Outstanding pizza oven if electric is part of your criteria.

I'm fairly sure this is the cheapest it has ever been on Amazon, and perhaps all time low on OzB?

For anyone playing at home, you don't buy a pizza oven to save money.

In my opinion, it's purpose is to allow you to make good/great pizzas without skimping on quality ingredients.

    • +4

It’s absolutely an “if you know, you know” purchase

    • +4

But why is it so expensive?

      • +2

It generates high enough heat (close to 500°C) to do proper neopolitana pizza. Most ovens are only 250-350°C

        • +4

You'd be surprised how good a pizza can turn out in a well sealed standard oven running flat out.

The only thing you need to be aware of is that the circulation of air in some ovens makes certain spots not consistent so pizzas require a quick turn. But you get that in a rocbox, gozney anyway.

This oven looks great if you have a big solar set up!

        • This is another comment among Breville Pizzaiolo deals claiming it reaches 500.

It doesn't, it's "up to 400 degrees" and yes, it does make difference.

It would be much great(er) machine and a greater deal if it could pull 500.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Watch the reviews of these things. Because there isn't airflow, you don't need 500c. It'll take a minute or two longer, but requires no spinning. In a rocbox etc it can burn very easy, needs constant turning etc. BUT there is no warm up time between pizzas. So if doing multiple pizzas with another person who makes them while you cook, rocbox is better. But if single cooker/maker electric is fine.

            • @serpserpserp: I get it, yet it's still not 500 degrees.

Also, does Pizzaiolo sustain 400 degrees or does it switch off for sometime once it reaches it and then switches the heaters back? That's what cheaper electric devices do.

Might not be the best to compare, because of different device quality, but I use Hizo E12 and there's no airflow either. I need to wait 15 mins between pizzas, because it turns off the heaters often. You need to find the best moment to launch the pizza.

    • Totally agree. Bought a gozney roccbox in August when they had 20% off. Said to the wife we will save money on pizza… but no we spend a lot now on quality ingredients, but wow is worth it. If i didn't buy that one then this deal would have been an option.

      • +1

The roccbox is great. I had one but really wanted something bigger so bought a Dome.

  • -4

    Oven?

  • Unlike most pizza ovens, this isn’t just full of hot air

I've been thinking of buying this for so long, and would have pulled the trigger at this price - if not for this Cozze electric pizza oven recently being introduced. It takes on a near identical form factor of the gas-powered Ooni ovens, has a wider 13" square stone (vs a 12" round stone on the Breville) meaning its easier to get the pizzas in and you can cook larger pizzas in the Cozze, it has three heating elements just like the Breville, can reach the same temperatures, heats up at the same rate and can produce results that are just as good except at a significantly lower price, even at full RRP. Based on my reserach the Cozze tends to go on sale fairly frequently for $50-100 less in other markets, I anticipate and have been waiting for the same to happen here.

They both come with a 2 year warranty, although the Breville seems to have a few comments of it failing well within the 2 years, the Cozze hasn't had enough time to tell yet. Concerningly, I've also seen similar comments about fires starting inside the Breville - as seen here.

Beyond that, Cuisinart has just released this comparable electric pizza oven at US$399 - if/when it hits Australia it will likely clock in at around A$650 retail, before the inevitable sales. It may be a sign of more competitively priced, high power electric pizza ovens to come - which may also explain the steep discounting of the Breville. We've already seen a similar trajectory with gas powered ovens, with the likes of the $299 Aristo oven being just as good as the $650 Ooni Koda - I'm hoping this means the same for electric ovens!

    • +2

      Do you mean this?

      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/cuisinart-pizzeria-pro-pizza-…

I was pondering about getting it today

      • That's exactly the one - and wow, what a wild price, significantly lower than what I was expecting! I didn't realise it had launched in Australia yet, thanks for letting me know! Seems like an even better deal than the Cozze, going to try and read up on it! Comes with a three year warranty vs the two on the Cozze, the Ooni and the Breville. Really wish I had stocked up on those Ultimate Giftcards…

        • A Reddit post says cozze is rated for outdoor use (tho it can be used indoors). The cuisinart seems to have a lower top end for temperature.

