Kreg Classic 2" Face Clamp with Pocket Hole Jig $49 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Sydney Tools

560

Saw a video from Sydney Tools about this promo. Decent price for a Kreg jig plus a free face clamp. In my opinion, the discontinued K4 is far superior. But the price is well worth it even just for the drill bit and the face clamp.

  • I'm confused, is this some kind of bondage device?

      For woodworking

    • Yes, to assist with bondage of faces to each other

This is the 1st time I've learned about pocket holes.

    • wait until you hear about a wallet hole

    • Damnit!

    • Doesn’t look like that has the clamp

      • Clamp is worth 30$+ too

    • Yeah dang, I got this one too :(

Well that's a cool little contraption but I'll never use it, nice post OP!

  • Very cool!! Never knew it was called a pocket hole.

Too expensive. I bought similar items that do the job from Aliexpress. Very happy with them, especially because I got more tech and equipment for the fraction of the costs. If you’re not in a hurry, you can get the items and more separately.

    • Can you link which one you got?

  • Aye, they're pricey… but only because of the branding. I don't have experience with these jigs so can't comment on their quality vs aliexpress.

It’s like I’ve pirated it to see if it’s any good, and now the original is part of the steam spring sale, kinda feel like paying for it.

From my experience so far, woodwork is all about clamps. If you got good clamps, every other tool would eventually work, or you find a way to work around them.

      • any recommendations for clamps? I've been meaning to upgrade

        • +2

I’m mostly using the cheapo craftright ones, takes forever to undo. Tried those upsized laundry clamps, takes less time to undo but too much effort to put on. Tried some corner clamps from eBay, great concept but broke within the week. I saw some pipe clamps on yt that looked pretty good. So you attach the clamp parts to a pipe, which means they can be whatever length your pipe is. This is presumably one of those. I’ve not used these but they are on my list.

I think fb market place is a good place to hunt for quality clamps. Lots of rusty ones just need a bit of a brush and clean.

I usually buy an F-clamp from supercheap whenever they give out $5/$10 credits

  • Thanks OP. I’ve got one!!!

  • Knew they done those magic drill hole and screw positions somehow - in an easy way. I grew up with a drill press and sandpaper lol. I'm more metal work than wood too although have not dabble for many years.

  • Damn this is good price. Already bought a couple different ones from eBay though. Do I want another set? 🥹

  • Good deal. For Kreg I have noticed a lot of money is in the clamps. But they’re damn good clamps.

    • What makes Kreg clamps better than others?

  • I have this kit. Is awesome

  • Thanks OP. got one

  • Thanks OP. Solid.

Any real DIY-er will know, buy once buy right.

  • Any dowel jig?

    • I just use my drill press and some dowel centres, havent found a dowel jig that is any better

I have the bigger beast here: https://sydneytools.com.au/product/kreg-krk4-pocket-hole-jig…

Its much easier to get accurate positioning with so you'll save the extra money in time on a big project. The screws are the biggest thing, you can get generic ones that are pretty good, but its a bit hit and miss.

    • I bought that one for $50 at bunnings…

    • yes, i'm waiting for a deal on the KR-K4
