De'Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus $370 Delivered @ Appliances Online

80

$340 if you use the referral.

I believe this was released a few months ago as a competitor for the Breville Bambino plus. Just like the Bambino Plus this one has auto milk frothing and quick heat up. Definitely a good option if you want to avoid the (unjustified) price tag on the Bambino Plus.

I love the bambino plus but agree, the price increase on it since I purchased it a couple years back is crazy

Yeah the price increase is far from being justified by "inflation".

    • Btw, Bambino (not plus) is $399 at TGG atm

  • Anyone tried this? Price looks pretty reasonable.

I have the original dedica I got for $179 over 3 years ago. Its a pretty decent machine for a beginner at the price point. The pressurised basket is prone to getting clogged if the grind is too fine or if you didn't properly clean the basket between shots or tamped too hard. The workflow is fine for one cup, and sort of slow for two. I paired it with a breville grinder and its saved me $4.50 twice a day.

    • It's pretty easy to get a non pressurised portafilter handle and basket for less than $50. This needs to be factored into the cost comparison with the bambino if comparing it. I still use my original dedica that I got for a similar price from Aldi. I'm very happy with it but I would think a base bambino would be an upgrade even to this newer version. So $370+$50 for this deal takes it above the cost one commenter said for the bambino no plus, which makes this one a hard sale. I don't see the value in the upgrades so I'd be suggesting getting the base model of this for a fair bit less or the base bambino.

If you have no interest in better coffee and hence non pressurised baskets and milk is a bigger priority then perhaps these upgraded versions offer more value for you.

A big plus that I think is overlooked/undervalued is that the bambino has 54mm baskets while the dedica has 51mm baskets. I feel bigger is better. 51mm means that coffee grounds heap up more I feel and makes the workflow more messy.

  • Filter coffee ftw at this price point..

  • I remember good olden days, when I got one for $120.
Great machine for under $200 imo.

You're thinking of Dedica Maestro. This is very different and was released recently.

  • This has a weird approach to milk steaming - I prefer the arte single wand.
The dual wand/probe likely more difficult to keep clean.

  • If the pump is the same as the regular dedica, I wouldn't bother. We have to use a courser grind than espresso to prevent bringing the pump to its knees and clogging the portafilter. Its also slow and very top-heavy, easily sliding about on the countertop; the overall workflow isn't an enjoyable one. Subjectively, I'm able to pull much nicer coffee from my $30 moka pot than many attempts with this machine.

  • I almost bought Dedica Maestro. (not plus)
But found in facebook markets 2 handed Gaggia Classic Pro 2019 for $400
Best decision I made so far.
I also have delonghi dedica EC685.