          • @pressureftw: When I looked at it in store, I think the breville could go to 400C while this could go to 380C. But the ovens door is way more user friendly on the breville and the overall appliance felt a bit more cheaply made on the cusinart

        • Please keep us updated, I start to outgrow my master pro and could take some insight in what to get next

          • +2

@Bubbleshark: Ha! I'm in exactly the same boat - looking to upgrade from the Master Pro. It has been an excellent introduction and made me fall in love with making pizza (which has now become a weekly activity) but I've very much hit its limits. For anyone curious, here's where I've managed to get to with the MasterPro.

Truly unbeatable at under $100 on sale.

Will let you know how I go!

            • @poppingtags: Well hasn't this further option thrown my decidophobia into overdrive?

              Cuisinart vs Hizo e12?

              • @lbreav: The Hizo seems to be rated for outdoor use, the website states:

"If you are looking to install this into your kitchen, you will need to clad the area with fireproof bricks/sheets."

That alone takes it out of the running for me, although the Cuisinart is certainly looking strong!

            • @poppingtags: That's impressive with the masterpro! Can you share what flour you use and the recipe for your dough? Trying to improve my game :)

              • +1

@alescorpio: Thanks, its been fun! I use whatever double zero flour I can buy from the supermarket, it really does make a noticeable difference in terms of how easy the dough is to work with. That pizza was made using Roberta's dough recipe, except instead of going 50/50 with regular flour and double zero - I only use double zero.

                • @poppingtags: Thanks!

                  • +1

@alescorpio: I usually give it about 1.5-2 minutes in the MasterPro at full power, before turning the pizza around and giving it another 1.5-2 minutes to make sure that it's being baked evenly. Enjoy!

      • Very keen to hear more what results you can get with the Cozze and the Cuisinart.
The only advantage of the breville from what I have read is it is easier to control the pizza not burning.

Looks like temp range for Cuisinart is lower at Temperature range 350°F-700°F (370 degrees cel)

      • +2

Cuisinart is $303 on TGG Commercial for members

        • I spotted that too! Unfortunately, seem to be running into an error when adding to cart though?

          • @poppingtags: If either of you sort this out, let me know. I'd be happy to nab it at that price

            Thanks!

            • @lbreav: Are you getting the same error? Might give them a ring tomorrow morning and see what they can do.

            • @lbreav: I went in store, showed the employee TGG on my phone and asked to price match. Then used my $20 storecash at checkout for $283.

              • +1

@Terra Australis: Nice, I've heard mixed results of trying to price match TGGC in store. Let us know how you find it :)

                • @poppingtags: I’ve seen the variability myself - depends on who you get. Got lucky first try today. Will do, thanks.

                  • +1

@Terra Australis: Decided to give it a go and lucked out too, price matched without any hassle - used discounted GCs to bring down the price to $290! Unfortunately didn't have time to get the dough going today, will make some tomorrow, give it 24 hours to ferment and then hopefully the best pizzas I've ever made on Wednesday.

      • $303 if you have access to the Good Guys Commercial site!
        https://www.thegoodguyscommercial.com.au/en/b2bauonline/cuis…

        • Can you add to cart though? It's giving me an error at the moment?

          • @poppingtags: You’re right! Just tried to add to cart and got an error too…

    • Has anyone else looked over the electric Ninja pizza oven ($US399)? Has a feature where you can use woodfire pellets.
Not officially in Australia that I'm aware of, but can be had through AmazonUS

      • +1

I am aware of it - but as far as I know, it is also technically rated for outdoor use. I also wouldn't buy it unless it was available in Australia (I'm pretty sure American kitchen appliances don't work here without a bulky converter).

      • 120V AC in US..

      • You really don't get a ton of flavour from wood pellets because the pizza is only in the oven for 2-3 minutes.

    • Cozzie black is at $312 currently at Amazon but it’s the gas version - any good as compared to electric ?

      • It should be - but there are cheaper gas options available like the Aristo

Coles even had one a few years ago that went on sale for as low as a $120!

