Is this the high yield OZB investment…..?

    • I regularly see people putting up ads of Teslas with ~2000km odo costing 5000$ more than brand new ones. What are they smoking!!

    Cheaper than used on carsales!

lol counter deal from Tesla facing challenges from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806224

    • Nah mate. Old inventory stock for the new release. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

  • Same price as an i30N now so we getting closer to performance/fun cars, government rebates need to do a tiny bit better or more charging infrastructure and it would be more worth it imo. But then again fuel is at an all time high.

    • Definitely agree more charging infrastructure would be better, but remember that for 99% of the time, you will charge it at home. Only a real benefit for when you do a road trip.

    • government rebates need to do a tiny bit better or more charging infrastructure

Yeah if only we could get someone else to pay for all the things we want, that'd be great…

How much is the subscription fee for a Tesla?

Is it monthly or yearly ???

    • +3

      $10 pm for car internet

      • -1

        What about seat heating?

        • +1

Included and you don't need a subscription for heating.

        • +1

          free of charge

        • @jv you talking about BMW who will charge sub for seat heating.

      • -2

        $10 pm for car internet

Looks like it will go up significantly to include sat nav after the free subscription finishes….

        • Nope, I am still paying $10 pm for the car internet

          • -1

@MauTauAja: Yes but I read they will start charging for SatNav too…

            • @jv: If anything they may pull destination routing from the free base layer and move it into the $10/m level I'd guess.

Right now you only pay if you want to have internet streaming in the car, and satellite IMAGERY, and traffic congestion displayed in your maps.

I don't pay the $10. navigation works fine, I prefer outline over photo maps anyway. I Bluetooth my audio ( audible mainly) so I didn't see the value in it. If you sit in your car a lot and want to watch netflix then sure maybe .. but you can also tether to your phone for internet (when parked).

              • @Elijha:

from the free base layer and move it into the $10/m level I'd guess.

                Yep, and increase the price…

Aren't they paying something the $99 per month in the US ???

                • @jv: nope

                • +1

@jv: That's for FSD which is the biggest grift in the history of tech.

It would get your family from B back to A as well

      • Yay, I'm doing the world a favour by having a 20 year-old Crummycore!!

      • +3

better for the environment to keep an existing car on the road

Shhh you're spoiling the biggest grift in history…

Environmentalism has moved on from Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, the new slogan is Replace! Replace! Replace! And preferably at the tax players expense.

Nothing says environmentalism like the biggest infrastructure replacement of the modern era.

    • The Sorento PHEV will get you in under LCT. (PHEV and EV have the same LCT cap of 89332).
Any EV under LCT also opens up the FBT component through novated leasing thanks to the fed gov.
This is why BMW just dropped the iX3 sport (89100) down 16k from the iX3 sport pro to take advantage of it.

  • the only reason i would buy a tesla or any electric car is for the self driving. hopefully ( probably already done) they put it in petrol cars to

    • Self driving for Tesla will NEVER eventuate. They can try all they want and have been crunching the numbers since 2015 now.

      I have spoken.

      • Self driving for Tesla will NEVER eventuate.

        Don't be so sure…

      • i dont even really mean the full self driving. whatever they have now is good enough for me. highway driving and stop start traffic will do. just put it in a petrol car lol

        • My toyota RAV4 2022 has that. I only paid 43.5k including tow bar. Even MG cheapo cars have lane keep etc. No need to pay 55k just for that.

          • @Naigrabzo: Lane keep is more dangerous than anything. Especially in suburbia

            • @WhyAmICommenting: Lane keep is not designed for suburbia. Motorway only.

I have test driven the model Y and 3 for one hour each. The lane keep is comparable to Toyota tech.

I hear the auto wiper and auto lights are atrocious in Tesla. The latter is also bad in Toyota.

Do these M3 have Matrix LED head lights??

              • @Naigrabzo: My car (Kia) does lane keeping at 50+ and I have to turn it off every local trip - so annoying

                • +1

@WhyAmICommenting: That's just annoying. Poor design. In toyota you have to turn ON each trip.

In Europe the powers be have brought a law that forces car companies to have speed beeps that need to be cancelled for each trip!

Pretty sure that on the M3, I had to pull stalk twice to active lane keep. The beeps in the Teslas are so soothing as well.

