Are they owned by westpac now? Every deal seem to be a westpac exclusive.

    • +6

      westpack bought shopback
      anz bought cashrewards

cba tried some garbage other one but failed miserably.

Westpac has made a strategic investment of US$30m in ShopBack so I guess if you love shopback deals, get a Westpac account :-) We refinanced our home through Westpac via Refinancer who posted a cashback deal on here last year, so it worked nicely to already have an account when all this Westpac goodness started.

    • +1

Yep. They suck now. I've been waiting 100 days for a simple cash back transaction. I won't be bothering anymore.

  • +6

0% categories are going to kill this

    • +4

Lets hope Jack Daniels sells computer ram because I need to buy some

  • +1

    Westpac 4 life

    • +5

      I miss Compaq.

  • +8

It's so hard to care about extra Amazon cashback when it covers all of about 10 categories lol.

Edit: I'll take that back a little, seems they have a few more available now. Still many 0% though

    • +1

So bonus cashback doesn't usually work on the 0% categories? I would've thought that instead of 0% you would get 10%?

      • +3

That's right yeah, unless otherwise specified, this is only 10% cashback provided the category is already over 0%. Any category 0% wont be paid out, if it even tracks. Pretty sure shopback has before made all categories over 0%, but I think that is on them then, not Amazon, so we may get lucky but I'd say not.

  • Is St George CC eligible ? Seems they are partners or via same CC.

    • No

  • +5

westpac should open their wallet and fix shopback tracking issues

    • +1

Westpac and Shopback DGAF about anything except amassing huge datasets of shopping behaviours and spending of their customers.

Accurate tracking is about 153rd on their list of priorities.

  • Have over $4500 earned Cashback, most of the stuff tracks well but occasionally there’s one big one that doesn’t track, you lose track of time and the 30 day period to flag a missed cashback passes…

    • +7

Doesn't matter if you flag it anyway you'll just get the template "merchant rejected cashback".

  • Hanging out for 7% (plus 5%) for Amazon Devices and hoping for a good Kindle Scribe deal tomorrow.

  • +3

Looks like it's bee updated to 10%

    That should create a buzz!

  • Thanks.

  • +2

    Price match with topcashback

  • All the useful categories will be 0% tho. So hard to get excited about this one.

  • +3

Hard to care about Shopback anymore since I'm not with Westpac. Pretty much only using them for cheaper gift cards now.

  • +2

The constant Westpac only deals have killed shopback for me, I struggle to invest if I'm missing out on more due to no Westpac ac, wonder if it is working for them

  • +5

Anyone else find it rather… disconcerting that you can only use a 6-character password for Westpac… with NO special characters??

Might be acceptable with proper 2FA, but you can't even use the inferior SMS 2FA when logging in to verify it's actually you.

      • Troy makes great points on both sides as always, but trusting the bank to do the right thing (i.e. security through obscurity) does not give me confidence.

Banks are not there to protect my funds, they are there to make shareholders money and 'consumer protection' is a means to an end.

    • +1

They've updated that recently. Now its 8 characters minimum

      • You may thank me for complaining

Tho I'm sure I'm not the only one

      • Still 6 characters max. Tried on the app and website.

  • All categories ? pls ??

  • -1

How is this going to Work if I have Amazon credits and I'm not actually going to use my westpac card?

  • Is it per transaction?

  • -1

    Does this start at midnight?

  • Does it count if you use westpac cc via paypal/apple pay? Or it has to be directly entering cc detail on payment page?

    • +2

Directly with the Westpac Card, and I believe you also have to have the card added to shopback

  • Looks like all categories are at least 0.7% now, nice.

  • Is it live now?

  • Happy to be wrong about before, all categories are a go!

  • +2

Just to reconfirm, just need to pay at least partly with Westpac card right (eg like eBay, using part GC and Westpac combo)?

    • +3

      💯

  • +2

Can you use gift cards to gain additional 1.75%? and say a couple dollars on Westpac? Would that give the 10% bonus on the full purchase?

  • Does this apply over multiple transactions?

    • +1

If it does NOT say per member in the T&C then always assume its per transaction. So go nuts over however many.

  • Does it only apply to Prime items in the Big Deals Day section?

  • App says per purchase for $20 cap, but website I can't find anything. Can anyone confirm it is per purchase?