  • +9

People looking for a cheaper option should check out the kegland hizo e12. I have one and no regrets.

    https://www.kegland.com.au/products/hizo-e12-electric-pizza-…

    • Do you have any pictures of the pizzas you've made with it? I've been aware of the Hizo for a while now, but haven't been able to find many reviews of it.

    • Just curious, are there any electrical safety or RCM markings on the unit?

      • There's a few certificate numbers on the back, is that what you mean?

        • +1

Pretty much every device you have will have on it the Australian RCM logo which means it complies to various things (if its required to), one being electrical safey. It's basically the law…

          Electrical Safety

The RCM logo is next to the 'EESS' and the point 6 baiscally says what people who make/import/distribute these things should do. When the logo is there, it means they've made sure its safe to use, follows the Austrlalian standards. If its not there, well…it's questionable.

    • +1

Dude that looks sick. Nice reco

    • +1

I'll mention kegland were good with support. On delivery I found one of the heat bulbs had been smashed in transit. No noticeable damage to the box so I'm guessing it got dropped. Anyway sent them a picture and it was replaced no questions asked.

  • Following this thread with anticipation.

The Cozze 13" looks great (even at $550) - if it's likely to go on sale that would be a more attractive prospect.

Anyone got anything comparative to say about the Breville Pizzaiolo vs Kegland Hizo E12?

  • check comments in previous deals, including cheaper alternatives such as $200 HIZO E12, $99 MasterPro

    • The MasterPro is a great entry level pizza oven and it's exactly what I had before I got the Breville. The biggest issue with the MasterPro is it opens from the top and releases all the hot air. If you cook just one pizza you can nail it every time, but as soon as you want to make a few you hit an issue unless you're happy to wait quite a while for the oven to regain the heat it lost when you opened the lid.

In saying that, I was very impressed with how hot the MasterPro got for a $99 oven. Super impressive and it served its purpose for us, which was for me to figure out if I would actually stick to preparing homemade dough and making pizza regularly enough to justify spending a lot on a great oven.

  • +5

must be nice to live a life where $728 on an appliance for a singular thing, that you use intermittently, is a "no brainer"

      • +3

or maybe i could have perhaps 3 investment properties, thanks to the Liberals ideology, and squeeze every drop out of my fellow man struggling to pay rent, to buy stuff like this

just for clarity im one of the struggling ones in this context

but you enjoy your 1st world pizza oven

          • @illusion99: you could try not personally insulting me and basically calling me a neanderthal who is below you, for reference im a retired infantry soldier, medically retired, just so you know….so yeah getting that 2nd job your (seemingly) privileged little entitled ego suggests is unfortunately not an option.

and youre welcome for thanking me for my service…

            ass

            • -8

@amosmilburn: They were all your own words. Sensitive much? If you studied the world harder you would know how the system works and then you could choose to either work within it and exploit it or work around it to your advantage. Or you could choose to sit around and brag about how you fought for your country and how it’s gone to shit.

              • -1

                @illusion99: entitled, a lot?

                • -6

@amosmilburn: Yes sit around and complain some more instead of doing something to improve your lot in life

                  • -2

                    @illusion99: entitled, a lot?

if this countries gone to shit its due to attitudes like yours…expecting everything without giving anything

                    entitled muck

                    • -4

@amosmilburn: When did I say I expect everything? Maybe you should have studied more English comprehension

                  • -2

@illusion99: what would you have me do, magically heal something that cant be healed

oh, wait do they sell that on amazon?

how about you contribute to your country instead of sit back on your couch and take

                    ass

                    • @amosmilburn: Oh poor woe is me

                      • -4

@illusion99: and again, youre welcome for thanking me for my service

                        • -1

@amosmilburn: Finns beach club thanks you

                        • +13

@amosmilburn: illusion99 seems to post useless, tired, edgy comments all over OzB, pay him no mind and don't let him ruin your evening. He's a troll that's probably ignored a lot in real life, and deserves to be ignored here too.

You're absolutely right, times are tough and appliances like this are unfortunately a luxury that not many can enjoy. Thankfully, electric pizza oven prices do keep falling and you can also always make great pizza in a domestic oven - this recipe from Roberta's in particular does great in domestic ovens.

