  • Can you access stats from a different city? Or is it only via Bluetooth?

    • anywhere ,it is by wifi

      • Great.

What app is used for monitoring?

        • INKBIRD APP

  • +1

Awesome, need to monitor a 2nd hand freezer with alerts.

    • Good idea. Does this one has alert ?

    • PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT USE IT IN FRIDGE / FREEZER

      • But you can use within a greenhouse (as long as it in a covered area).

      • +1

        Why

The listing is literally called INKBIRD Wifi Digital Thermometer Fridge Hygrometer Room Indoor Humidity Meter

And measures -20 to 60 degrees?

        • Loll. Bit weird, aye? I copy/pasted that off the "about this item" page.

The batteries probably won't like sub-zero temperatures as it will freeze the electrolyte.

  • I got one of these to monitor my toddlers bedroom temp and even though its AA batteries, it drains pretty quick for a small sensor!

    • Mine has been in use for 6 months now, still on the original batteries. The logging interval is set at 1 HR. What is your logging interval set at? You could try to increase the interval a bit to extend battery life.

    • That's why I went for one of these. Can be battery or USB powered (if you lose the latter, the battery kicks in). That way I can set the interval in my kids' room to say, three minutes. Exxy at $89 but I got one of a flash sale for $67. Connects to Google Home (shows the temp on the app) and officially IFTTT (though haven't yet tried latter).

Obviously the luxury of USB power and flexibility with frequency means it's much more expensive than battery models, so if you're not the anxious type then go with Inkbird etc, they seem to have a decent reputation for their cooking thermometers so assume this one is also decent.

    • Wi-Fi based monitors tend to use more power so they drain more quickly. Look for a Bluetooth monitor if you want longer battery life, and also reduce the reporting/update rate if that’s an option within the app.

I use the Govee H5075 series (uses 2x AAA) and they usually last 3-4 months before having to replace batteries. Not sure what the exact reporting interval is, but I think it’s around 5 minutes.

And yes, the Govee devices are well supported in Home Assistant, they’ve been working perfectly for me for over a year. The H5075 goes on sale every few months and can be had for about $18-19.

      • What's the app like? Do you need to create an account?

        • +1

The app is good, lots of options including a lengthy history of data (temperature and humidity). Yes, you need to create a Govee account to use it.

I rarely use the app — like with every smart device these days I mostly use Home Assistant to monitor and log the data.

          • @deadpoet: can it be added to home assistant without creating a govee account?

            • @dantes: I'm not 100% sure but if I remember correctly you probably don't need the Govee app in order to connect it to Home Assistant, you should be able to just let the Govee Bluetooth integration auto-discover the H5075 monitor since it's a bluetooth device.
              https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/govee_ble/

Don't quote me on that though, I haven't tested it to confirm this, since all my H5075 devices were initially setup via the Govee app before I connected them to Home Assistant.

  • thanks OP - wanting to test the performance of a new 12 volt fridge under different conditions.

  • +4

Can anyone confirm it works with Home Assistant? I can see the IBS-TH2 is supported but not TH3.
