  • So if it's Expedia Australia, does that mean it only applies to booking accommodation located in Australia or is it accommodation anywhere for Australian Expedia customers?

    • +1

      Accommodation anywhere can be booked

  • +1

    On the APP it’s says there’s a $180 cap

  • +3

As always, check the price clicking through SB and not. The price will almost always be higher without SB but at 17% it may make up the difference.

Also keep in mind the final cashback might be based on some arbitrary lower figure because "taxes". Last time I had a ~1800 stay pay cashback based on ~1000.

    • +1

      This ^

Also applies to other travel site cashbacks. Dodgy as…..

  • Nice perfect timing!

  • Quick question. Do two separate transactions be capped at $50 with westpac? Or is it capped $50 per transaction?

  • -2

I'm booking now, but the Shopback is showing "up to 12%" not 17

    • Deal starts at 12pm AEST

      • D'OH!
        silly me.

This will be good - I had a long weekend booked in Coffs Harbour for a studio, this gets me a 2 bedroom by the beach for $50 less.

    • man read the title pls haha..

  • Can you book the hotels with free cancellation where you don't pay until the day before your stay or can you only book hotels where you're paying now?

    • +1

Standard cashback can be either pay now or pay later. But for Westpac cashback, you must pay now to be eligible for bonus cashback

  • How does the bonus westpac cashback work? Do you just need to pay with a westpac card?

    • +1

You need to register your card with Shopback first (can be done through the westpac app or the cashback website) then when you use it online with the shopback activated it will recognise it and apply the % discount.

  • Is the $180 cap per booking or total?

    • +4

Hey mate, cap listed is per booking, just make sure you exit Expedia and click through from Expedia again in between bookings to ensure each one tracks.

      • wow per booking, this is a ripper.

      • Is the westpac cap per booking or per user?

        • +1

Yep, unless it's specified otherwise on our app or website, all our caps listed will always be per transaction.

          • @gotyourback: Would be a good idea to specify it so that you don't get repeatedly asked the same thing at every deal.

            • @lomie: I don't mind answering the same q, it's easier for our team to only specify when it's per account considering how rare that is. Will pass on the feedback to our team that manage how our offers are displayed, however.

              • +2

@gotyourback: I cant seem to find the terms and conditions but can you confirm that this works using the shopback app and clicking through to expedia to complete purchase. During the whole process the shopback footer was there.

I didn't use expedia app, jsut the embedded browser within shopback app

                • @wearabloodymask: Hey hey, sorry I missed this earlier. For the record that's fine, Expedia bookings don't need to be made on their app to be eligible for this rate mate, you should be all good.

  • Do they charge in AUD directly?

  • Do flights ever get these promos?

  • I have recorded the prices now, hopefully no pricejack when this activates

    • No price jack!

  • Price on mobile app is 14% less than website price (where cashback is available)

Is it worth the extra 3% and risk cashback not tracked or getting declined ?

    Ugh

    • where are u seeing this ? for me prices are very similar

      • +2

My bad for the second time. My expedia app applied my rewards point . After i switched it off it shows similar price.

        Doh

    • Mobile website is usually has the discount as mobile app. The t&c usually say no mobile app for cashback, they don't say no mobile site.

    • Where does it say its only applicable on website?

I purchase through clickthrough on shopback.

  • Compare with other booking sites! Agoda was cheaper for a hotel even after 27% cashback!

    • Always check around, but for me I managed to rebook a resort in a bigger (2 bedroom) for much less.

  • Do you need to pay full amount upfront for this to apply?

    • yes for westpac

  • Turns out the 10% discount I was seeing in my browser became 15% after clicking through the shopback app on my phone, winning!

  • Is the cash back once per transaction? Or total?

    • per, see shopback rep reply above

  • How to get Westpac Bonus cashback? First, add the card to the payment method. Then the book requires to manually enter the credit card to complete the booking. Is it qualified for Westpac Bonus cashback?
Or do I have to select the credit card from Shopback payment method when making the payment?
    Thank you!