Thanks for your service, and I hope you have a nice weekend! :)

                          • +4

@poppingtags: thanks for the heads up and kind words, very much offset the earlier stuff. hope you have a great weekend. Believe it or not my original post (as many of mine are) were meant with a bit of cheeky humour, with a smidge of reality mixed in, id hate to be as sour as some people are, or think i am :)

i highly recommend the Della Rosa Low Carb High Protein Pizza Base from Woolies (no affiliation, though they are on special this week), if youre trying to be good on a keto diet, but still want to treat yourself :)

my little ALDI special Busy air fryer with pizza stone is still rocking after 3 years, and got used this very eve

cheers, and again, ave a great one yourself

    • +2

If you have a family and buy pizza once a fortnight, this thing pays for itself in less than a year. Also can confirm that making pizza with your kids is way more fun than ordering it.

      • +3

i like my pizza hot and fresh and to me that is worth a certain amount vs delivered pizza which has lost some heat and gone soggy. if you paying $20-$25 for a good pizza you want it hot and fresh which means eats at the restaurant and pay for wine list prices or make at home and drink at dans prices.

i have one of the breville clam shell pizza makers which has been going to over 8 years and used min once per week. the market has progressed and might be time to loom at new options.

    • Just because the deal isn't suited to you it doesn't make it a bad deal.

The fact it's outside your price bracket doesn't mean that other won't find value in the post.

This was a historically low price for the item which is evident by the 42 positive votes and no negs in the short time it was available.

      • -1

They didn't say it was a bad deal

    • Good to see a fellow member of the proletariat here. We are massively outnumbered. About 90% of OzBargainers are cashed up middle class people whohave money "burning a hole in their pocket" and are looking for things to spend it on.

  • +4

Bought this at DJs this week for $809 with gift cards. Made first pizzas tonight - really impressed. Have a large wood fired oven outside (4 hours to reach temp) which is only really feasible if making pizzas for 8+ ppl, and then a slow roast next day with the residual heat/coals. This oven is perfect for smaller gatherings/cooking for the fam - reaches temp in 20 minutes. Trying it tomorrow with some focaccia at lower temp (240-230 degrees)

    • +2

Please share your feedback and some pics after tomorrow's cooking.

    • Agreed, it’s a really good unit. Playing around with the deck and top settings really lifts the pizzas again. Have fun!

  • Says 4 only. I'm surprised it's lasted this long at this price.

  • -5

    Absolute rip off

  • Does Amazon have any cashback offers atm?

  • +1

For the record… i love pizza, had one earlier (i have 2 a week, high protein, low carbs), just i make mine in the oven style air fryer (with pizza stone) i got on a ALDI special buys, 3 years ago… for $120

  • I'm more impressed where people store these or find the room in their kitchen for it

I've been tempted by these in the past but feels like a lot more competition is coming to the space now plus if you've got somewhere outdoor to run it the gas/pellet outdoor ones seem the better way to go.

    • I would have thought that these be kept in the shed, ready for the outdoor pizza making experience

      • The benefit of this over the gas ones is that it is designed to go in the kitchen.

You want the outdoor experience this isn't for you.

        • Just get a kegland instead.

    • I won mine in a competition, the toaster now has to sit on top as it is a really big unit

      • Grats mate and that sounds like a clever way to make room for everything :)

  • There was a Aldi special buy one for $200 last week - wonder how this one is better

  • For the outdoor types:
Bunnings have a Jumbuck Gas outdoor 12" for $199 and Cozze 13" Gas for $332 -both have "New" tabs against them.

and Appliances Online have the same Cozze 13" Gas $342 includes delivery.

The Jumbuck seems to get good reviews on the Bunnings site.

I wonder what the difference in the cooking technique and result is between the gas fired open type and the electric ovens type with door and normal convection is (Breville , Cuisinart) ? I presumed the closed electric oven type ones require less or no turning? The HIZO E12 is a fan forced so no turning is required.

Summer is looking like Pizzas and Beer this year.
