Seems to be a lot cheaper than $2k in a 2 pack… for those who only need one?
Considering it, what else is in this range? I have about 60 devices
Didn't realise it is from GERMANY, I went to AU Amazon…

Clearly you have never hear of IOT devices…
but seeing as you don't seem to think it's possible… :
Wifi power sockets x10
Wifi switch lights x10
Laptops / tablets x 8 (includes work ones)
Servers /NAS / Game PC's x8
Networked TV's x3
Streaming devices (projector etc) x2
Audio devices (amps) x2
Amazon alexas (x6)
Google devices/speakers x4
Ring video security cameras x6
Tesla x1
Quest2 VR x1
Mobile phones x4
There's 60+, and that's rough off the top of my head…
is there a hard limit on most routers that usually isn't mentioned?
That's 60 devices but are they all using up bandwidth at the same time? A lot of IoT devices are still running on 2.4GHz (some are moving to 5GHz) and they are just sitting there not using much bandwidth. I'm not sure if Wi-Fi 6E will come into play.
We are a couple but have about 25 devices that include smart home
If you're paying this much might as well get Wi-Fi 7 right?
Yup and future proof
future proof but ASUS don't have these in Wifi 7… so pointless discussion
There is no reason why it has to be Asus. The comment is fair, if they are spending $600, is there another brand that offers Wifi 7
@abs898: Know of any? considering clients don't exist and the bandwidth of wifi 7 is uneccessary what has that got to do whith whether $650 is a good deal for something selling everywhere else at over $1000?

@DisasterArea: You've answered your own question, don't think it needs a further response from me.
I am not denying what you've posted is an excellent router, I personally have a similar one but a lesser known brand.
But if someone is investing a lot of money and not in a rush then why not get the next one when it's out. There will always be a better model and technology every week, it's a matter of personal situation
@abs898: The next one will come with a early adopters fee.
@abs898: There are some "lesser brands" if you don't mind needing a login to TPLINK to make your router even work…
This seems to be the upcoming : https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/whole-home-mesh-…
These are available now in a 2 pack https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-BE11000-Whole-Home-System/…
Is that even ratified for use in Aus yet? - but no, wifi 7 devices don't exist.. even now my fastest are probably wifi 6 (AX) -
The non-E- versions of this router are this price, the E version is $2100 for 2, hence "cheap"
It's just (mod: inflammatory) pulling things out of their butthole, because every tech deal here is apparently shit because it needs to be the next version for a random amount cheaper just because they want it that way.
802.11BE isn't certified yet, the Netgear RS700S which will support it currently retails for $1500, the TP-Link Deco BE85 3 pack is $3000. You're not going to get a recognised brand of Wifi 7 gear for $650
Idk, if you're buying one of these 2020 tech in 2023, might as well spend a bit extra and get the latest tech. Makes sense to me.
@MA87033: Depends entirely on what you're doing, for most people the 2020 tech is just fine. I'm still running Wifi 5 kit at home and have zero speed issues with all my devices (PCs, Consoles, NAS, media players, lights, mobile devices, homelab, etc). When you factor in the fact that moving to that latest tech is at least triple the price, the investment isn't worth it for most people, especially on a site where people jump through hoops to save a few cents.
….. and more to my point, claiming that the latest tech that isn't officially out yet should be the same price as 3 year old tech that's on special is idiocy.
@MA87033: Thats where you're wrong because the latest will be 2 to 3 times more expensive and nothing supports it yet.
A 1 pack mesh router… also known as a router…
only if you assume all routers have a mesh capability, the one I'm using now is "just a router", it doesn't have a mesh capability
Most ASUS routers have AiMesh capability. You can get a standalone ASUS router now (which gives you more choices) and you can add other ASUS routers later to set up a mesh. If you are contemplating getting just one of these units, it means that you don't have issues with coverage, so why are you considering setting up a mesh now or in the future? Are you expecting to move into a bigger place?
Nah not the same
Is this the new Xbox?
I use a DECO x90 - 2 pack system.
With around 50 devices connected.
Runs like a dream and I get good speeds over wifi. 800-1.2Gbps on speed tests.
Cost me around $600 when i purchased over a year ago.
I would think a 2 node system will give you better coverage than 1.
Well it did for me as I live in a 2 storey home.
I'd prefer this as its Wifi 7. and has 4x 2.5G Eth ports. Says it can do 200 devices (same as my x90). AU power adapter.
Sold by Amazon AU.

Looks good but isn't out for another two weeks. I think the twin pack can be bought.
I may look for an "ax" three pack as I have three "main rooms" where all the gadgets are and it would be nice to have a wired backbone between three mesh'd units rather than being reliant on just one… but I also don't need to waste money for no reason…
If the ET8 (or similar) go on sale (black friday?) that could be a good option.
ASUS Australia doesn't sell any Wi-Fi 6E mesh system other than the ET12. They don't sell the ET8 locally.
Would officeworks beat that price?
Just be mindful that European variants have reduced transmission power and missing bands due to local laws, see local XT8 threads for more information. Therefore this IMHO is not worth at $648 (or $1300 for two), you are better off with the AU variant of the XT12 for the same price.
Good point. I still haven't putchased, was hoping for a decent price on Australian units and I'm fairly sure I only need the one! Can get a three pack of the TPLINK Deco 6E for $699 now though… tempting… but the ASUS is more configurable.
…how do you have 60 devices? Do you have a family of 20?
