Nexus 7 is better and not much more expensive.

"Card Slots microSD, up to 64 GB"

This wins if you're looking for more than 8GB space.

    • That's fairly subjective. The Nexus 7 is better for me (well I hope so, since I own one) because I value the benefits of a Nexus device (timely updates, clean OS) over the benefits of other OEM devices (microSD expandable memory, unique features of TouchWiz). Other people would most certainly be different and have different requirements.

"Powered by latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich.". Umm, Jelly Bean is latest, not ICS.

  • I'd rather go with Scotty's recommendation of the PIPO's 7 inch RK3066 tab from BuySKU.

    • Nah. Not really a "recommendation" as I've never used it. Just found it as a cheap alternative to Ainol Fire/Flame for those who are looking for cheap Chinese tablets.

      • Like alot of ozbargainers I jumped and bought the GT 7.7 (vastly superior tab to this'n) a few weeks back for $269 delivered. I spoke to an operator at Mobileciti at the time and asked how many they ended up selling on the day. More than 300 was the answer and then a laugh and a comment that there was a pile more to sell. Where they've ended up I don't know, but in the absence of ringing back I'm going to hope for others that there may still be another promo to come - from somewhere
As for this deal - if it was the 3G version it would be a deal. I might even have bought one on impulse. Maybe.

        • What's the 7.7" got over this one?

        • I'll think 7.7 is better than Galaxy Tab 2 7.0? Comparison here:

          http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4543&idPhone2=…

7.7 has better screen, probably better CPU + GPU (same one used on SGS2), slightly lighter and bigger screen.

        • In addition to what scotty said, the 7.7 has a much more premium feel. It doesn't sound like much, but I think it makes a hell of a difference, having briefly owned a 7.7, and compared to a Tab 2 7".

That said, with 7.7 having the (subjectively) better AMOLED screen, burn-in and ghosting can become major issues (unfortunately the reason for my brief ownership of it)

  • I was going to transition from original galaxy 7 tab to this new one….but disappointed no improvement on screen resolution….. so I went with nexus…. I don't miss 3G…and I can live without microSD slot…….. after u get used to high resolution/ pic density ie on mobile phone….I couldn't stand the low Res of the tablet. Nexus 7 for me was right choice

    • Sorry for the belated response to your question, but here's my two cents worth to add to the above. The premium build of the GT 7.7 really is amazing. When it was designed it was cleary intended as the 'executive' model in Samsung's tab range, with an intended selling price around that of the price the Note stayed at for a long time - 700 bucks or thereabouts. When it turned up without fanfare in Oz just a handful of months ago for (from memory) $570 I was surprised, but the writing was already on the wall with publicity about 'Gaia Project' tabs ($200 7 inch Tegra3 tablets).
With the imminent release of the Nexus 7 the price plunge of the 7.7 began - clearing of stocks of what had already become a discontinued model courtesy of the cost of producing such a large amoled screen.
Here's the really sad thing. That .7 of an inch in screen size on top of the 7 doesn't sound like much, but it makes an amazing difference. As for the virtues of the screen, while really natural skin tones aren't a strong point, overall colour, contrast and sharpness (above and beyond pixel count) are astonishing. Yes, there are issues with screen burn-in (don't even gamble with a screen time-out longer than 5 minutes), and yes there is the spectre (acknowledged by Samsung) of pixel fade issues with Super Amoled 'Plus' screens, but still…
The upshot of all of this is that I reckon if you're in the market for 7 inchish tab with a memory card slot, you're better off buying a GT 7.7 secondhand and updating the OS, than buying an anything else.
As for those not fussed with the memory card issue, when the masses see a soon-to-be-released 7.85 inch iPad mini alongside the Nexus 7 I think I know where the sales are going to go …

  • No 3G function so no phone so no GPS-A so no free Google Maps + GPS for travelling, so get an Optus My Tab. A used one now only worth about $80 on eBay (and probably looks and runs like a new one!!) and they are a gem to travel with. Using mine right now in the good ole US of A…..ever been to Kalamazoo???

  • Rep, you say "It is connected to various network providers …".

Please explain what this means. What network providers ? Can you give an example ?

    Thanks

    • It's not 3G, so that really means nothing — it can't connect to any network.

I think he just copied and pasted the description from elsewhere.
