They’ll be gone before the flash sale starts

      • I will happily eat humble pie on being wrong on that one aha

  • +2

I really somehow find this interesting when was eBay cashback 225% ?? LoL I think they forgot to put " . " in between.
Good deal this one tho but sadly I am broke, aint got money to spend 😢

  • Okay, I have a really noob question, please bear with me. So I have the $3 Bonus Cashback offer, and the Westpac 15% off thing. Say I'm buying a $60 thingo at 5pm, is the final price I pay 60 x 0.85 x 0.85 - 3? Thanks 🙏

    • -1

Westpac starts from now till midnight. Only the ebay one is 4pm - 10pm.

    • It's more like 60 x 0.7 - 3 which is even better - both 15% cashbacks track at the original price, rather than sequentially

  • Any limit in number of transactions?

    • Shouldn't be, same as the past.

Standard Cashback [Capped at $20, Valid for All Orders Placed Between 4PM and 10PM AEST]

  • Knew I should have held off buying something last week. Could have easily gotten it for 45% off with stacks now.

      • +1

$3 challenge + $5 challenge + 30%. It’s actually 54% off on my recent $33 spend. Around 40% without the 15% reg eBay to claim the $5 to ensure I get it. Ofcourse haven’t include the extra % with giftcards from recent $2 for $20 and $3 for $30.

  • +3

I don’t use ShopBack much due to issues tracking, paid etc. With promo codes, does this mean if use eBay codes for $ off spend or percentage off this voids the ShopBack?

    • +1

      Yes.

eBay SB tracking has been very reliable for me, if it has been a bad experience for you in the past though maybe don't bother.

      • The app is better with tracking, maybe I will use that instead. But i was going to use an ebay redemption code, which would knock out the shopback then.

  • +1

I find these offers bit awkward, it makes no sense to have any % offer if it is simply capped with some low value

    • +1

Strangely, some things can be purchased for cashback rates lower than the cap

    • +3

You do know that the merchant is carving out their real revenue to support cashback right…. the cashback doesnt just come out from thin air.

For someone to win, someone else has to lose. If you were a merchant would you cap your marketing spend?

      • Im not against the offer or the merchant, just that this capping mechanism. If I were a merchant, I would either offer a good uncapped discount or not offer anything at all. It's more of a business tactics to have capped discounts. I'm not saying it's bad but it's more of a small discount wrapped in a big wrapper!

        • -1

I think they use this seemingly attractive large cashback percentage to attract the crowd, wishing people spend more than $147, which is clearly what a seasoned ozbargainer like you would not do 🤣

    • Sure it does, you just gotta know the incentives behind it

Just imagine you're an executive at Westpac, and in order to get your bonus you have to achieve certain targets.

  • +1

"As of 28th October 2019, Any purchases made with the use of Coupon / Voucher Codes are not eligible for Cashback (unless otherwise stated) and will track at $0.00" - does this mean this does not stack with ebay gift cards?

    • +2

Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method

gcs are exempt from that rule

      • +1

I note eBay have been cancelling orders without reason. Often happens during an increased cashback promo. They send out some email with the phony claim that payment was unsuccessful. Most recently paid for with eBay gift cards. Moreover, days later when they finally credited the gift cards back to the account, each one was short of the original amount, which leaves us feeling scammed by eBay itself. Not honouring their own gift cards, then keeping partial amounts. Not a winning start to feeling confidently safe buying online.

        • eBay has stricter than usual anti-money laundering policies that restrict gift card use.

Have you used over $2000 in a day, or $5000 worth in a month? That's the limits.

          • @BradH13: No, spend was within those limits. Even if there was a fault they made, or some reason, it doesn't make sense to short change a customer and only partially refund the original amount of gift card balances.

        • +1

That happened to me with failed giftcard payment, it was a foreign order I just put the difference down to changing currency rates, contacted support and they fixed it up straight away.

          • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Yes, in this case it could be the currency conversion. However a recent separate cross currency order which was cancelled after a month of non delivery, was refunded with the full amount restored to the gift cards. This means they are profiteering of currency exchange on your gift card, whilst appearing to cancel the order without grounds if the currency swings their way. The fact that you have contacted them and they corrected your refund, as they would have with many others, makes it appear they may be knowingly proceeding in profiteering on short changing customers on these order cancellations.

At least 1c must be paid with a Westpac card to attribute the transaction up them if you're looking to cash in on the 15% bonus

      • Are you saying if as long as you use the Westpac card as part payment, the 15% bonus will apply to the full amount?

So say item was $100 and I used $99 eBay gift card and $1 Westpac card to pay, the 15% Westpac bonus is still on the $100 and not on the $1?

        • +2

I had the exact question last time but I paid 20c on a $200 order, rest was on gift card, and my Westpac bonus tracked for the full $200 amount

  • +14

    To maximize discount:
$146.67 incl. GST (or $133.33 excl. GST) Spend on any one transaction paid via GC+Westpac

    PT yeah?

    • Should be, same as the past.

Standard Cashback [Capped at $20, Valid for All Orders Placed Between 4PM and 10PM AEST]

  • can i use ebay gift card for major of the payment, then use westpac card for the rest $1-2?

    • Yes, confirmed

  • What to buy what to buy

  • Sorry a little confused
    1. The Westpac Cashback is activated just by using the card ?
    2. The eBay cashback-
if I have a separate code eg.$10 code as an eBay plus customer, if I use it does it mean I am ineligible for the cashback?

Also I can’t only pay one seller if I have multiple items in my cart , I need to checkout the entire cart to qualify for the cashback ?

