  • Might get this. Not super upto date with laptops though. Would appreciate anyone's thoughts - mostly using for basic home office work and light single player gaming, not really AAA.

You'll be fine for those uses with this mate

OFFER is not listed on CR so won't get cashback

    • +5

Cashback is eligible on codes generated by Lenovo on its website, even though they may not be listed on Cashrewards, provided last click before purchase is from Cashrewards.

Just wanted to once again say thanks for all your posts on this stuff mate.
Finally pulled the trigger on a decked out Legion 7 Slim after 12 months of procrastination today 😂

        • Thanks for clarity! Didn't really understand that part.

        • :) always happy to help

elevated 15% CB as well. ends today so get in quick.

  • Tough luck if you wanted the 4070 (last deal was very good), but the 4060 version remains a good buy.

    • +3

You can add the 4070 for $349 on this deal, as well as 32gb RAM

      • Good spot. Works out to the same price as the last deal. They did have the 3 years on site warranty discounted to $80 last time though. Now it's back up to $202. So depends if people put in stock in that.

        • Yeah their website changes so much, I'm spewing the Legion 7 Slim with 4070 isn't on discount still as I want to pair it with the 15% cashback today. Alas only the 4060 ones are, so the waiting game continues for me

          • +1

@cook99: Grabbed the Pro 4070 in the last deal. It’s heavy, but it’s a beast.

      • Has the deal changed? It's now showing as $2139 and won't let me customize/change RAM etc.

        • Yup, changed now. Keep checking every few days, they always need with their sales.
You want one that says Build PC.
The Add to cart ones came be customised

  • How long do these take to ship?

    • +1

It normally indicates shipping time on the product page. Mine arrived in 9 days when I bought one a couple of months ago

    • +2

I ordered mine with customisation. Added ram and ssd. Took 3 weeks and received yesterday. It works like a charm

  • This one or Slim 5 for $160 less? at $1909. (I don't know much about the gaming laptops)

    • 100W (slim) vs 140W (Pro) GPU. Big difference in gaming I'd say.

      • +1

Theirs is actually almost no difference with high wattage with RTX 4050/4060/4070 laptops compared to lower wattage models.

Jarrod’s Tech explains all the details,
        https://youtu.be/jMMrh6PpLI4?si=sxC9lk-DhJh9uF9t

        • Thanks. So… Not much difference between slim and pro?

          • @superbass: Not sure about the 5, but the Legion 7 Slim performance is the same or slightly better than the pro.

            https://youtu.be/6CkIpzTrlEQ?feature=shared

I concluded that unless you're getting a 4080, you, don't need to get the Pro, and the Slim will perform the same.

  • I ordered this exact thing yesterday with the 3.5% cashback. Should I cancel and reorder to get the 15%, or is there a better way?

    • maybe cancel just to make thins simpler?

      • +2

I went ahead and cancelled. It's currently 'waiting to be shipped' so hopefully it hasn't left the distribution center yet and I can reorder by tonight. Fingers crossed.

        • Usually if it is not shipped you can cancel

          • @Raj09: Yup, it cancelled for me within a couple of hours. Placed a new order and saved an extra $600. Totally worth it.

            • @meowdog: Good man. I also got cash back but have to wait till Dec for approval. Fingers crossed

          • @Raj09: I read on their FAQS that you have to call to cancel and there is no cancellation after an order is placed.

Do they let you do this online or do you always have to call and pray they won’t charge the restocking fee etc?

            • @EBG: Try their chat. I did but could not get them to cancel mine at the time as they had shipped it

            • +1

@EBG: There was a button to cancel mine. I got lucky and it hadn't shipped yet, so maybe the option disappears once it's shipped?

  • 140W GPU seems decent!

    • If i'm not mistaken, the RTX 40 series laptop GPUs performance is limited by voltage set by Nvidia, meaning there won't be a massive performance increase between 100w and 140w GPUs

      • Does this mean it won't run as well as the RTX 30 series cards that don't have this limit?

        • +1

All NVIDIA GPUs since GTX 10 series are voltage locked at 1.093 V max. A few RTX 4090 GPUs got a voltage of 1.1V that was later revised down after launch. The voltage is locked on RTX 30 and 40 to the point where the wattage does not matter past a certain point. To be honest though DLSS 3 Frame Generation on the RTX 40 cards is worth while over buying a 3070 Ti notebook. It'll look way smoother and use less energy, but those are generated frames so it's only good for games already hitting 60+ FPS as the latency will be like 60 FPS but it will look like 110 FPS for instance.

        • There is some trade offs but the answer is sort of.
4070 runs the same as the 3070ti basically.
My understanding is the 4070 is doing it using less power, therefore less heat, and also has frame insertion.

  • What will be the best laptop or desktop to process photography with Photoshop & Lightroom?

    • Curious about this one as well

Not very good compared to this HP Deal under $1000 for similar specs:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/794528

    • +2

Wasn’t that a pricing error that was honoured for some? Not a realistic comparison IMO

      • +1

Yup, bulk cancellations on an error is in no way worth comparing too.
Every monitor deal since muzeebgate would be a total rip-off if this were the case

  • Is the 15% still active?
what if you add ram and SSD? would it still work?
    cheers guys

    • Not not active anymore.
Yes it works if you add stuff.

I upgraded CPI, RAM, Graphics card and got tracking 30 mins after order placed

      • How much is the final price of your rig? Did upgrade it to 4070?

        • +1

I did Legion Slim 7i, i9 CPU( mandatory for the 4070 on their build page), 32gb RAM, 4070.
Technically downgraded to the Space Grey (hate the white), but then upgraded to the per key RGB. Could have kept white laptop and saved $30, or downgrade to grey laptop with all white key lights and saved $80.
Total cost was $3240ish (2750 after cashback).

  • Ah i snooze i lose , missed out on the 15% cash back!!!

    • +1

Wait a week or so, they come back ranging from 10-15%

  • How long does it take for the cashback to be recognised? I bought it but no notification yet in the app

    • Mine took approximately 15mins

    • Just checked mine, precisely 8 minutes.

Felt like 30 though as I stated that above haha

      • ah gotcha thanks i bought another laptop but its been a day and no cashback notified…. ill submit a ticket haha

        • +1

          Good luck!

  • Very interested… how's the construction? Sturdy enough for a "budget" gaming laptop?

I'm thinking of getting Asus TUF at same price but spec'd are lower (4050/fhd/etc…)
