People bought Surface Pro and found out there were battery issues. I personally never buy any refurb item that has a battery eg. phone/tablet etc.

This PC is runs on mains, so should be good.

        • +1

Yeah I'm super cautious about anything used/refurb that has a non-replaceable battery (at least not easily), but given these are on mains as you said these should be fine. (I say this having one from the same seller a year ago, running strong, no issues! With my proxmox/docker vms etc)

        • +3

Oh no the battery wasn’t perfect on a $180 surface pro????

          • +2

@DingoBlue: It's more about getting what you paid for, getting an "as described" item… They shouldn't advertise them as over 80% battery life if the battery is stuffed…

(I didn't buy one of the cheap Surfaces, I learnt my lesson on a Latitude from them, lol)

          • +2

@DingoBlue: Some of them had very bad batteries, and they are very hard to replace without breaking the screen on that model.

The issue was that ACT claimed to have tested the batteries, but did not.
Those of us who knew the history were willing to take a gamble, and return them if unhappy.

  • any 10th gen i5's around?

    • Not really in any sort of volume at the moment.

  • +1

Damn, not bad. I paid $250 for this from these guys a few weeks with a refurb ebay code, got a 500GB sata m.2 though, which I replaced anyway.

I also didn't get the built-in wifi, even though I specifically requested it.

Any follow up mention of it was ignored! I got some crappy USB wifi dongle :(

My unit did come with the optional HDMI adapter though, which was a nice bonus

  • +2

No complaints from my end on these guys, bought thousands of dollars of equipment from them to stock the office PCs.

Speedy communication, great to deal with walk-in or post.

  • Looking to upgrade my office PC which is i7 - 3700 with GTX1060. Are these motherboards a standard form factor? I have a few cases laying around so would ideally transfer the internals into one of those and whack the 1060 in.

    Doable?

    • Not standard form factor. Super small form factor and special power supply.

For the office your i7 would be fine. I have a i5 4th gen.

  • @Calmago is the Win11 Pro license retail? Just wondering if I can transfer the license if computer ever dies.

    • +3

No, they are not retail. They are original OEM which is stored in the motherboard firmware. Technically you can extract the key for future activation, what ever you decide to do after that is up to you ;-)

  • @Calmago - What's the timeframe to ship after placing ebay order? Travelling interstate so just want to work out what address to send it to…

    • +1

Pretty much the same/the next business day. If placed before lunch today it should leave today as well.

      • Thankyou

          • @chutibuti: I've purchased from this seller multiple times before and been very happy with product and service.

  • Dell Precision Tower 3420 SFF Intel i7 7700 3.60GHz 32GB RAM 512GB SSD Win 10 , can i get in win 11 sorry checking

  • What’s the big difference in these and mini pcs available on amazon? Processor (up to 3.40GHz) W11 Mini Computer, 16GB RAM 500GB SSD Business Mini Desktop PC, Dual HDMI/WiFi 5/BT 4.2/RJ45/WOL/Auto Power On For 250 on amazon

    • +1

These have CPU model in description, Amazon one doesn't

      • i
Beelink MINI-S12 Mini PC, 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake-N95 Processor (up to 3.40GHz) W11 Mini Computer, 16GB RAM 500GB SSD Business Mini Desktop PC, Dual HDMI/WiFi 5/BT 4.2/RJ45/WOL/Auto Power On

        • I would suggest you wait for a deal on the S12 Pro which uses the slightly better Intel N100 CPU:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/801827

Better to spend a bit extra and get more SSD space and far better Wifi 6/Bluetooth 5.2 than buying a beat up 2nd hand PC, I have no idea why so many people upvote these 2nd hand machines deals. The N100 has comparable single core performance but is a much newer model (12th gen Alder Lake entry level CPU), 2023 vs 2018. The i5 8500T does beat the N100 in multi-core performance, but also consumes more power.

    • The case

    • Can it be connected to multiple monitors like beelink ?

      • Yes

  • So is the warranty 12 months.

    • +1

Yes, click the 'Refurbished' link up the top right:
      https://pages.ebay.com.au/refurbished-program/#refurbished
1-Year Warranty - That's right. 365 days of satisfaction or your money back

It also lists it up the top right:
One-year warranty included - Provided by the seller, consumer guarantees apply

      • The one I posted is brand new , not refurbished. Brand new should have one year warranty as well.

        • I'm not sure which one you posted… got a link?

  • I can't get either of the codes to work?

  • Damn, bought one for the mother at $236 from same seller. Oh well.

  • -1

Do you have any barbone XP boxes?

  • So if warranty is needed can I take it to 39 Miller St Murarrie QLD.

    • +2

Thats our main office and distribution warehouse, so you can't rock up unannounced. For any warranty issues just contact the team through eBay and they will process an RMA for you.

  • +4

The post description is misleading, they are using the same wording from previous deals:

    "AC Wifi + Bluetooth (built-in)"

This is false for a lot of customers, who end up with a bare bones unit (ie. no m.2 wifi/module) and receive a cheap and useless USB wifi dongle instead, with no BT at all.