    • +1
      1. Yes, for at least 1c of the purchase (cashback will be calculated on the entries purchase)
      2. If you use a code (other than gift cards), all cashback will be voided

You can checkout all sellers at once, they’ll track individually

  • 15% off all ebay stores?

    • I don't see why not?

The only exclusions I see are Charity and non-profit items, eBay Plus membership & Travel; Auctions and best offer accepted prices; and the use of unlisted coupons.

  • Not great when you cannot use a coupon. Better stick with it

    • +1

Lol not great? U kidden? 30% off plus gift cards lmao

      • Oh really? True. I had Westpac card thrown in a drawer here lol. Oh yeah, GC as well. Last deal for GC including eBay was months ago.

        • -1

There's been 5+ deals in the last week involving gift cards, all of which you can convert to eBay GCs

        • +1

You need to make an alert “gift cards” in ozb search parameters so you will be alerted everytime a potential GC that can be swapped to multiple store is available. Between Shopback’s SuperSwap and Cashrewards’ Choice GC there are quite a number of sources to find discounted GC.

  • Do people see it in shopback? Mine only says up to 6% at ebay

    • +1

      Starts at 4pm

  • If I have a $200 eBay gift card and want to buy something for say $100, is there a way I can use only $99 from the gift card and charge the $1 balance to my Westpac card?

    • +2

Nope, there is no way to split payment with westpac card if your gift card exceeds the amount you are paying for.

    • +1

I keep a bunch of Choice/Superswap gift cards unswapped for this reason. Swap for Ebay gift cards that are just below the total value (min. $5 gift cards) and use < $5 on my Westpac card

  • I've never used Westpac Shopback bonus, so this is a newbie question:
    Do I have to
    a) attach a Westpac card to the Shopback account or
    b) pay on Ebay with Westpac card ?

https://www.westpac.com.au/faq/shopback-eligible-cards/ kind of implies that the card has to be tied to a Shopback account, but I've seen some comments here that make me wonder.

    Edit: I just found the T&C's here:https://www.shopback.com.au/westpac
It appears that I have to do both - attach card to Shopback and then use the same card to pay on Ebay

  • +2

I need more eBay GC deals. While the 10% bonus $20/$30 deals are great, some higher value ones would be appreciated.

  • Can this be used to buy gift cards?

  • If use promo code, tracked 0%, but does Westpac bonus still can track?

    • No

      • +1

        Thanks

        • No worries - I found out the hard way with this one

          • @linkindan: I want to get boost sim for $198, but coupon already $20 off straight away!
So if use sb just additional $20 for Westpac

            • @Kathiepink: If any coupon other than gift cards is applied, the Westpac bonus will track at 0%

              • @linkindan: Yea, so better don’t use the promo code

                • @Kathiepink: You can either get $20 now or $40 later with the two cashbacks - I know which I’d rather have aha

                  • @linkindan: It still can pay ebay giftcard and just part of westpac payment right?

                    • @Kathiepink: Sure can - minimum 1c on Westpac card to get the 15% on the entire purchase value

  • What happened to the eBay gift cards on ShopBack

    • +4

Gone for now, GYB said they'll be back later.

Celebration Swap has higher cashback anyway (2.5%), you can also split it as needed which is perfect for the Westpac bonus.

  • Has Jack been to eBay? I noticed a few of my watchlist items went up over 15%

    • +1

Should not put in watch-list. Sellers can see and if lots of interest, can adjust price before you buy.

      • I knew that washing machine hose was $34 the other day!
Thought I was going crazy aha

  • I got the notification saying it is 10% and not 15%

  • Hey Oz Ebay'ers, is buying an item at ebay.com.au that's listed with a foreign currency still eligible for Cashback like this?

    • +1

Yez as long as you checkout via eBay AU

  • Just bought a new charger for my Legion 5 Pro, will save quite a bit if it all tracks!

  • +2

Just bought the Lego Orchid, work out to be around $50 which is great price https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/325403544101?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

  • Has it tracked for anyone?

    • Not yet for me. Ordered around 4.20pm

    • +1

eBay generally takes 12-24hrs to track.

  • +3

Fingers crossed that it tracks. Specifically didn't select a coupon for this!

  • Can I place multiple orders (within the $20 cap)?

    • +1

Should be able to. Cash back is just a % boost, not a bonus on X spend. And the current $3 off $30+ promo also allows for one or more purchases to add up.

    • +1

Should be fine, all recent past eBay upsize/bonus deals have been per transaction.

Standard Cashback [Capped at $20, Valid for All Orders Placed Between 4PM and 10PM AEST]

  • +1

i spent $250 the other day and got 0.40c

  • Awesome! Gonna get me a Reverse Osmosis water filtration system

  • Bought from eBay 5pm, but the $5 bonus still no tracked

    • It literally states its dependent on tracking. Therefore, faster tracking stores will get the bonus faster. eBay tracks min. 10 hours. I got 00:28 in the morning and tracked by 10:40am.

  • +1

Mine also hasn't tracked at all, fingers crossed!

    • Same, eBay click was registered by SB at 4:01pm though.

  • But the $5 bonus show expired 11:59pm tonight, if eBay tracked tomorrow, is the $5 bonus already expired?

    • The eligibility is based on the transaction time, not the tracking time

    • That'll be fine, it'll still apply.

  • Can you use paypal to pay wih Westpac card?

    • No, they can’t verify it

  • Can I make multiple separate transactions to get multiple cashback for each transaction ?

    • +1

      Yes you can

    • Already spent over $2k again with like 17 transactions ;)

      • +1

        Seriously

        What did you buy?