    • Read above from noelhoi.

      It is per tx.

  • -1

Nice bonus, but wish it was on the 10th and not the 11th.

    • I might be missing something but where does it say it’s on the 11th and not the 10th?

      • On this post, it said "Tomorrow" about 9 hours ago.

It is now showing a 9 PM expiry.

But I can't see any dates/times in my app.

    • +2

Shopback app says to complete between 10 Oct 2023 12:00 am AEST - 10 Oct 2023 11:59 AEST
It'll be expired on the 11th

      • I can see the banner in my app, but when I click on it, it doesn't show it in the Westpac list. No dates/times showing either.

  • Do westpac bonuses only track via the app or can you also use a web browser?

    • +1

Afaik what counts is using the same Westpac card as the one linked to your ShopBack account.

  • +4

If you're intending on using Amazon gift card/s and charging a few bucks to the Westpac card then make sure that you don't add another Amazon gift card until the Westpac card is charged (ie the order is confirmed and not pending).

Otherwise Amazon might deduct the Westpac card amount from the Amazon gift card balance. Just happened to me and fortunately was able to cancel it right before it was about to be shipped.

    • +1

Is that confirmed as in shipped? I don't think orders are paid for until shipping.

      • Confirmed as in it's not pending. I think if you used a gift card you can go to your gift card balance page and it should show whether an order is still pending. Going to have to check that from hereon for these Westpac deals.

    • +1

So do you mean you made a purchase leaving say $2 for Westpac. Then after the purchase you added a gift card to your account, but then Amazon also used that new gift card in the purchase? Which negated the Westpac charge?

      • +1

Yup I added a $30 gift card an hour or so later to purchase something else and a few minutes later when I went to pay for it realised that the gift card balance was off. I guess the order had been pending and was processed sometime after I added the gift card. I wasn't aware they do that but you learn something new every day.

        • +1

I wasn't aware they did that either, but good to known. Thought they would just take funds as it is on the payment page, not re-adjust later on.

Wonder if it's better then to just add the gift cards on the payment page, rather than adding them to the account.

          • @pixxelpusher: Yeah that would be the way to go as long as the gift card balance leftover is less than the amount charged to the card.

    • thanks, i just caught one as well.

i added a gift card on the balance page. did you add the gift card on the payment page or the gift card balance page too?

    • Crap this just happened to me, couldn't cancel… there goes $6

      • did you add the gift card on the payment page or the gift card balance page

        • Added it to my balance, as I was buying other things.
I had $5 left over in gift card, which they used on my $60 order which I was $5 short which was meant to go to CC.

Tried to cancel but it didn't let me. $6 binned.

  • Asked above, but can anyone confirm this is for items on Amazon sitewide? Not just items in the "Prime Big Day Deals" section?

    • +1

You're good as long as the regular CB is eligible, right now I believe it's all categories except for Kindle stuff.

      • Thanks, it's a bit unclear in the promo graphic that's all

        • It's a little clearer in the app, says per transaction and ending tonight.

  • -1

Do you have to have the tracking enabled as well as make the purchase with the eligible Credit Card?

Say i make a purchase from Amazon, but didn't click through from Shopback? However, the card i make the purchase on is already linked?

  • Completed an order via app about 12 hours ago but ShopBack still hasn't acknowledged the Cashback tracking.. Anyone know if it could take longer?

    • Most of the time it takes a day or two from my experience.

  • So I know cashback works on pre orders, but I've never done a Westpac one where the card won't be charged until it stops. Any one have any experience?

  • Is subscribe eligible?

  • per transaction or per account ?

  • +1

    Did anyone's track?

    • +1

      Nope not yet

      • I bought some stuff off Amazon a week ago and it's stuck on calculating too -.- @gotyourback is there a fix?

  • +1

Just read that if items are already added to your cart before you click through Shopback to go to Amazon that it won't track. Is this still the case?

    • +1

Yep, always has been. Amazon associate the sale when the item is added to the cart.

Always, always, always have an empty cart before clicking through any cashback program

      • Ah bummer, I had about 5+ items totalling around $200 already loaded. Now I know for next time.

  • Got tracked last night. But doesn’t looks like 1%+10 % bonus cash back after removing gst.
    More like 8.7% for me.
