouth is - just bought a 2nd one as a gift.

Thank you for making me poor once again WatchNerd.

  • This coupon code can't be used in combination with other discounts

    Thanks OP, got one.
Can anyone recommends watch boxes, thanks

  • +2

Ceramic bezel and sapphire glass all for under $100 is crazy.

    • +1

Exactly this. Good base for modding too if one’s inclined to go that way!

  • +1

already got the blue one, should i cop the black or the green

  • +1

This a great deal. Personally id get the classic black Willard with waffle strap. Which is what i did for around $115. Bargain at this price. Great watch, i need no other.

    • need no other.

      Not even green on ss?????

      • The SS bracelet that comes with these is bad - avoid. It doesn't even look like a match for the watch. End links don't match well, clasp has sharp edges and the overall look isn't great. Rubber or NATO is the way to go with these.

Black is the most versatile colour. The green dial can be a bit hit-and-miss from the sunburst effect perspective. Most have little to no noticeable effect.

These are great watches but you have to know which combinations work the best to maximise wearability.

      • No im too practical to own two watches. Im wired differently.

  • I got one and found it too big for my 7" wrist.

    • +2

I have just a little over 7 inch wrist and I found it to be I just right

      • I'm just under 7" & it fits perfect. Here it is on Jody's 7" wrist, looks great.

        • So I guess for 6'' it's a no no then…?

          • +1

@Hallaj: Mate people have 5.5 inch wrist and still rock an Apple Watch ultra with confidence. If ya like it just rock it

          • +1

@Hallaj: I've got an under 6.5 inch wrist and I think it wears okay. Yes, it's big, but not comically so. The short lug to lug helps with that.

            • @MonkDog: Fine with 6.5 but 6" and under, maybe not.

              • +2

@Hallaj: Okay, so I measured my wrist and it turns out it's a lot closer to 6 than 6.5 right at the moment. :/

From these angles, I still reckon it looks okay.

                • @MonkDog: It does look a little big on your wrist honestly.
But as long as you enjoy it that's what's important.
I can understand why people have reservations though

                  • +1

@maverickjohn: Yeah, fair enough. Like I said though, just hopefully not comically big… :|

Here's another smaller OzBargain favourite watch for size comparison. Which is what I would consider a small watch.

                    • +1

@MonkDog: Nahhh it's fine… Those diesel watches is another story ..
I'm contemplating still owning a Breitling super avenger which is a 48mm watch but my wrists are big.

                • @MonkDog: Well that's it. I'm doomed. @maverickjohn confirmed.

                  • @Hallaj: If you like the look of it you should still get it . Only you can determine if you like the size of it on your wrist. But thanks for @MonkDog for showing it on his wrist. It should help you make a decision

                • @MonkDog: I think looks ok still

        • It suits your wrist size.

    • +1

The cushion case or bracelet resize? For my 7" I had to knock out 5 link segments.

  • I love this watch and wear it to work as it's so comfortable. However I take it off for the weekends and by Monday morning the battery is dead and I have to rewind and reset the date and time which is quite annoying. Unsure if this is an automatic thing or I have a faulty watch but I thought it would last longer than that off the wrist.

    • Bro there is no battery, maybe watch this video so you understand what you're wearing.

If you keep the crown unscrewed when you're not wearing it you can give it about 10 to 15 winds per day which should keep it running.

      • I actually knew there was no battery, I have no idea why I said that haha. I just meant to say that it's dead after about 24-48 hours. I guess that is why people have those watch cases that spin them.
I think i would prefer a battery watch which I just change once every couple of years instead of automatic.

Almost looks like a genuine Bolex.

    • lol this isn't even based on a Rollie

  • Is the waffle strap made from silicone? Kinda wish they sold the blue face on a black waffle strap.

  • It is not letting me add the discount code. Gives this error: 'This coupon code can't be used in combination with other discounts'

Anyone had that and knows how to get the code to work?

    Thanks.

    • Just tried on my laptop & it's still working. I didn't use any other code.

US$12.00 automatically is taken off then code 11SALE8 will take off another US$8.00.

  • They dropped the price 30c so you cant apply both discounts

    • +1

Showing per OP $63.68 for me, 11SALE8 code still accepted.
      Keeping it in USD?

      • Seeing this

For security reasons your request can't currently be processed

  • +1

Anyone else buy this and it caught up in a customs issue?

    • +1

Yes, same thing on the tracking for my order.

      • Mine too.

  • +1

    Back on sale but not as cheap… US$63.68 - $12 coupons + $5.56 GST… total US$57.24 (~AU$88.00)

  • Is the manual available online? I couldn't find a link to download it on the product page.

    • Not aware of a Steeldive manual, perhaps someone else might have a link.
The movement is a Seiko NH35, so any watch with same could do for basics. Crown is screw-down, and fairly common.
