Decent price on the Z13 I would say. Not quite as good as prior deal for 1TB/32GB that came to about the same price with cashback, but good nonetheless. I'm happy with mine from that deal. Only downside is no USB A ports, and I find this laptop is quite slow turning on vs my old XPS (not sure if this is a lenovo bios thing or a z13 thing).

  • that's a really good price

been holding out for a deal on these - great design and decent spec.
Shame the AUS market gen 1s (13 and 16 in) got gypped on the screens.

The Z13 Gen 2 is allegedly getting the 2.8K OLED option

    • I'm pretty happy with the non oled screen. For the sort of work i do (engineering/software) it's plenty bright etc. Resolution is good for the size also.

Work gave me a choice of the Z13 or an X1 Carbon, after a lot of research I went the Carbon but in some ways the Z13 is superior.

    Pros

    • Very portable yet has a full sized keyboard and acceptable screen size for productivity on the go (for most uses)
    • the AMD CPU means very good performance without the heat, which also leads to..
    • excellent battery life especially with the non-OLED models like this one
    • for the vast majority of non-trackpoint users, a large and responsive trackpad

    Cons

    • just two USB-C ports
    • keyboard shenanigans: Fn and Ctrl swapped (fixable in BIOS), no dedicated PgUp/PgDn/Insert keys, Up/Down arrow keys squashed, PrtSc moved to where Insert should be
    • for trackpoint diehards (like myself), the trackpoint "buttons" are now haptic
    • some reports of discomfort typing due to the lower sharp edges of the opened laptop

So whilst I wish for the long battery life of the Z13 the X1 is superior for me, especially around ergonomics. Then again good luck getting an X1 for $1.6K

I reckon this is a great price especially for newcomers to the brand, I believe that was Lenovo's intention with the Zeds.

    • Yeah agree with all the above. Coming from Intel machines, I agree battery life is amazing. I have 75% charge limit and it still lasts so long.