  • whats everyone paying for insurance on these? also any problems with home insurance if they find out you are keeping one in the garage?

    • paying $1,150.00 insurance + $500+ for rego in WA

no problem with home insurance (same company with the car)

      • Is that more expensive than it should be? Or it is on par?

    • This is a good question if there is a battery fire etc. I strongly suggest you ask your insurer or read ALL the fine print. Remember the home insurance chicken egg scandal?

  • +9

the new one is way nicer, if you are spending that much might as well wait a few months and spend a few k extra, its a big upgrade in style and extra stuff on the inside

    • And lose the stalk and ultrasonic sensors.

      • I think the ultrasonic is already gone

        • on the new one its gone because the system uses cameras to do that task now, the review i watched yesterday said it does not work to well unfortunatly but im sure there will be some software updates to make it work better in the future

          • @Roe Jogan: If I'm not mistaken, I think it's also missing on the current model too

          • @Roe Jogan: Sadly it'll be very difficult for cameras alone to be as reliable as ultrasonic sensors when determining depth.

  • +3

This is the old model so it’s outdated and not desirable

    • +2

And ugly as sin, new model looks way better

    • If you're willing to pay $10k extra, yes.

    • +1

Worth 10k less though. You get free steering wheel stalks.

  • Good price, wonder when will model 2 arrive on australia. The budget tesla

    • +1

Straight after the first delivery of Cybertruck in Australia.

      • cybertruck has been confirmed not to be coming to aus. which sucks

        • That's when model 2 will ariive. :) HAHAHA.

          • @Naigrabzo: i think that we wont see that until 2030

            • @Roe Jogan: Haha. It's like the hyperloop and Mars settlement. Musk loves high risk projects. Most don't pan out and some do.

              • @Naigrabzo: remember the roadster with 1.9 sec 0 to 100 and 150k price tag? good times

                • @Roe Jogan: Fair call. One needs to aim high.

Get a Rimac Nivera and it will do 1.9s but it is about 2mil.

Or that Owl car but it will prob be 10mil given only 50 were produced.

Anyone know why when you select WA it says there is nothing available? Do they not deliver to WA? The rest of the stock seems standard for vic/sa/nsw…

    • There’s been no 3s for a few weeks now in WA. Still plenty of Ys though. I wonder if they’ll have any more in or if that’s it until the new model arrives?

    • Do they not deliver to WA?

You could drive it back but it would take you 6 months…

  • +1

    Bought 2, Thank you

  • Convenient timing with today's high court win for Vic EV owners. Although it might mean the Federal Government has to move to impose a national tax.

    • …. A federal tax might not be unconstitutional like the state tax has been judged.

One wonders if we can all get rego refunds; as that might be a levy too?

    • Convenient timing with today's high court win for Vic EV owners.

What a complete debacle this is turning out to be. The gov is offering subsides for expensive cars, then at the same time unable to charge user charges so the taxpayer gets stung twice while the upper classes get a free ride at everyone else's expense. In what world did this sound like a good idea?

  • Does the $55k one do the fully autonomous driving

    • +4

FSD is not free on any of the models. It's an add on that you can purchase any time. FSD hasn't been rolled out in Australia yet, and is not worth it at this point in time. In saying that, Tesla have recently hired several FSD testers across Australia which indicates that they are working on releasing it here.

    • +3

None of them do. FSD is the best grift of the century. Save your 11k.

Does anyone own a tesla and rent in an apartment whereby home overnight charging is not an option.
Relying purely on charging stations in the sydney metro areas. Is it a pain in the a** and not worth it overall

    • There are some new products being developed for apartments: Large battery that trickle charges but provides fast DC charge to the car. This will probably be the future for apartments that don't have electrical infrastructure for everyone to have their own charger in each space. Even if you're a renter, it's worth starting to raise your need to body corporate so it's on the agenda for future upgrades.

    • +2

Yes, 2+ years with a Tesla and had no issues charging in Metro Syd. Live in an apartment and exclusively use public charging.

    • +2

Factor in time wasted with thinking about, planning and actually charging using public chargers. Then you can see whether it's worth it for you. Personally I would just get a Hybrid until you get your own charging spot. Money saved can be put toward funding your next purchase; your own garage.

      • What hybrids would you be looking at?