  • Westpac card question please. Overseas stays booked using a Westpac card via the Expedia Australia website will still attract 3% foreign transaction fees? Would anyone know please?

    • Wait really 🧐

I booked everything not seeing the 3%

    • I’ve booked overseas stays for several times and wasn’t charged foreign fee.

  • Is anyone able to confirm whether payments have FX conversion charged. The checkout amount is displayed in AUD.

  • Has anyones transactions tracked alrdy?

    • Nah it’s not instant track

      • Same here, still no tracked.

    • Not yet but I’d give it a day before worrying

    • Hasn't tracked yet for me, been 2.5hours. Hopefully will track by tmr

      • Got the tracking!

    • tracked. received the email at 4am this morning.

    • Tracked with westpac bonus !

  • +1

Anyone know if I part pay for a hotel with 'Expedia Reward Points' if I still get cashback for the $ amount or is the whole thing void and 0% cashback?

    • I read t and c’s and it said it will it will invalidate cashback if paid via points.

      • I saw that… but wasn't sure if it meant the full total of partial

        Anyways I didn't pull the trigger :)

  • Do you need to use the in-built browser in the Shopback app on mobile? Doesn't seem to open the Expedia app on Android like it does with other travel apps. The Shopback browser is super clunky

  • Some hotels have 'member pricing' when logged in to the Expedia site, would the cashback still apply for these hotels?

Sorry if the answer is covered somewhere, had a quick look at the terms but didn't see it covered.

    • +1

      yes it will be

      • Cheers!

Any idea about the mobile site being eligible/ineligible?

        • +1

did you mean mobile app? as long as you click through Shopback it will take you to the mobile app

If you mean the site, you will have to install shopback extensions i think!

          • @sauce2k: I was referring to the mobile site specifically, but if the app is eligible I can just do via that also.

            Cheers!

  • Does cashback apply to “hotels” only or any accomodation on the Expedia?

  • this is amazing, well done shopback.

i have rebooked about 8 different bookings and probably saved a further $800 or so!

  • Wont neg this, but I am still waiting on Expedia cash back from an early 2023 purchase worth several hundred…

No explanation given to why it hasnt been given, nearing 2 months late from their expected payout date, been "under investigation" for a couple of weeks with no updates.

Not optimistic, but they have absolutely zero reason not to pay it out given it tracked fine.

    • well that's concerning …have you spoken to them?

    • Yes I have - they are "inquiring with the merchant"

      • +1

Ffs that’s annoying. What’s there to check 🤦‍♂️

      • +1

I have good experience with them most of the time, but one of the cashback also passed payout period, and they have been inquiring with merchant for a month with no updates whatsoever (not Expedia).

        • Good, but also sad, to see I'm not the only one.

Smells bad - everyone beware if you are basing your decision on these attractive cashback rates from Expedia…

    • same here but with cashrewards

    • +1

Hey there mate, sorry to hear of the trouble you're facing here. When Cashback is paid out, it does need to be approved by the merchant before it can be paid out, which is why occasionally these payouts can be late as we wait for the merchant to get this sorted for you. Happy to help escalate these late approvals where possible, shoot me a DM if you're still waiting for an update come next week and I'll do what I can.

  • Does the “change” to booking which can result into cashback being rejected include change to name of the traveller? Accidentally my name down for the booking when it should have been for my husband. If I change the travellers name will this void the eligibility?

  • +1

No pricing jacking of the hotels that I was looking at

  • if the payment is to be paid at property, will cashback still track?

    • Not for westpac

  • Anyone having issues adding Westpac card to Shopback?

  • The westpac 10% doesn't end till midnight if anyone missed out.

    • And the base cashback is still currently 12% (as opposed to the standard 6%) in addition to the Westpac bonus.

      • Now 11% base cashback for the rest of today and the Westpac bonus has dropped back to the usual 2%.

  • If I amend of cancel some of my hotels in the one "click instance" do I forgo the 17% cashback?

  • tracked

    • same here. Love how they specify it's Westpac Bonus

      • Same, but hopefully no drama at payout time like comments above