Look out for these other issues (my unit had ALL of these issues):

    Missing blue HDD caddy
Missing wifi m.2 adapter + antenna
Slower/older DDR4 sticks at 2133MHZ (instead of the expected 2666)
    Missing additional (3rd) DP adapter
Beat up, dented and heavily scratched power brick

Also, some units come with a SATA SSD, while others have an NVME SSD.

    • +1

@Calmago is there any way to confirm I will get a device with the listed specs (built-in WiFI and bluetooth and HDD caddy particularly) or is this something we would have to to sort out post delivery? if the devices I receive are different to the specs will you honour replacements or is this "buyer beware" based on price?

I would like to buy 2, but only with the stated specs and I don't want to source parts separately.

      • +2

        Howdy

They definitely have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters. With the spare HDD caddy, it should be there, just spoke with the production team leader and he did say that he hasn't seen any without it. However, we receive tens of thousands of these devices a year, it's not something that we can report on and it's not something that we advertise it to have. I have personally noted that with other brands and even the newer Dell units if they are spec'd with an NVME from the factory they are now no longer including the spare 2.5" bracket.

With that said, absolutely we can do replacements.

    • +1

      Yeah it's potluck.

I missed out on the wifi/bluetooth unit (got a cheap usb dongle)
My unit was in excellent condition though, no dents and was super clean inside.
      I got a single 16GB DDR4 2666 stick, which meant I could get a second for 32GB.
500GB SATA NVMe, but it was in good condition, lots of life left on it according to Crystal Disk Info
Optional HDMI port was included, as was the HDD caddy.

I guess I didn't do too badly overall. I did pay around $60 more than this deal though a few weeks ago

  • +1

How does compare to KAMRUI Mini PC, 12th Intel Alder Lake N95 up to 3.4 GHz? They are not refurbished. Brand new and preety similar price to the one mentioned above.

    • Dell is probably better quality.

      https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cpu-intel_processor_n9…

8500T is 6 core vs 4. GPU is probably better in the Kamrui.

The Dell will also have an Intel NIC, I assume the Kamrui is Realtek

I'm not sure if the Kamrui m.2 slot supports NVMe and it's probably only single channel RAM

It all depends what you want to use it for

  • Anything better at this $200 price point to set up a dedicated home media server?

    • +3

I think these are probably the best if you occasionally need some transcoding, otherwise any old raspberry pi can serve up media.

I run mine as a proxmox server with separate LXC's (Linux containers) for jellyfin, nginx and pihole.

Running 24/7 for maybe a year, never skipped a beat.

      • Thanks for the confirmation. Running linux containers is probably beyond me, but looking forward to configuring something Plex-like to make it easier for browsing & streaming the family media collection across the house.

  • +1

@Calmago Are these units vPro/AMT enabled?

    • +1

      Yes

  • What are the physical dimensions?

    • +1

      Height (inches / centimeters) 7.2/18.2
      Width (inches / centimeters) 1.4/3.6
      Depth (inches / centimeters) 7/17.8

      According to Google

  • does it come with tax invoice? GST inclusive?

    • Yes, if missing though just shoot through a message through eBay and the team will provide it.

      • what would be the most efficient way to connect dual monitors which only have hdmi/vga

        • +1

I purchased the Cable Matters DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter for $11.99 in the past (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B005H3I38Q/ref=ppx_yo_d… ) and had no issues. Two of these would give you two HDMI outputs (one adapter for each port) , and you can get also adapters for VGA connectors for around the same price.

I prefer these to the single stick type in that they don't stick out the back as much so less issues with cables potentially snagging on them at the back as push your pc back if you have it under a table for example.

        • +1

Just to clarify that adapter I mentioned is suitable for 1080P and I assumed you are using 1080P monitor. If you are using a higher resolution you may need an active DP converter which is slightly more expensive (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B00S0C7QO8/ref=ppx_yo_d…)

  • +1

any deal for a laptop? Need a portable machine to download stuff using public network

    • +2

Are you torrenting from Telstra stores/payphones? :)

  • +2

I purchased four of these in two separate lots back in mid-January with a 16Gb upgrade (as they were originally 8Gb on the listing) for about $60 more per unit. 2 units came with 1x16Gb and 2 units came with 2x8Gb, and I've had no issues at all. All had WiFi/BT, an extra DP port in the expansion slot, all had empty caddies for expansion. Have been used as basic work machines (I'm using one now) and I've got one at home for Plex. I'll pick up another couple of units and use on for my parents to replace their old tower so they can run Windows 11 (and I'll need to teach them that…).

    Showing as $249 OP

    • Yes then apply the code

  • Added 10 to cart and applied RTCH20, then gives $300 discount (non eBay plus), $249—> $219 each, Am I missing something?

    • +1

Pretty sure the discount is capped

  • Ok found it RTCH20 = 20% of your purchase, up to AU $300 off. Any way around this to get 10 units?

  • +2

2x6units as 2 separate transactions with RTCH20 applied to both orders got me full 20% discount

    • Just out of interest, what are you doing with them?

        • +1

Why not both? Give someone a Kubernetes cluster for Xmas!

          • +1

            @chromium: Xmasnetes !

