Seeing the Millennium Falcon as the thumbnail reminds me of this scene in ESB

    Leia
    Let go, please.

    Han
    Don't get excited.

    Leia
Captain, being held by you isn't quite enough to get me excited.

You could cut the sexual tension with a knife in that movie…

      • It was virtual Lady Chatterley’s Lover with Light Sabres…

  • I thought this had been running for a while now.

outside of the large adult sets, which is always excluded, you could get lego from kmart for way cheaper everyday prices.

  • It’s all the crap sets.

  • bummer seems even with discount doesn't come close to Amazon MF deal

Given this is a bargain site and not a lego site, I don't see how it's a troll comment.

You assume I don't know the difference? From what I've read there's many brands with different qualities. I've only bought 2 sets of the same brand for my kids, so I'm only just getting started on them. Majority of parts like blocks, elbows and pins are same quality as lego, but some of the smaller intricate parts like hoses, cogs, wheel coverings etc are not as good. Apparently the sets that are rip-off copies of Lego are herder to find higher quality.

The ones I bought are awesome 30cm long sets and I got them for $34.50 each. The equivalent Lego would be $250+ easily. Instructions and bags are like what lego used to be 30+ years ago too. One thing I don't like about Lego now is that the bags are all grouped and numbered and the instructions are so detailed that there's no thought required anymore. These sets are a few unordered bigger bags and we have to find the pieces. Some people don't like that but I much prefer it.

As for links, there's no one site for them so research is required. I bought these from Amazon:
        - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CDPKDKY3

My kids are 6 and 7 and although I had to help them a few times, they were able to complete them OK. Took them much longer than Lego too, due to the instructions and mixed bags, which is a big bonus. It was harder for them than the "18+" Lego sets that we have like Optimus prime, helmets, Yoda, blah blah

        Nice edit.

Unless it's a Lego set that's been cloned/copied, which part is piracy?

    • +1

I totally agree. There are some really good alternative "brick" companies out there by now, and most of them don't charge the (by now) ridiculously high Lego prices.
These companies aren't involved in piracy as they are not copying any of the Lego stets. And many of them are actually much better and more interesting sets than Lego -imho.

This has been confirmed in several court cases in Germany (may also be the case in other countries). Lego over there has been trying to make life difficult for re sellers of these alternative sets. And after not having any success they're now resorting to suing them for any set that has a mini-figure with even slightly similar features to Lego's mini-figures.

PS: Imagine having a store like this here in Australia (they have number of Brick and Mortar stores all over Germany and their online shop) : https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/

Just the number of trains models alone they are selling is insane compared to Lego. Brought two with me from a trip earlier this year for my son (who has a ton of genuine Lego including a couple train sets). The quality of these sets is just as good if not better with incredible attention to detail - for fraction of the price.

      • Cheers for the heads up.

Are you aware on anywhere that sells them online, or have you only got these bargain train sets on your travels?

        • +1

I got them on an oversea trip in one of their actual stores. However, they also ship oversea for relatively rational shipping fees I believe.
Another good source is Aliexpress. Of course they have many Lego copies on there but they also have some genuine brands (like Xingbao) and plenty of train(set) options; though I cannot vouch for the quality.
I have ordered a number of different sets from Aliexpress, no trains though, and so far never had anything that was not decent quality.

  • Can they do a 20% cashback c&c again? Thanks
