Samsung HW-Q800D-XY 5.1.2 Ch Atmos Soundbar with Wireless Soundbar $645 + Delivery ($0 to Select Cities) @ Appliance Central

150

Hey everyone,

I recently bought the Q800D from Appliances Online for $699, but noticed that Appliance Central has it for $678 with free shipping to most major areas.

Good news:
Appliances Online will price match the lower price and offer next-day delivery included if you show them the link (in case you're charged for shipping).

I reached out to them about the price difference, and they’re giving me a $17 refund.

In today’s cost-conscious times, every dollar counts! 😎

  • This is a great price, I got it months ago from Harvey Norman for $695 and I thought I was doing very well.

I literally picked it up last week for $694 and thought I got a great deal. I price-matched with several stores and saw Costco had it for $699. JB Hi-Fi wouldn't match the price, but Appliances Online did. I ordered it Thursday and got it Friday thanks to their quick delivery. Just checked today out of curiosity to see if the price had gone up, and to my surprise, Appliance Central has it even cheaper!

      • Nicely done, Harvey Norman had it as an error when I got it, I posted it on here but it changed back to 1200ish very quickly. It's a great sound bar I'm very happy with it. I will say that the symphony combined with the TV isnt great.

        • Isn't great?

    • I have seen Q930D going for cheaper than that during Nov-24 which is not long while ago ($636 lowest), How come it's a great price for Q800D?

      • +2

I'm assuming you posted that deal on here for everyone to see?

    Rear speaker not included, right?

How many ears do you have?

      • +3

Ears can detect sound from 360 degrees around you at the same time and not just from the front. It’s not like your ears have to turn off hearing sound from the front to hear sound from the back

      • The soundbar didn't come with surround rear speakers, as in the product page said Dolby Atmos Wireless Rear Speakers (Sold Separately), so not real 5.1

        • -1

This is nothing new. There are 3ch soundbars that claim to have Dolby Atmos.

          • @Maths Debater: Understand that but their product description 5.1.2 is very misleading.

            • @superforever: Unfortunately its not a perfect standard. Those numbers just denote the speaker count so it is technically not misleading - 5 forward firing, 1 subwoofer and 2 upward firing.

    • Just the soundbar and the sub

Why would it? It says Q800D, not Q930/990D.

  • Eclipsa Audio will be supported from the 2025 models only. ie: not this model
Something to keep in mind in case it takes off.

  • +1

Brilliant soundbar the Q800 series. Don't even hesitate.

    • The Q930D has been cheaper than this, I would hesitate.

      • +1

Not everyone can accommodate rear speakers.

        • You can use them as fronts

  • im in an apartment and i dont want to disturb my neighbours. Will this be fine if i turn down the subwoofer / use night mode? My alternative was the sonos beam 2 but i cant pass a good deal lol

    • +1

Yes you don’t even need to connect the subwoofer

      • ah yes i guess that could be the last option in case the neighbours complain. I did hear that without the subwoofers its super tinny. I will play around with the subwoofer settings to make it less annoying

Can do better if you wait: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/881157

    • Aussie dollar is tanking - could be waiting a long time?

  • Picked this up yesterday after price matching at good guys. Very impressed so far!

  • They are good speakers I have no issue with them, my only word of advice is tread carefully around systems that claim to be dolby atmos, its one thing to have the label on the box, its a totally different story as to how capable they are of accurately conveying the atmos feature, in my opinion you need rear speakers to get the proper experience. The whole speakers "throwing sound around the room" idea really depends on the room the speakers sit in and it can be very hit and miss.

    • -1

Yeah, I don't think anyone is buying this for Dolby Atmos.

      • You would be wrong to assume, not everyone does in depth research before they buy. Alongside that Dolby shills their atmos badge to anyone that fits their very loose requirements so it makes for murky water for any consumer that isn't fully aware of the pitfalls, thats why I mention it, it may help even just one person make the right decision and im cool with that.

There's a reason to get this system, but I'll just post since I was considering this versus the 930D.

Having the rear channels now, I don't think I could go back. When you have atmos or even 5.1 channel content, it's transformative. Yes you'll need speaker stands or somewhere to mount them, and they'll need power, so some small setups, sure, but otherwise, I paid $880 for a 930D, well worth it for the satellites imo

  • Why do you prefer to buy from Appliances Online over Appliances Central? I've bought from neither so don't know.

    • appliances online has next day delivery

  • +1

FYI appliance central lowered their prices again to $645

    • i had already price matched at TGG but i reached out and they are refunding the difference :)

    • oh nice yeah just got it price matched with TGG for $645

  • Back Order

  • Back up to $745 now at Appliance Central and OOS.

Harvey Norman has it for $668.

  • If anyone is still interested in this, Good Guys had it for $658 over the weekend but has now gone back up to $1099.

I didn't get a chance to get into the store but just got it for $658 via online chat using Retravision's online price ($665) https://www.retravision.com.au/samsung-512-ch-q-series-sound…