Or even better, keep these for yourself and give out your previous refurb i5-3570 Optiplex boxen as Christmas presents…

Would this make a decent NAS/media downloads/media server box? Which software would you run to get this kind of functionality (and am I correct in assuming they would run on the installed version of windows?)

  • +3

So my baby arrived this morning - super fast delivery from Qld to Vic - Thank you. One of the rubber feet is missing but otherwise system looks in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear.

Upon startup I get a warning saying the power supply is only 90 watts instead of the recommended 130 watts and the system will adjust ( even a 90 watts seems WAAAAY overpowered for what it needs - told bios to not display warning message again)

Windows booted fine.. Installed hwinfo and 7-zip.. Noticed cpu was running at about 6 watts and 35C - also CPU was the 8500 and not the 8500T…. 7-zip had a score of 6'ish (half the speed of an N95).

Another reboot, check BIOS, power down, power up, now 7-zip has a score of 35 and CPU seems to use around 37 watts so I think its all sorted now.

Looking forward to playing with it once I'm home, see if it handles an NVME drive to upgrade the storage, will make a very nice mini pc.

    • +1

The 8500 is the desktop version of the processor isn't it? It should be a bit faster than the T, but more power hungry. Probably why you were getting the PSU warning. I thought it might need external cooling as well

      • Yes its the 65W vs 35W part and on reviews shows an average ~20% performance boost so less power efficient as wattage goes up (which applies to modern processors so to be expected).

When I tried last night the system reverted back to low power mode making it run a snail, but works with an NVME so I'll be able to boost the storage and now I'm pondering if to upgrade to 32gb.

The OP saw my post yesterday, reached out, sent a replacement which arrived today.

I am very impressed at the speed of their response and the customer service experience.

  • bought many things from them in the past and they have been good with warranty

  • +1

    Just got my OptiPlex 7060 Micro Intel i5 8500 3.0GHz 16GB RAM 256GB SSD
Am happy with the fact that the included the SATA Bracket and gave me a USB Wifi adaptor.

However, only came with one 1x8GB stick of RAM instead of 16GB.

Also can confirm my M.2 SSD was SATA not NVMe. Not the end of the world, I was planning on buying a large M.2. NVMe for linux and saving the Windows 11 Key.

Have contacted ACT via EBay and will update with how they sort out the RAM.

    • +1

Did you unit come with internal wifi/bluetooth as well? I only got the USB wifi dongle with mine and no internal wifi (not bought in this deal)

I also got a SATA m.2 and stuck it in an enclosure I had lying around, so now I have a fast 500GB external :) I put a PCIe Gen 3 Hynix 1TB in the Optiplex and added a second 16GB RAM stick.

How can you save the Windows 11 key? I didn't think they'd be transferable and would be tied to the rest of the hardware in the box

      • I just had a look and there is an internal wifi/bluetooth adaptor but will need to fire it up to check.

For now I just want to sort out the RAM as I'm super frustrated. Getting 2x8GB sticks is already a bit Eh but getting 1 is just outright disapointing.
How is your Optiplex running with the PCIe M2?

There was a comment earlier about extracting the acitvation key but I was honestly thinking of just giving it to a family member as their boot drive. Sure it may not be the fastest but faster then what they have now and free Win 11 for them haha.

        • It's running well, but I'm not really pushing it. I'm running proxmox and a few things like Pi Hole, ubuntu server with some docker containers and Linux Mint.

I really got it to learn and play around with. I probably don't need 32GB of RAM and a 1TB NVMe tbh :D

I know you can extract the key, but didn't think you'd be able to activate it on another system. I dunno for sure though

Did you get anything in the optional spot on the back? I got an HDMI port on mine, which is handy

          • @chromium: The win11 is tied to the dell optiplex bios digitally. You can save the dell serial with dmidecode. After that, you have to mod the target asus/gigabyte/hp/etc mobo bios to include to dell smbios. Now windows will think that the modded HP is a Dell and it will accept it. Not sure if GRUB allows for smbios injection perhaps one can try.

Then again nothing stops you from using a legally free non activated Windows. You can't do some personalisation and maybe some nagging messages, pretty okay for a free OS I guess.

  • +3

Mine has arrived too, impressive shipping times to Melbourne. Thank you!

    I can confirm the following:
    8500T CPU
    90W power supply
    1 x 16GB RAM stick at 2666MHz
    1 x 256GB Samsung SATA SSD
    Internal WiFi and Bluetooth
    3 x DisplayPort outs

    Runs great!

    • When I ordered mine a few weeks ago they sent express post them Australia Post lost it and it ended up taking over a week!

    • +1

You lucky lucky bastard. The Romans must think the sun shines out your ass!

    • Got mine as well (QLD). Same specs as yours. Machine in excellent condition.

    • Same as mine which I ordered from this deal yesterday

Think I will get another one to throw in the suitcase :D

      • (oh, mine was a Toshiba M.2 SATA SSD)

  • is offer not valid anymore? tried multiple times but code doesn't work

    • Still working for me.

      • idk what i'm doing wrong but keep getting told this code can't be applied to this order :/

  • can anyone recommend a decent monitor to go with this?

    With all the new features.
