Your buying a highly accurate workout/fitness tracker that you wear like a watch.

Having the ability to store and play music when working your without needing you phone is pretty handy.

          • -5

@souljah: Buy a bloody Apple watch them, if has everything you need.
Fitness tracker/watch or whatever you wanna call it, I can just imagine how long can you use your "fitness tracker" before having to charge it????

Sorry, I have a phone in perfect condition with a bone conduction earphone in perfect condition also, not having to charge my "fitness tracker" every day or two because I am moron using my "fitness tracker" for everything that drains its battery, that matter to me.
I bet you are gonna complain you cannot make video call on your "fitness tracker" also haha

            Go figure.

I've got the Epix gen 2 and getting just under 3 weeks battery.

  • +6

If you're looking for a deal on the Sapphire edition that is cheaper than the $848 at Amazon, I just got it for $779 through Johhny Appleseed ebay store, using the PLUSNOV voucher - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/125178648484?chn=ps&_ul=AU&norov…

    Only 2 left I think

    • These ones are gone

    • +3

Great find. I bought the last one :o

    • +2

More in stock. I purchased one as an upgrade from my Fenix 6s Pro.

      4 left.

  • +4

My Fenix 6 Pro is still getting updates, great long term support.

    • +2

Yeh there's no reasonable need to upgrade these things until they die. Even if it didn't get updates, it'd still be great as is. It's not like I'll ever come close to using all its capabilities anyways…

  • My 5 years old 645's battery started playing up recently. I only do road running. Would this watch at this price be a good upgrade, or should I go for a 265/955 deal? Thank you.

    • +4

This would be an overkill imo for just road running.

I'm getting this for golf cycling and running and even then, I had to really think about it.

a 245 is cheaper and would do the job for you.

    • +1

Get the 955 solar from rebel (550 with 10% gift cards), recently upgraded from a 245m and it's great. Similar feel, lightweight, albeit a bit bigger but manageable. If you only are a runner this is perfect for you

    • +1

Get the 955 if you need maps otherwise the 255 is good enough.

  • Can anyone confirm the Epix2 sold here in Aussie can display Asian language like Chinese/Japanese/Korean? My Fenix 6 pro can't but I think I saw someone said Fenix7 can, so I assume Epix2 should? Thanks.

    • +1

      Yes it can.

  • +1

Surely it won't go lower than this for black Friday??

  • +1

How well does the mapping work on these watches? Use case: out dirt bike riding and find a new trail. If I head up the trail and then get lost can I use the tracking on my watch to get back to where I started? Can I pull the map up on my phone and see this on the larger screen?

Also, does it track my route for the day? Like could I get back home and see the trip ive done on my computer or phone?

Lasltly, could I preplan a trip at home then head out and get directions along the way? Do these directions come up on my watch and also my phone (via an app?)

Last last, Im guessing the forerunner versions are more running orintated? Is this true or jsut branding/naming and nothing really to do with the features. Or does garmin design watches for particular sports? I'm not a runner but do hike and ride bikes

    • +2

      Yes - can backtrack.
Yes - can pull map up on phone (Garmin Explore App), but can also zoom out on watch
Yes - can track route for the day, and it auto uploads to Garmin site
Yes - can preplan trip, upload to phone, and get directions on watch and phone. Use Garmin Explore website or the app. Can download GPX routes from other sites
Forerunner is lighter bodied, Fenix/Epix is heavier duty build. Features are equivalent.

If anyone is after the sapphire screen, the garmin web store has it for $849
    https://www.garmin.com/en-AU/p/760778/pn/010-02582-22

  • does this have payment feature or not? not listed on that jb page

    • Yes, but not all banks/cards supported by Garmin Pay. Check their website to be sure.

  • +1

    Yes, it has Garmin pay.

    • -2

      Not supported in Australia though?

      • +1

I use it whenever I don’t take my mobile. I have fenix 6, the previous model.

It supports a large number of banks.

      • +2

I use it all the time. Defo works in Aus

      • +1

I think it depends on the bank.

  • No sapphire just plain coca cola glass

    • +1

      White Saphire $848.
But it's white though. The side of the case is white.. Whhhyy? :/

      • +2

Yep I would have grabbed the saphire if it was any colour other than white. I got the regular one this morning. She scratches easy but looks sexy.

