MSI Vector GP68HX 16" QHD+ 240hz, i7-13700HX, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD, RTX4080 $3299 + Delivery @ Mwave

110

Im currently looking for an RTX 4080 laptop and came across this as one of the cheapest options. There is a slightly cheaper model for $200 less but it only has 16gb ram, 1tb ssd and a 1080p 144hz display which is apparently pretty crap going by reviews.
You can also use code BOCT23AC38256 to get a BONUS Roccat Elo Air 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound Wireless Gaming Headset which goes for $199 so thats a nice bonus too.
Thoughts on this deal? Or is it better to wait for a better 4080 deal?

  • Looks pretty good for the specs

looks good if the reviews are good, I finally pulled the trigger on the 4080 Legion Pro 7i the other day for $3779 with cashrewards 15% cashback which is now ended but they regularly have 13-15% cashback which sometimes lines up with a Lenovo 33% off.

    • There’s also an open box omen 17 with the 4090 for basically the same price, im torn on what to get. The better build quality and slightly more portable chassis with more storage or the more powerful 4090.

      • You're right! It's back! HP Omen for $3390 https://www.hp.com/au-en/shop/omen-gaming-gaming-laptop-17-i…
Unfortunately, cashrewards is not appealing at this time, just 4.5%

          nah, no stock?

          • @inusure: you're right… and the cashrewards would be 2.5%

      • you wont be able to see a huge improvement from RTX 4080 to RTX 4090 ( around 5% max)
So if you already got the Omen RTX, just stick with it.
        otherwise, go for this deal.

I think the Legion Pro 7i is a better choice, and it's getting cheaper. Let's see what comes on Black Friday

      • I agree with this

  • Take care with the USB speed ratings on this laptop. I haven't checked them but it would be prudent for any prospective buyers to.

It may not be able to charge through USB-C either, which can often be a killer as it means that a replacement charger will be expensive.

    • no USB-C charging standard come close to the power this thing can draw. Even with USB-C charging, you would need to have the original charger to actually use the powerful components on it.

      • Good point. When stationary, one should always use the supplied adaptor. However, the lack of usb-c charging may cause issues for portability/docking compatibility, where one does not need to use all of the computational power of the device
