Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including July 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" " or "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong. Possible fraud scenario: API returns during purchase - credit to @himalpatel. Live chat advised that if you faced the above fraud scenario message, you need to use your friends details (aka a completely different details) to order
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

The code is not listed in CR, though I know some people said the $50 cashback still tracked fine.

    • +6

      Tracking doesnt equal approved.

    • You can submit a claim via Cashrewards - just make sure you turn off adblocker, and if buying multiple purchases, click back at the extension. I've bought many many sims, and I've only ever had 2 no track - contacted Cashrewards and within 2 weeks they added the cashback to my balance.

  • “No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.”

Then reward loyal customers so they won’t have to do this?!?!

    • +9

Companies don't know what loyal is. They just know profit

      • +1

        The companies are like spouses.
When you start thinking of leaving,
only then, the current one wants to treat you right (if lucky!)

  • Can I transfer my number away for a few days then back again?
I don’t fully comprehend the wording on the recharge bit.

    • +2

Yes, the way you use these with the least hassle is to transfer out to a different provider and back in. Leaving at least a few days between transferring out and in minimises the chances of running into problems. The recharge reference is to people who try to use these starter packs to directly add time/credit to an existing boost number like you would use a recharge voucher. There used to be a way to do this via live chat but they have cracked down on it.

      • Thanks

      • Do I need to create a new account, email , etc when ordering?
I’m fine porting away and back again.

    • ozbargain.com.au/753886 explains experiences. Cant do it with chat anymore. Might be lucky if phone them, but you will have a mark against your file. Port away and in for the DIYer

    • +4

Don't think this is enough to justify a neg. Price is better after cashback then what I could get about a year ago price matching at Officeworks.

  • +7

Huge discount but too bad I just need 60gb data a year not 260

  • Can anyone confirm, if the cash back tracked without any issues?

    • Yeah I'm wondering the same thing if it'll be tracked

  • +2

Any deal for $230 starter pack?

    • +4

Wow…I just saw the Boost website,
      and that cheapest 12-month plan
-is- the $230 starter pack !?!

This was $150, only a few years ago
plus I don't need so much data anyway.

In that case, I'm looking for a deal for this starter-pack too,
as my recharge time is coming up in a couple of months' time.

      • +1

Same. Mine (boost) ends 25th November

        • you can always try Amaysim black friday/cyber monday deals next month. I am waiting for that for my 12 month expiry

          • @souths123: How much was the deal last year black friday for amaysim?

              • @souths123: So it would be 85$, 150gb very good even though I don't need that many GB.

                • @CyberMurning: if they do a similar thing this year….they got rid of the 60GB plan which at half price was $60….so it was a great plan if you could get it. Even the 120GB plan is gone, unless you already have the plan, and that was $90 I think….so, sneakily putting up the prices by getting rid of the lower GB plans on the website….if I can get one for the $85, I will be happy though. My husband just asked for a loyalty discount and they gave him 25% off his plan to renew, which made it $111…but his was due for renewal beginning of this month, so he couldn't wait for a Black Friday deal unless he went to month to month until then. Luckily I have until 27th of Nov, I think

                  • @souths123: oh thats the full story…:)
for your husband probably tell him to move to catch connect $89 deal recently posted here.
i have the opposite case with yours, my mrs cant wait for black friday but i can so we may need to use different provider
(she go with catch, and i wait for better deal)

      • +1

Moose mobile might give you a bit of time to wait for a deal. $9 a month in Optus. I'm currently waiting for a good boost deal.

    • +2

I bought this from ebay for $179.70 with HGTSAVE code. Also maximised it with ebay gift card 2.5% discount via Cashrewards.

      • Different plan mate, your link is 170GB, this is 260GB

        • +4

But good info for ppl need less data.

  • +1

Tempting. Wonder if I should wait for Black Friday for a better deal to beat this.

  • can you buy more than one in 2x seperate transactions on the same cash rewards account?

    • +1

Yes! You can buy 2x Seperate Transactions (each transaction with one SIM each) on the same Cashrewards account.

  • -1

Bought from auditech for $244 do you think they will match it. Or refund the difference.

    • It is cheaper than 260 boost offers
I don't think they can match casback offer

  • +5

Come on boost, give us e-sim

  • Need less data on a 12 months plan.
Will port to this $6 SIM for now till another suitable offer comes up

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806095

    • Amaysim usually have deals in Nov for black friday/cyber monday….although have also gotten rid of their lower data 12 month packages. I barely use my data, just want some data and unlimited calls/sms etc within Australia for a reasonable amount with a reliable network provider. Amaysim usually ticks the boxes

      • +1

        Thanks.
Thinking to buy Boost again as it has better coverage in my area

  • Any one month SIM deal except Libra to take advantage of this offer for an existing offer Boost customers

    • Coles Mobile on special this week. $10 for 15 GB, 30 day expiry. Network : Optus

Can CR rep confirm cashback eligibility?