        • Yeah, regular one looks nice.

I wonder how people scratch their watches though. Falling onto rocks and using the watch to save them, or something like that?

I have 2 smart watches, both a couple of years old, and definitely not sapphire, not a single scratch on either.

One of them doesn't even have any bezel, I've banged it a few times against walls and furnitures, still looking pristine.

This is either some marketing bs, or I am just not radical enough :-p

          • +1

@l o l: Well I'm a refrigeration mechanic so I'm reaching into all sorts of metal things and against brick walls. I constantly have cuts all over my hands and arms. It's inevitable for us. Any other tradie would have similar issues.

            • @MickyJ87: Humm, I see. Not necessarily radical.. lol

Wouldn't a huge watch like this get in the way of your work though?

              • @l o l: Yea I'll have to occasionally take it off but you get used to it.

  • +1

1549 RRP and still no sapphire? This is Apple's Apple!

  • +1

Black titanium looks incredible. Slate Steel not so much… bummer.

    • Black is on sale now too!

  • Anyone have one of these (or equivalent model) and can comment on sleep tracking? I'm reading very mixed reviews but the reviews seem to be a few years old. I'm hoping garmin have improved in this area.

    • For me it seems to track start/finish quite accurately, some exceptions every so often.
As for how accurate each stage (Awake / Light / REM / Deep), Anecdotally I think it is moderately accurate (when I have woken or gotten up in the middle of the night), but what can I compare it to?
It seems to be based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Heart Rate, as well as movement.
It's quite interesting to see what effect being sick has, or being on medication.
The sleep metrics are then used as part of other scores such as Body Battery and Training Readiness.
Once your watch syncs then your history and patterns are stored on the cloud in Garmin Connect so you can see the graphs over time etc.

    • +2

As someone with chronic sleep issues my experience with subsequent high end Garmin watches has been bad, as in, it's unreliable more often than it is, even the total sleep time.

To be fair, it's a common limitation of wrist-bases trackers, with a notable exception of the latest Apple Watches, who sole this issue with some clever big data analysis.

If you're interested in details, check out the tests and reviews by the Quantified Scientist YouTube channel.

    • +1

Their sleep tracking is miles behind Fitbit, next to useless really.

  • +1

i saw the carbon gray titanium and it looks way better than slate steel (subjective). Will risk and wait for black friday sale :D.

  • Epix 3 imminent?

    • +1

Doubt it. They recently released the epix pro and Fenix pro.

  • +3

FYI I asked the chat and this deal ends 27/11

  • Headed in store to see what this looks like in person and I'm glad I did so, can't see myself wearing the white case/titanium one when the black titanium one looks so much neater. The lack of an ECG sensor in one of their premium watches is also a baffling decision by Garmin, doesn't make it any more likely that I'll pick up one if their pro watches for $1.8k just means I'm less likely to buy one of these.

  • I was tossing between samsung 5 pro and Venu 3 both can take calls.

If I choose venu 3, what will I be missing over epix 2?

  • damn, right after i bought the 955 solar from rebel 5 days ago because that was 45% off

  • +3

Available for $641 after applying SAVNOV23 coupon code on Ebay

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/355118965130?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • +1

Now that price is just ridiculous.

      • +1

Kogan though, I'd rather pay the extra $50 and pick it up from JB on the off chance you need to make a warranty claim.

    • Would JB pricematch?

  • +2

picked one up from loca JB Hifi to replace a fenix 3 HR that i've had and used daily (and loved) for something like 6 or 7 years
So far seems great, and is significantly smaller (height wise) and lighter than fenix 3 HR without sacrificing buttons or screen.
I was sceptical of the 'slate grey' as opposed to the black models based on pictures online, but after seeing it in store i liked it and went for it.
thanks for posting the deal :)

  • For anyone interested, the White Saphire is $849 @ David Jones with 10% Cashback til 10pm.
Also $849 @ Myer with 9% Shopback - I was hoping it would be listed under watches for the full 17% but it seems not.
I finally bought the bullet as my plan is to replace the White band with a Titanium coloured one to match the case. The white on the side will just be some contrast. After Cashback of $77.18 it brings it down to $771.82 which is as cheap as a Venu 3. I have the originl Venu and it has been brilliant with the OLED screen so looking forward to this one.

