75% off Google One Subscription for the First 3 Months (Selected New Google One/Drive Subscribers Only) @ Google

130

Just found it in the Google Drive app, my account is 95% full on free tier (never subscribed) but it has been a part of my Google Family with a paid Google One subscription (on another main account) before but the offered account was on the free tier when this offer appeared.

Offers for 100GB, 200GB and 2TB plans for monthly and annual.

Doesn't seem to appear on my other accounts (with Google Family + Google One) with exceeded storage quota after I chose not to renew my Google One plan yet.

I can also access this deal from Google One app and clicking upgrade but it only works on the acct that was always on free tier excluding being added to Google Family with Google One Sub before.

Cool offer especially after those other hacky deals prior, maybe some publicity recovery.

I have photos of the G Drive prompt and also annual plan discount, seems the monthly ones give a slightly better price or same value as monthly. Couldn't find how to upload multiple photos to a deal, seems to only accept one photo but you can check my profile for more.

I have this offer as well and I'm actually interested in subscribing.
Should I create Google Family first so that I can share it with my wife and then take this offer? or do I accept this offer first and then create Google Family after that?

It doesn't matter when they join your Google family to share the paid benefits. There is a toggle in https://one.google.com or in-app settings (cog wheel) to share the extra storage with family members. https://one.google.com/faq/plan-sharing

      This article more specifically. https://support.google.com/googleone/answer/9004015?hl=en&re…

"Step 1: Set up a family group
On your computer, sign in to your Google Account.
      Go to g.co/YourFamily. https://families.google.com/
Click Get Started and then Create family group.
Follow the instructions to add family members and set up a Family Library.
Learn about the roles you set when you create a family group. https://support.google.com/googleone/answer/7103337

Step 2: Share with your family
On your computer, go to Google One. http://one.google.com/
Click Settings > cog wheel upper right.
Turn on Share Google One with family.

      • Thank you for the explanation. Another thing that I want to ask:

If I subscribe annually at the discounted price for this year, will the price revert to the normal price next year or will I still be charged at discounted price?

        • You should just get re-billed at whatever plan/GB you sign up to.

I am going to check the app now and see if anything there. Edit: can't see any such promos. Already pay for 100GB

        • Seems the annual discount would just be for first 3 months and then Google has another 16% off for annual plans. The only difference is you end up paying the 3 months in one go on Annual plan which is why I said the monthly plan is probably best if you want to save more money in your own account.

          • @LastByte IT: Sorry, I need to get my eyes checked. I was mistaken about the annual pricing. I initially thought the 100 GB's original subscription price was $43.99 and the promo enabled me to get it for $24.99 a year. That is not the case.

All good. I paid for the 100 GB and shared it with my wife.

Something to keep in mind (which many people probably learned very recently) is that you can only change Google Families once every 12 months. So if you've set up a new Family and invite your family's accounts to it, you'll be expecting to keep it that way for at least 12 months.

      • You can change as many times as you want as long the Google account isn't the one you bought a paid service with. I've tested it with my accounts that have no paid services.

  • What after 3 months, if I will not continue the subscription? What will happen to my files, will it continue to stay there or it will be deleted?

    • +2

If you go over the free storage quota, your files will remain, you just won't be able to add anything new. You also will not be able to send and receive new emails.

      • Yeah, except emails continue to work for a few weeks after I believe.

        • Probably so Google can continue to market to you but much better than Apple who would probably just restrict you to Apple only emails or your Telco when your plan expires.

  • Or get Google One Turkey, it's $3.32 for 200GB, $16.40 for 2TB all for 1 year membership. Or OG Pixel for unlimited photo/video uploads at OG quality (if that is all you care about)

and run the risk of getting banned. I wouldn't use it for my primary email account.
I'm still paying $2.50/month for 100gb and it's fine. The Free storage (15GB isn't really enough these days).

      • People in Turkey do move abroad so not concerned about a ban. 2+ years now.

        • dunno just look at all the other comments in the other threads.
So you moved your AUS gmail account to Turkey?
People do get banned, may not be common but it would be noticed if you change countries etc.

@G-rig: I setup a new Google profile to Turkey, removing my Australian one. Netflix, Google One are Turkey, YouTube is Argentina.

The most recent popular deal nobody has reported their account as banned.

I use a lot of storage as I uploaded 4K60 footage, so it would cost me a fortune. But I also use an original Pixel phone so none of the uploads count towards my storage limits.

            • @Lucille Bluth: Yes i have several profiles too (mostly for payments), and the vpn tricks for streaming etc.
I just haven't messed with my primary gmail account.

Anyway YYMV but I'd only do this with an account you don't care about and information you don't mind losing.

Just get a harddrive for your tiktoks.

      • Mine autorenewed again for another year 2 weeks ago. Seems like they are clamping down though as per Reddit.

    • Somehow read that as "turnkey" 🤣

  • My Google rewards app pays for this I'm just on the 100gb plan though

    • How U get that, have to leave reviews, I've ignore that seems like money for games/apps (play pass/play points?), didn't know you can get 2.50/month

      • +1

It's called Google Opinion Rewards on the app store, they give you credit for answering surveys about where you have visited, YouTube videos and other stuff. Usually pay between 10c to $1 for each. I'm up to $30 for the year so far

        • Sounds good. I'm up for that.

        • Hmm sounds a bit like local reviews levels or whatever it is, unlocks discounts eventually. Assume this is something else. Would be a bit of effort but good if can do it under a fake account/name. Don't think my time would be worth it for chump change (a bit like cashbacks but do those anyway).

      • Download app and leave gps on.

Everyime i go shops i get a survey asking if you went to xx store, did you buy anything, how you paid and upload receipt. This usually gives 60-80c. Ive always randomised my answers and scanned receipts i find from the trolleys.

Wouldnt call it reviews, its more like "help us profile yourself"

  • Sigh these subs are like a gateway drug

  • Any worthy alternatives ?

  • I have YT premium on Turkey pricing and I’m prompted to upgrade Google one ok TYR discounted prices (3 months free and then normal pricing)

When I subscribe it says check the country settings on my play store.

Question is if I sign up to Google One on AU pricing, would that affect my YT premium sub?
