  • This or eneloops?

if you have majority of enelops then better always get eneloops.
lately i found few devices using 3x AA, so annoying and it is not good to mix and match

Worth using Alkaline for some things. When I use rechargeable on my cat feeder it flashes constantly, the whole screen, can barely see what's going on when setting the times. With alkaline the low battery indicator actually works, which is meant to be a year after putting in freshies. With rechargeable it flashes instantly.

    These are only 1.2V

    • +2

Eneloops are as well I think

    • +3

All rechargeable batteries are 1.2V. But the argument is that rechargeables are stable at 1.2V longer then a normal batter is between 1.5-1.2V. Some devices are unhappy running at 1.2V but most are fine with it.

        All rechargeable batteries are 1.2V.

        Not true…

        • You showed to a link to a product on Amazon.

I showed a link to another similar link to another similar non-1.2V rechargeable battery on Amazon and it was immediately deleted as "spam links in comments are not allowed".

          Oh, to be jv.

@GordonD: You posted a referral link which is against the posting rules.

            I didn't

            Oh, to be GordonD.

    • no way - are they on sale? that's pretty good for readily accessible in store pick up
IKEA is too far from me

    • +2

Yeah but who wants to go to tradie mecca when amazon will deliver to your home.

  • Eneloop smart charger any good for these?

    • +1

      Would be fine.

  • Can these be charged with Panasonic charger? Seem to have misplaced the energiser one I had
Edit: nvm the Panasonic charger was found to be with these Energizer ones as last charged ones. Both are NiMh so guess they are ok
Come to think of it I may have never had an energiser charger - my mind is playing tricks on me

  • Are these low-self-discharge like the Eneloop's are?

    • Doesn't look like it, says holds charge for up to 1 year. Which I'm assuming means empty after 1 year?

Eneloops are something like 70% charge for up to 10 years? And pros are 85% charge for up to 1 year.

      • Thought so. Thanks for the info.

      • Choice magazine rated the Pros less than the regulars for both charge retention and capacity. How seriously should I take their testing ?

        • Pros definitely have the higher capacity from my experience (standard AA Eneloop ~2100mah vs Pros ~2300-2400mah) although the trade off is slightly higher discharge.

          • @4foxache: You mean discharge in storage ? Or on device ?

            • +1

@y2k: Based on my intelligent chargers and how much charge it reports went into the batteries before full.

Also on sale on eBay (and those buy more for less specials). https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/324186690270

  • Is Ozbargain still recommending Eneloop chargers? Because I need a charger.

    • +1

Yes but Eneloop unfortunately make some dumb chargers which can have a negative impact on the longevity of the batteries. Google the model number of the charger you see on sale to see if it's a smart charger or not.

      • +1

Ok thank you for that info I will make sure to get a smart eneloop charger.
