  • any thoughts on this ???

    • Unless you desperately need something and don't want to pay about 1K for something decent, otherwise not sure why you would buy something 4 - 5 gen old, used, 70% battery health.

      • run as a chromebook?

        • this is way more than enough to run full win10/11 and then some

      • +1

not sure why you would buy something 4 - 5 gen old

Actually not that much of a problem because CPU is pretty fast for office and play back media. With integrated graphics nobody is gaming on this or doing anything graphics intensive.

        • Yes it 100% is enough for something like that, which is why I said when you desperately need something and don't want to pay bit more it's fine. However you'll basically have no warranty with manufacturer, battery is at 70% health according to seller. The device being as old as it is, isn't going to perform as it was brand new.

So yeah you're getting a device that can definitely get by for light work, but nothing future proof, while spending 1/3 cost for a brand new device with much better spec.

          • @Tbargain12: I just got a very good refurb off Australian Computer Traders. 93% battery. Not all of them suck.

Checked it is a 2019 i5-8365U powered on 260 times and did about 8 hours a day each time (SSD run time divided by 7.5) 8GB with an extra slot. Cheaper than the one here. Not touch screen and not flip.

There is Dell Latitude 5300 convertible in very good condition refurbs knocking about for same price as this (no thunderbolt, it was an option) with extra ram slot

            • @netjock: How did you check SSD runtime?

            • @netjock: Yep definitely, sounds like you got a good one. I'm sure through a reputable store it'll be fine in most cases. There's definitely a market for these, especially for those who are less fortunate and on a tight budget.

        • this will run Rimworld perfectly, so gaming is covered ;-)

"around 70%" is concerning. I'd be looking for 12-month warranty and 80% guaranteed. Soldered RAM, so be sure 8GB is enough.
At least you can change the battery easily, unlike the Surface which is glued.

Nice laptop though. Runs Windows 11 well. Age is not an issue except for the battery.

soldered ram= ewaste. what a shame.

  • Don't do soldered ram

  • No SD card slot?

  • @Skymstr How can I connect my HP Elitebook X360 830 G6 to Ethernet (internet)? Do I need to buy any USB C to RJ45 adapter? Please recommend which specific one?