    • +1

Last time I pm’ed tightarse and this is what he replied: “Hi and thanks for the PM. Code is not listed on site so up to you whether you proceed. If it tracks, you should be ok. If it doesn’t track, we have no comeback. Hope this helps.”

  • Can you clarify this part -

“Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including July 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order”

What relevance does July 31 have to this deal? Are you saying we have until July next year to order this deal and as long as activation happens within 30 days of order we get $50 cash back?

    • +1

It's just stating the historical timeframe in which Cashrewards pay out Boost cashbacks. They are usually paid the end of the second month after purchase. e.g. All purchases made in July 2023 were paid out at the end of September. All August purchases are expected to be paid out next week.

      • Ahh thanks, makes sense now. Cheers

  • Does anyone know if I can receive calls while overseas or check my voicemail?
My current plan ends in a month and was going to buy this but I’ll need access to voicemails and receive calls.

  • +2

Has anyone's transaction tracked? Wondering if it will track given code is not stated on the website.

    • +1

i just placed an order using the code and paid $260. The cashback was tracked within a minute for $50. The email confirmation from cashrewards mentions the amount of $260. So looks all good.

      • Thanks for confirming!

  • Doh. Just bought it for $240 without Cashback. Still a good deal

    • thanks for the confirmation about to buy it. Will wait for better deal

  • Wonder if you get error messages like other boost profits deals. I see no one so far

    • Maybe their "anti-fraud" detection is just on the "profit" sims. Seems like no one is getting the "SOMETHING WENT WRONG" error when buying this plan.

  • Having issues with the Boost Mobile App since Sunday. App says "No Boost Mobile SIM detected" although the SIM is very much in the phone, and the data works as well. Just wanting to check my data balance, but I am unable to do so.

Any tips on how may I get it working? Or is it down for everyone?

    • Contact chat support via the website, they should be able to help you sort it out.

    • I've had it be sketchy for a few weeks now, I feel they definitely changed something about a month ago. Most of the time most of my services won't show up in the app any more, just the sim in the device. I'll quite often have it say Nothing To See Here with a little puzzled smiley face.

Again, no issues with data or connectivity, all services run fine. Just the app has become essentially useless now. (Yes I've checked it's up to date, running the latest version.)

    • A simple workaround I found is to dial *111# and then choose option 3 to see your data balance(s).
Note that the "Activation Data" and Bonus Data (simply referred to as "Data") are shown separately.

Funnily, the "Data" (Bonus) appears first followed by international minutes inclusions etc. And you have to Input a "0" again to get the next screen which shows the "Activation Data" i.e. the original data inclusion of the plan.

just an info to all - i just placed an order using the code and paid $260. The cashback was tracked within a minute for $50. The email confirmation from cashrewards mentions the amount of $260. So looks all good.

    • Same.

  • +1

Just took the gamble and tracked within 3 minutes.

  • +2

@tightarse any deal coming up this year, as part of frenzy deals last year boost Mobile dealwas perfect 😀. Waiting for this year frenzy deal

  • So if I want to continue with boost for another year, the cheapest option is to recharge $230 for a year? That's not a good price, right? Really no other choice except port out?

  • Does SIM need to be activated by a certain date to qualify for the cash back? I don't see that listed here but am wary because most other similar deals had deadline for activation date.

    • +1

      Says it in the OP:

SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering.

      • Thanks @wavesgreen. Don't know how I missed that.

  • Do I need to port out before buying the sim online? Or do I only need to port out for a few days before activating the sim once it arrives?

    • +1

No need to port before purchase, just port out few hours and straight back if you want I think, no need to wait few days.

  • Cheers just ordered, now to find a cheap sim for a few days… suggested?

  • -1

Anyone know when boost august cashback will be approved?

    • No clue! Hopefully soon.

  • +2

    Was told I'm ineligiable

"Please be advised that as a discount code was used that was not advertised on Cashrewards, the offer is ineligible.

However, what I have done now is manually added this transaction into your Cashrewards account and marked it as pending, hoping that we would be able to obtain cashback from Boost Mobile.

The transaction will show as pending while the store confirms your eligibility for cashback. This can take 30-90 days, so we ask you please to be patient while the claim is investigated. The store uses this time to ensure there have been no changes or cancellations and to check their analytics to ensure the sale is to Cashrewards.

The estimated approval time listed against your transaction does not apply to queried transactions so please ignore this.

Let's hope this works out favourably. Please do reach out should you have any further questions."
