    Soundbar 300 isn't great

    • +1

      What should I get instead?

      • Soundbar 900 or Samsung Q990

  • Anyone with experience know how this is compared to Yamaha SR-C20A?

    • +2

Had both- still using the Bose Soundbar 300. The Bose is better sounding- it has an actual tweeter so clearer high frequencies (Yamaha just uses cone fullrange drivers), the midrange sounds better too. Bass is similar for both.

I use dedicated audio gear costing in the 10's of thousands of $ for music/HT, and I feel the Bose does a decent enough job for day-to-day TV viewing. In terms of functionality, the Bose also wins, as it has smart services/wifi connectivity, whereas the Yamaha is just bluetooth.

      • Thanks for the input. Decision decision…not sure if I should spend this additional $100 to upgrade for my 2nd TV…

  • Anyone know what it's like vs the Yamaha YAS 109?

  • This or my Yamaha 3.1 system?

    • +1

Yamaha. I had this Bose 300 last year black friday, and returned them to get credit store. Disappointing sound if you use it without bass module.

    • +1

      always 3.1 > soundbar

      • Excellent. You both just saved me $500.

        • +1

But do you really want to stick with Yamaha? In my earlier years, I always used Yamaha AVRs because they offered excellent specs for the cost. I believed that amps shouldn't color sound and should be neutral, allowing me to EQ to my preferences. However, this turned out to not be the case by a significant margin. When I tried my first Marantz with Audyssey in a 3.1 setup, I was amazed by how much better it sounded compared to the Yamaha with YPAO.

I'm still a Yamaha fanboy, but of the two-wheel kind. When it comes to AVRs, I can't overlook Marantz with HDAM and Audyssey. I'm undecided about Dirac, though.

          • @raybies: Marantz > Yamaha. Marantz $$$, Yamaha $.

Really I already have the Yamaha AVR and 3.1 (it was 5.1) but I’ve moved and was considering a change in set up. I’m going to save my money and stick with what I’ve got.

no more price error from amazon this time😜

    • +2

Haha yeah, after that price error, no one is willing to pay this price anymore without feeling being rip-off XD

  • I had the 700 model. Just be aware you cant plug any bass module into it. It must be boses one which costs a bomb.

    • It's more than 500 for bass module.

In a world pushing towards reducing tech waste I really hate deliberate shitty design preventing me from using my existing sub so they can sell me one of their subs, usually something you only find out after purchasing.

This is not that great of a price for the 300. The 600 was $389 just a few months ago.

Soundbar 300 isn't that great for this price.

Is this one of those sound bars that sound like a $99 Sound Bar and you pay an extra $249 for the brand name?

    • +2

Do you own any brand name products?

      • Yeah and Bose is generally overpriced.

  • FYI Samsung HW-Q700B is back in stock https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/802700

    • +1

Cheers, I have marked it back in stock.
700c was about the same price until yesterday during click frenzy

  • Any Yamaha SB is better than this.

    • Lol you are back

  • I am using hearing aids tv connector to stream directly to hearing aids but at times, I see family and friends watching tv together using optical + TV Speaker feature on tv settings.

Is there any way to have both hearing aids through tv out and Bose/ Samsung sound bar both connected for sound output??

It will be a great help, please advise if anyone knows systems so well!

  • Bose soundbar + hearing aid optical connector to stream to hearing aids together at the same time??????

  • No Atmos..trash

    • True but don’t see how they can do atmos on a 2.1 setup

      • Yup, from a price point Samsung offers that

  • can you use the in built mic to make zoom calls over bluetooth?

  • Still happy with my Samsung T550… brilliant sound and solid built

  • This or a Bose TV speaker for $280 including delivery? For a non audiophile relative and am aware there is a Bose Tax.
