Plus a free 4 in 1 Tape Measure Jaycar Promo

    • Haha yes I saw that but wasn't sure if it was for everybody as i have an account with quite a high spend history
Looks like everyone gets the free tap measure too

      • Ordered one. Does this thing have an inbuilt battery or just works while plugged in?

        • +1

This one just whilst plugged in - there are battery versions however the larger size battery is really the only one worth getting and it costs nearly as much as the fridge

  • How is this compared to the ALDI 75L (I think it costs $599). https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/aldi-portable-frid…
    Thanks

    • I read a comment b4 that someone owned this brand many yrs without a problem. I bought 1, cause $219 vs aldi $599 but only smaller a little bit

  • +1

If have power tools 18v battery you can run from that 5 ah Ryobi lasts for 2.5 hours on my 30L fridge

    • how does it connect?

      • +2

Normally you get to power plug one is cigarette plug
Cut them and connect with Andeson connectors and battery adapter
I also use 12v step down transformer

You can probably skip the step down. These should run safely on anything up to about 30v

          • @outlander: Might think that you are running from 24v and battery is flat though.

            • @bamzero: You can set the disconnect voltage to a custom value I believe. I haven't tried it, but I'm reasonably sure it would work okay. And generally speaking the higher voltage you can run it at the better.

              • @outlander: Yeh, not sure. At 12V the app only shows cutoff options of 9V, 11.5V and 12V so I'm guessing they are just doubled for 24V. Wouldn't take long for a tool battery to hit 18V.

        • What does the output voltage look like on the transformer as the Ryobi battery falls from 20V?

        • cool stuff.. i learned something today… so if i just use this rarely i can just build using above and use my ryobi battery to power this while the car is not running. Am i right?

    • I recently picked up the Rovin 35L with a cover that they had on clearance for $109.

Tested it with my 55Wh jump starter pack which outputs 15V and ran somewhere between 3 and 4 hours I think (I stopped paying attention and not exactly sure when it went flat, probably closer to 3). Temps were set pretty conservatively though, was shaded but about 35 degrees that day.

Was planning on using tool batteries with a step down too, but pockets on the cover perfectly fit the jump starter so might just get a larger jump starter or daisy chain with cheap 20000mAh power banks I have to extend the runtime.

      Wish mine had wheels though..

Ordered one, thanks OP, and the 4 in 1 Tap added automatically when checkout. Hope it can run with solar panel and small Lifepo4 battery setup. Will try power tool batteries later.

Bought this for 350 last year. So far going good, Used only a handful of road trips. I run it of 12V from car and switch to a 12 deep cycle battery in a battery box when car not running. Draws about 3A current average which means I get about 15 hours on 100 AH battery until it goes 50 percent charge. It has a Bluetooth app which works well on my phone handy to monitor temperatures. You might need to set battery protection feature to medium, other wise it will error out while connected to car 12V.

    • Can I connect this directly to my car’s cigarette lighter? Or do I need Anderson plug?

      • +2

Yep, connect to 12V (Cigarette) outlet

    • Which battery box are you using? Sounds like one 100AH battery can last a day and half. Doesn’t sound long for a weekend camping trip

Just bought the single zone 30l one for 199. So had to buy this at 219 as dual zone. Soon I'll own the whole damn monkey circus

    • Ima try return the 39L

    • Managed to return the 30L and got them to price match Jaycar just paid the $20 diff.

  • I have a Rovin 30 Lt fridge freexer still new in box as back up from last deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/715006

Really prefer to have this bigger dual zone as backup and one day my main fridge as I travel a lot, but not sure if I can

get a quick easy sale on marketplace/gumtree for getting my $160 odd back? Bit of hassle.

    • +1

Yeah I have tried to sell a brand new, in box Brass Monkey on eBay - really hard to move.
I think people prefer to buy them with guarantee from a known retailer. Yours will probably eventually sell at that price though. That is a good deal for somebody - pretty cheap
There are classifieds on Ozbargain too - maybe worth a crack.

      • +1

Yeah, temporarily staying at my sisters 1 1/2 from the coast in a small town whilst working on my

next van conversion, so pretty busy and also not so many potential buyers close by. Hmmm.

  • great deal if you are near a jay car, but shipping kills the deal for me :(

    • +2

$8 if you buy through eBay

      • -2

nice, but i prefer free shipping. i will dwell on it for a little bit and make perhaps buy it on eBay. thanks mate.

  • +1

I just clicked on the eBay link and have $20 off code so for $199 + $8 postage think I might have to get one to try…..jcar has just opened a store here so might go suss out in-store if they have and see if they'll match in-store and buy there and then if so. Thanks OP

  • Tempted to get one to go in conjunction with my Akai 45L Portable Fridge Freezer that is more a Fridge, than a freezer.

Buy this one and have it as a dedicated freezer………

  • been waiting for the 35L to go on sale..

    https://www.jaycar.com.au/35l-brass-monkey-portable-dual-zon…

    • Are you after it for the wheels element? I use my Akai on a Toolpro trolley fits well and I have a trolley for other things then too.

      • +1

I don't think you will get many converts to Akai brand - its just a generic brand name these days that the owners put on whatever goods are going cheap.
If you are happy with it, that's good but wait and see how it performs over a few years.

        • +1

Oh I know, just saying that is what I use for my current fridge. Just more about Jayd3n and why wanting the 35L version. If it is for the wheels, well a trolley like I use would be sufficient.

So far the Akai performs well, but it is more a fridge than a fridge + freezer.

          • @geekcohen: I wish my Rovin 35L had wheels. The trolley's almost as much as I paid for the fridge though :D

  • +2

    Thanks OP, great deal….

For those who don't have a $20 off code

You can try using this code, 'HGTSAVE' it will give you $15 off.

I was searching eBay for other items and came across this code, which works for this deal.

  • Does anyone know where I can get the cover for cheap

    • Did you manage to find a cheap cover for this? I’m still hunting for one. $139 RRP is ridiculous

  • Still looking. Considering I paid $206 for the fridge I'm not paying $140 for the cover

    • I still haven't seen one go on sale yet even through the black friday sales. was hoping ebay might have given a 20% off or something. best I can hope for is to use my free $20 voucher on it.