    • Westpac 10% bonus cash back as well for Myer, capped at $25

  • +5

I asked JB on chat to give a deal for the black titanium version and they matched it with the white one at $848.

Good price given black sapphire version is shown at full RRP at JB.

    • Wait wtf, if this works I'll kiss you (not a threat)

      • Haha, hope it works for you mate 😁

    • Did you have to haggle? I tried and $1100 was what they offered

      • Nah, I didn't haggle. I just said that given Slate Steel and White Titanium versions are on sale. Could you offer me a JB deal on the black version.

He said that he can do $848 (matching the white version), no haggling at all.

    • +1

Let me know if anyone is still looking for black version for $848.

I messaged JB and they were happy to price it the same as white one again.

      • I'd but interested in a black one but had no luck with JB chat.

          Dm'd

          • @JMokha: can you please DM me as well? interested in the titanium one

            • +1

@Numbfeeling: Hey mate, I had an extra quote from JB which I shared earlier.

Sorry, I don't have it anymore

  • good deal. Picked one up.

  • Any Huawei GT2-4 watch wearers who can comment on this vs the GT?

  • Anyone knows what is the diameter of the selling product….?

    • 47mm

  • Can anyone please comment on the notifications side of things with this watch? I have a Fitbit Charge 4 that vibrates when I receive a txt or have a meeting coming up via Outlook integration. Also shows who is calling me and I can send the call to voicemail. Looks like this does the same?

I've been wanting more of a traditional looking smartwatch with the above features but with a relatively long battery life like my Fitbit has, so that has ruled out the Apple or Samsung watches. I haven't really looked at much else for awhile, but the price and look of this watch has renewed my interest again.

    • I can only comment when paired with Android. Yes this can vibrate when you receive different Android notifications. You can set which apps will get through to the watch in 2 main ways - firstly through the menu on the watch (and via the Garmin Connect App), and secondly when an actual notification comes through you can then choose to "block app" going forward as well.

It also shows who is calling, you can ignore/dismiss/mute and can do some quick responses.

      • Thanks, ended up grabbing one today and quickly turned off the million notifications I started receiving.

Sapphire - Black Titanium version is $848 as a part of Jb Hifi Price Blitz sale

  • How does this compare to the Apple Watch Ultra 2?

I'm in the Apple ecosystem with an iPhone, iPad, Mac. TBH, the Apple Watch i currently have isn't much more than a watch to me. Hate using it to view messages.

How will a Garmin improve my quality of life?

I just got the Epix 2 Pro Gen 2 for $799 at Jbhifi..
The sales person was so confused with the ticketing and didn't know which one was on sale .
I got her to match this ad 👍
Bought myself a Xmas present , pity can't use it for a month lol

    • Wow. You got super lucky. Best price I've seen on the pro is like 1375. How did you end up at 799 when this ad is for 696 though?

      • Yeah I did get very lucky, I'm hope I don't get the sales girl in trouble.. there ticketing was very confusing and I waited for her to check with her manager twice but in the end I got.it 👍

    • Wow, that's great, is it the Epix 2 Pro not the normal Epix 2?

  • +2

I managed to nail Epix Gen 2 Sapphire for 680$ You heard that right. Usually a lurker I logged in to post this as it is also my first smartwatch and fitness tracker. I price matched with JB HiFi based on this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/813294. They did both in shop and online via Live chat, I ignored the JB HiFi online offer as It was my backup. I stacked the discount with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/811975. Acquiring these gift cards were the most difficult part. I had to get to 3 different Coles to gather 800$ cards from 06:00AM. There were families swiping off the whole bunch just like that even though they were behind set aside people hiding these cards. I finished my shopping at about 09:00AM. I don't think I will ever do this again :D, it's tiring and am not a morning person.

Edit: Wanted to add that JB Hi Fi is running out of stock for these watches, better hurry. It's not a coincidence that this happens on the day Coles gift cards discount deal is opened. Keep in mind some gift cards don't activate immediately takes unto 24 hours. 2 of mine failed, I considered myself lucky. Person next to me was unable to use majority of their gift cards.

    • Looking at doing the same. I think the sapphire edition must be the best deal going!

  • My order was cancelled due to lack of stock.

    Any alternative deals out there.

    • I guess that's online and thus nationwide? Or do you pick a store these day? (havent bought for a while)
